Chapter 556: Intelligent daughter
"So you think this is the best way to deal with it? You are only spoiling her," Azura asked Sebastian, who sighed and looked at his wife, who had an amused expression on her face.
She was surely enjoying this.
"I don’t need your permission to keep my wife by my side and pamper her," He walked to his wife and held her hand, his glare warning everyone that if anyone dared to come close to them, he would retaliate.
"Mr. Marino, you can’t take me everywhere just like that. I have other things to do too," Elliana whispered, though her heart was liking the feeling of his hold on her hand and the way he grabbed her.
"We will manage, won’t we?" Sebastian turned to her and cupped her cheeks, making the girl blink her eyes softly.
"Well, if you say so then," Elliana blushed, and Nathaniel looked at the girl in disbelief.
Was she the same girl who wasn’t tamed by anyone just a few minutes ago? The one who didn’t listen to him?
"Elliana, I seriously can’t believe -" Nathaniel stopped talking when he noticed Azura groaning in pain, her hand reaching her heart as she crouched down, surprising everyone.
"Mom!" Elliana rushed to the dark witch queen, making Sebastian furrow his brows as he couldn’t understand what it was all about.
"What happened to her?" Sebastian asked Nathaniel who shook his head.
"I don’t know," Nathaniel looked at Azura, his gaze shifting to his half-sister who was already sitting close to the witch queen with tears in her eyes.
"Mom, what’s wrong?" Elliana asked, holding Azura’s hand in hers.
Azura bit her bottom lip, gasping for air as it almost felt like someone was churning her heart from the inside.
"It’s Arizona. I think something is wrong with her. When we were born, someone told our mother that we would become arch-enemies in the future and may end up killing each other. That’s why to save it, our mom had interlinked our energies. If something terrible happens to one of us, it will affect the other two too," Azura explained and Nathaniel furrowed his brows.
"But what’s wrong with Arizona? She is the elder white witch queen. Who would dare to go against her? Are you sure it’s her? What if it’s Azrael? With the number of enemies she is creating, people would go for her life more," Nathaniel said, and Sebastian, who had been standing quiet since Azura revealed the truth, finally sighed.
Everyone’s gaze shifted to Sebastian, who held his wife’s hand as he crouched down to wipe her tears, not wanting to see her crying.
"It’s simple logic. If we carefully consider what Queen Azura said and what Nathaniel is explaining, the chances are Azrael hurt Arizona," Sebastian said.
Elliana looked at him, confused, wiping her tears with the back of her hands like a little child, making Sebastian sigh.
"What makes you say that?" Elliana asked.
"Baby, didn’t you say Azrael came into your dream to threaten you? From what I have heard and found out about her, she is on no one’s team and would do anything to hurt you guys. Azrael is hurt, and her pain has taken an ugly turn where she knows nothing but evil," Sebastian said before he looked at Nathaniel.
"She hurt Arizona, and technically, she should’ve gotten hurt too. But, bingo. She can’t feel anything because her emotions are turned off. So even if she would be hurting and her heart would be clenching it would not have much effect. But Queen Azura on the other hand-" Sebastian looked at the lady who was barely controlling her screams as she tried to suppress the pain she was feeling through her magic.
Elliana, who couldn’t see her mom in pain, sat on her ankles and held her mother’s hand.
"Mom, if it’s too much, share it," Elliana said.
Nathaniel frowned.
What did she mean by sharing it? If this was a link between the three sisters, was there any way to meddle between it and end this pain?
Elliana closed her eyes, her hands that were holding Azura’s hand trembling slowly, and Nathaniel, who realized what Elliana was doing immediately bent to remove her hand from Azura’s, but before he could move, he was thrown away from them because of Elliana’s repulsive powers.
Sebastian looked at Nathaniel in surprise, immediately rushing to him to help him stand.
"Are you okay?" Sebastian asked, and Nathaniel coughed slightly before rubbing his chest slightly.
"Stop her. She is trying to absorb her mother’s pain," Nathaniel said with great difficulty before he closed his eyes and placed his hand on the ground, using his glacial powers and turning the room into an ice space that would slow down the process.
However, Elliana stayed unfazed.
’Ahah, I was listening to your glory,
I picked it all, your hearts linked together,
You had a dream you were in pain,
Ahh, and I was running to you to wake you up because you were sleeping,
The pain is only an illusion, you can’t overcome it,
I was painting, the picture was a painting of you sleeping,
And all this time, I had been looking at you, looking at you in pain,
But that was just an illusion, an illusion of pain,
So come back home, a place where there is no pain,’
Elliana sang softly, caressing her mother’s head with her left hand with her hand holding Azura’s right hand as she channeled her energies to her.
Sebastian looked at Nathaniel, whose eyes were starting to turn a color similar to a galaxy while Elliana’s hair on her neck rose slightly.
"Elliana, what are you doing?" Sebastian asked before he grabbed her hand, his curse and mark on her body doing a great job protecting him from Elliana’s repulsive power that had hit Nathaniel earlier.
"I am done," Elliana smiled, and Sebastian furrowed his brows, looking at the girl, confused.
Didn’t Nathaniel say she was absorbing the pain from Azura? If that was the case, why wasn’t his wife in pain? Was there any other method? And if yes, why did Nathaniel react so badly?
"What do you mean you are done?" Sebastian looked at Queen Azura who fell to the side, unconscious.
"I used my siren powers to make her fall asleep and think of her pain as an illusion. She will still feel that pain, but now it will only be on your head and around 50% less than before since the siren powers can’t really cut a strong witch’s powers just like that," Elliana smiled, proud of her work, holding Sebastian’s hand tightly, and he smiled.
"I am proud of you," he placed his lips on her forehead, making her beam her eyes before she turned to Nathaniel, who was still looking at her cautiously.
What Elliana was saying was possible, but he didn’t believe her. There is no way she performed such a strong magic using siren powers and interlacing it with her witch powers and nothing happened to her.
Elliana was indeed a prodigy when it came to handling powers and using her intellect to use them properly for her good, but she wasn’t some fairy who would never get hurt.
"Sebastian, I think she needs to have some rest and eat something. Why don’t you bring her something to eat? Meanwhile, I have to discuss a couple of things about Witch University with her that I can’t do in front of you because of protocol," Nathaniel said, making the guy look at his wife before he nodded and left the room.
Nathaniel didn’t waste a single second and rushed to where Elliana was when he saw her body swaying.
"Why are you overdoing it?" Nathaniel asked, his eyes holding only concern for the girl as she went limp in his hand, making her take her to the couch.
"Will you be able to manage?" He asked her and Elliana smiled softly.
"Thank you for not blowing it up in front of Mr. Marino. He would’ve gotten worried uselessly. I know you guys care about me, but she is my mother, Nathaniel. While she wouldn’t have died because of this pain, I wouldn’t have been able to see her in pain," Elliana said.
Nathaniel sighed before caressing her hair.
"Stupid girl. I am proud of you too. I wasn’t going to scold you. But it’s true I didn’t want to see you getting hurt. I originally thought you were going to just absorb pain but you improvised so much, and I liked what you did. It’s a slap on Azrael’s face who wanted to hurt your mother," Nathaniel said and Elliana smiled.
"She challenged me in my sleep. That she will ruin me and take away everything from me. I will ruin everything she would plan from now on, Nathaniel. I have promised myself to return her the same pain she gave to my family and much more," Elliana whispered before she looked at her mom, who whimpered softly.
Though she was angry at her mom, the truth was, her mom didn’t suffer anything less and she was ready to take revenge for everything one by one.
Meanwhile, Azrael, who didn’t hear Azura’s painful whimpers, looked at her blood-stained hands, smirking.
"It looks like you have gotten a useful daughter, Azura. This would be more fun than I anticipated," Azrael chuckled, licking her own sister’s blood.
