Chapter 568: Do it for her love

Chapter 568: Do it for her love

"Are you ready to get your ass beaten?" Charlotte stood in front of Elliana, a smirk plastered on her face as she looked at the girl, who didn’t look too sure about this battle anymore.

Elliana, on the other hand, felt a weird ache in her chest, a strange wariness settling in her heart. It was almost as if something bad was happening around her somewhere.

Her emotions were going haywire, and there was no control over them, which made it difficult for her to understand what was happening or concentrate on anything.

Her gaze moved to the audience, sitting on the sidelines on the bleachers to see the battle, her fists clenched by her side.

No one was there to cheer her up. Her eyes moistened a bit. She didn’t like this feeling of loneliness. It has been so long since she felt something like this. Mr. Marino never allowed her to feel alone. He was always there for her no matter what it was.

Elliana’s hand went to the locket on her chest instinctively.

Her mother had promised that someone would be there for her, but no one came. She wanted to complain, but could she really when everyone was working hard just to keep her alive?

"Student Charlotte, are you ready?" The host suddenly asked, and Charlotte nodded, her eyes brewing fire of anger because of how Elliana had been ignoring her since earlier.

She wanted to throw this girl down from her pedestal so badly that her fingers were starting to tremble from anticipation and excitement.

"Student Elliana, are you ready?" The host asked, and Elliana bit her lips nervously before nodding.

"Students, go to your respective cubicles you are supposed to fight from," The host announced.

The entire battle zone was divided into two zones that were adjacent to each other. A heavy thick translucent shield was created between the two battles of semi-finals by the tenth-grade witches.

The students were supposed to start from their respective cubicles, proceeding ahead as they performed their magic.

There were four big screens around the entire area, two screens showcasing each battle for the onlookers that included the students, teachers, parents, founding members, and some influential witches from the entire Kingdom.

"You can do it, Caesar! We are rooting for you,"

"Serene! You got this!"

"Charlotte, give your best!"

The supporters of the three students started shouting as they went to their cubicles for their fights.

Elliana looked down at her feet, feeling downhearted.

She closed her eyes.

’Always remember, my love, if you ever feel that there is no one by your side, all you need to do is place your hand on your heart and feel your heartbeat. You will always feel my embrace, my presence in those beats. I might not be with you all the time, but the love we share is always with you.

My love doesn’t need to be spoken, you’re mine as much as I am yours. Remember, your husband will always be there for you, like the constant sun in the sky, like the constant oxygen in the air. I will be there,’

Elliana suddenly heard Sebastian’s voice in her head, and she opened her eyes, surprised. These were the same words that Mr. Marino had said to her. How -

’We recorded his voice and played it for you. Don’t feel down, Elliana. So what if the rest of the world doesn’t cheer for you? The people you care about are on your side. We are always with you,’ Circe whispered, making Elliana smile with tears in her eyes.

"Thank you," She whispered, making Circe smile.

’If you are so grateful to us, just believe in yourself. You can do this. You have to do this. For everyone who has high hopes in you, for your bet, for your Mr. Marino, for us, you have to do this, Princess. Do it to live,’ Circe motivated her, firing her hopes and desire to win once again.

Elliana nodded to herself before taking a deep breath and wiping the little dampness in her eyes. She was ready for this. Circe was right. She has to win this to live longer. There was no other way. She owed it to herself, to everyone who had been working hard to keep her alive, but more than that, she owed it to her love.

Ting!

The bell resounded and Charlotte smirked.

As soon as Elliana looked up, Charlotte raised her hand, throwing a sharp piercing blade of fire toward Elliana, taking Elliana by surprise.

However, Elliana didn’t move. She kept standing in her place, looking at the fire blade as if it was nothing more than a mere garland.

The fire of that blade resonated in her eyes, making everyone look at the girl in anticipation.

Almost everyone has seen the other three students’ battles and their gameplay. However, they never got the chance to know why Elliana was so special, thus, the majority of the people were looking at the battle with high hopes.

The dean, who was standing behind the judges, ready to protect Charlotte if something went out of place, looked at Elliana who wasn’t doing anything.

The speed of the fire blade was enough to burn the entire forest within a minute, but... Why wasn’t it reaching Elliana even after thirty seconds passed?

Elliana raised her gaze from the fire blade to the girl who had been provoking her earlier.

"You don’t know how to keep your nose out of someone’s business. You were quite interested in why Prince Nathaniel favors me so much. Would you like to see, why?" Elliana asked before she clicked her fingers, a large throne-like seat appearing behind her.

The dean widened his eyes when he noticed what Elliana was doing. There was no way she would reveal her identity mid-battle like this, right?

However, Elliana had no such intentions.

She sat back in her seat, placing her elbow on the hand rest as she supported her chin on her palm, resonating with a queen who didn’t want to fight with mere peasants.

"Charlotte, give me your best. I have been hearing your thoughts for the past thirty minutes, and I must mention that you have really ugly emotions in your heart. You wanted to show me my place. I am sitting right in front of you, not doing anything. Try it," Elliana said, looking straight into Charlotte’s eyes.

Charlotte’s eyes turned a shade of violet, black spots appearing in them slowly as she looked at the girl in pure anger, who was both provoking and humiliating her at the same time.

She really wanted to start the battle with an easy attack, but... It looks like she is left with no choice.

Meanwhile, the Dean who was observing Elliana carefully, turned around when his secretary rushed to him.

"Sir, this is important," his secretary said, his brows knitted close while his eyes only showed the kind of concern that meant nothing good.

"What is it?" The dean asked, not wanting any disturbance in this particular battle until Elliana was fighting.

"It’s about student Elliana. Something happened in the psychic testing zone, sir. The teacher..." the secretary paused, his pause making the dean widen his eyes as he turned to look at the girl who was sitting on that seat as if she was sitting on some kind of throne.

There is no way she was able to...
