Chapter 484: It broke her to see him choose someone else

"Miss Brooklyn, I already apologized for my mistake. If you want to hold me accountable for that, you can come to my room. Mom Freya prepared the best gowns for me. You can change into one of them. If you still feel wronged, you can throw the champagne at my dress too, but I am sure an elegant miss like you wouldn’t be stupid enough to throw wine at Sebastian Marino’s wife," Elliana stepped ahead with her confidence.

Her gaze was dark and Brooklyn looked into her eyes before gulping. Her heart skipped a beat.

She wasn’t getting intimidated by a mere human now, was she? What would people think of her? Brooklyn clenched her teeth to get a grip on her emotions.

"Sebastian Marino’s wife? Is that the only identity you have? Do you know who I am? What recognition do you hold -" Brooklyn started before stopping when she looked behind Elliana.

Elliana smirked. It looks like the protagonist of the story has arrived. Now if she said a word, it would look like and was creating a scene and that was the last thing she wanted to do.

She looked at Prince Stephano.

"You don’t need to talk to people who don’t know where they are standing or whom they are talking to. If she can’t respect a Royal prince, I wouldn’t expect any respect from her. Thank you for backing me, though. It’s not your fault that basic etiquette is so hard to follow by some wannabees," Elliana’s sharp eyes landed on Sebastian, and the man paused in his place.

For a second it almost felt like she knew something before he sighed when she smiled at him.

"Are you okay?" Sebastian asked and Elliana hummed.

Brooklyn looked at her dress with tears in her eyes. She had been preparing and getting ready for four hours just to leave an impression on Sebastian, and his wife indirectly ruined it all.

She really wanted to shred the human to pieces, but seeing her future husband looking at the girl, she gritted her teeth before sighing.

"I am sorry for overreacting. Please forgive me," Brooklyn whispered with a soft demeanor, which immediately made Stephano roll his eyes. He never liked the girl anyway.

"Let me show you to one of the guest rooms," Lucas said, when he saw his prince was about to offer help, something that didn’t go unnoticed by Elliana or Prince Stephano and the prince immediately looked at the human girl.

Elliana didn’t say anything further and left to go sit in the corner since she wasn’t feeling like socializing anymore.

"Aren’t you going to dance?" King Noah walked to where Elliana was sitting with Princess Matilda and Prince Marcus, who were talking about some herbs to Elliana.

"Marcus, don’t tell me you opened your encyclopedia here," Noah chuckled and Marcus rolled his eyes.

"Come on, dad. It’s fun. Besides, Princess Elliana is the only one who has shown interest in my matter of interest in the entire family. Leave us alone," Marcus said, his gaze shifting to Elliana who was lost in her own thoughts.

No. She wasn’t lost in her thoughts. She was looking at someone. He followed her gaze and looked at Brooklyn who was smiling while stealing gazes at Sebastian.

Marcus looked at the sternness in Elliana’s eyes and then at Brooklyn who was shifting closer to Sebastian little by little.

He couldn’t help but shudder. Isn’t that what they say about a woman’s intuition?

"Princess Elliana, you will bore a hole in her head if you keep looking at her like that," Marcus chuckled, and Elliana hummed.

"I wonder if that was possible," She murmured, her words catching him off-guard.

Before Marcus could say anything, he was interrupted by the sound of the mic.

"Okay guys, let’s go for the first dance of the night," King Abramo’s secretary announced and everyone stood from their places.

Elliana stood and evened her dress.

No matter how angry she was at the moment, this first dance was necessary for Mr. Marino, and she promised herself that she would treat him like her husband until he broke things with her.

She looked at how Sebastian turned around, sweeping his gaze in the crowd, probably looking for her, and she forced a genuine smile on her face, knowing all too well how he would immediately come for her and demand her to dance with her.

He was just like this. If she didn’t go with him or dodged him like she had been doing, he would probably lift her just to get things done his way. Elliana sighed, but her smile was frozen when Brooklyn walked to Sebastian and he started to talk to her.

Her smile faltered.

He wasn’t planning to give his first dance to the girl too, right? Elliana’s hand clenched around the glass she was holding.

’Sebastian Marino’s wife? I wonder how long will you last for,’ Brooklyn’s words now felt like an even harder slap on her face, and the sense of humiliation finally settled in her heart.

"What is he doing?" Even Marcus was shocked.

Why was his brother acting like this? Wasn’t he obsessed with his wife the last time they had gone to their palace to meet her?

Every family member’s gaze started to turn to Sebastian when they saw the king looking at him, and to their surprise, he extended his hand towards the vampire girl who immediately smiled before bowing and taking his hand.

Elliana’s hand quivered, as she clenched her hand further on the glass, wanting to take her anger out on something, but unexpectedly the glass broke in her hand.

The sound of a glass breaking echoed in the hall even though the music was quite loud, but what traveled the fastest in the room full of vampires was the smell of blood.

Sebastian, whose back was to Elliana immediately froze in his place.

What was he doing? Taking Brooklyn’s hand when he hasn’t even explained anything to anyone.

He messed up. His Princess, who must’ve been expecting him to come to her -

Sebastian quickly turned around but Elliana was nowhere in sight.

He gulped, his heart going into a slight frenzy when his gaze landed on the broken glass at some distance where Elliana’s blood drops were.

"Princess-" Sebastian started moving but Brooklyn quickly held his hand.

"Prince Sebastian, where are you going? You promised this first dance to me," Brooklyn smiled and Sebastian looked at the girl, remembering he needed to focus on her if he wanted those votes that would assure the kingdom to him. With a wariness in his heart, he nodded warily, his gaze landing at Lucas in one order.

’Go and look for the Princess. She must be hurt. Don’t leave her side no matter what. I will be there shortly,’

Lucas immediately left, hoping he would be able to find her through her blood scent.

Meanwhile, Vincenzo, who had picked her in his arms and ran out of the hall from the back entrance, looked at the girl in his arms as soon as he placed her down.

"Why did you bring me here? Why did you make me look like a coward!" Elliana asked, her eyes turning dark and Vincenzo’s heart trembled for the girl when he saw the broken rebellious expression on her face.

"You needed to stay away from all the vampires because of your bleeding hand. Did you want all the vampires to lose control over you?" He asked, covering the fact that he didn’t want her to cry in front of everyone.

He didn’t want anyone to call her weak and make fun of her. No one deserved to see her breaking. And he could see how her heart broke tonight. He wasn’t a fool to not recognize that expression.

"Did you think I would start crying because some random leech got my husband’s attention and like a heartless he did it?" Elliana’s question caught him off guard, and he shook his head.

"I never doubted that, Elliana. My brother only loves you. That leech holds no light to - Wait. Did you just get me to call a woman of my own species a leech?" Vincenzo looked at Elliana, who looked away.

"And? You didn’t even bring first aid," Elliana said.

"I learned a thing or two from Marcello about herbs. Trust me," Vincenzo said before he picked her up again and took her towards the forest.

He had many questions swirling in his mind. He saw everything unfolding in front of him. Elliana’s every expression screamed sadness and betrayal, and for some reason, it looked like she knew something, and as much as he hated to believe it, even he felt a moment of suspicion in his heart.

What was his brother doing, taking another girl’s hand in front of everyone?

Sebastian wasn’t a fool to not know the first dance either belongs to your wife or your girlfriend if you have any. Many people share the dance with their closest friend if you don’t have anyone close to your heart, but that was another case.

Sebastian clearly loved his wife, so why would he -?
