Chapter 46: The Minsiter’s son
Samantha looked behind them at all the bikes coming one by one and couldn’t help but smile when she realized they actually won the race.
Daniel and Alcinder came after a few seconds, and Samantha smirked at Alcinder, who had the biggest scowl on his face ever.
"This girl! Do you really not care about your life at all? Do you even have any idea how dangerous that turnaround was? How could you put a royal’s life in danger like that?" Alcinder’s expression didn’t look great.
Elliana, who had been thinking about those boys and was still in her ’I don’t care about anything in this world’ phase, took off her helmet, letting her hair fall freely, making the boys around her look at her in awe. They looked at the girl dressed in black fitted jeans, a white tank top, and a brown leather jacket, whose amber eyes shone as sunlight fell on her face. Right now, she looks nothing less than an exquisite beauty.
"My life was in equal danger, Mr. Alcinder. Besides, I had full confidence in my skills. I would never put anyone’s life apart from mine in danger just like that," Elliana’s expression was neutral.
"Did you enjoy it, princess?" Elliana turned to Samantha, who looked at her wide-eyed before squealing.
"I loved every second of it. It was so thrilling! I almost felt like I was on a rollercoaster ride. I have never felt this kind of adrenaline rush before. You, you are a damn talented rider,"
Samantha threw herself at Elliana, making the girl stumble back slightly
Elliana hugged back the vampire girl, her gaze fixated on Alcinder as a smirk stretched across her lips, and Alcinder sighed.
He was uselessly worrying about this so-called royal vampire. It looks like she enjoyed it a bit too much than she should have. Or why would a vampire who hates humans after she got into a feud with them would hug a human again?
"You are on the list of one of my friends now, and no amount of denying will make me take that back," Samantha said, and Daniel sighed.
"Samantha, are you really forcing your friendship on her? This is the first time I am hearing something like this from you. Besides, you will crush her bones at this rate. No matter how much you liked the thrill, she is still a human. " Daniel said, and Elliana smiled at him thankfully.
Samantha stepped back shyly.
Alcinder didn’t know if he should be happy that Samantha was finally focusing on something or someone other than him or if he should be sad because now she liked this girl. It means, she will be more around them since Daniel is also temporarily infatuated with this human.
"Where did you learn this kind of riding? I had never thought you were serious when you said you could beat me at my game," Daniel praised Elliana before grabbing her cheeks between his index finger and thumb.
"These are actually very chubby. Is it because of all the cheese you ate?" Daniel grinned, and Samantha copied his actions with her other cheek, making Elliana scowl.
"Hey!" She swatted Daniel’s and Samantha’s hands.
"I am sorry if you felt like I was here to kill your girlfriend, but you should know that it’s no harm in believing in yourself," Elliana stepped closer to Alcinder.
"Do you think hers, yours, or mine lives are in danger just because of these petty things? Are you sure you will get to live tomorrow? I realized this today when I was almost beaten to death by those boys. Did I expect any of that? Of course not. If I hadn’t been able to fight back, would I have been alive or laughing like this?" Elliana looked straight into his eyes.
"Life is too short for regrets, Mr. Alcinder. You should be happy that you are immortal and can actually enjoy these things without fear. Look at me. One wrong move and I would be resting in peace six feet under the ground," Elliana smiled, but he could see the sadness in her eyes, and remembering how he found her in the forest, he thinned his lips.
"Miss, you won the race. This is your cash prize for it. You also have this coupon code to avail the membership of the bikers club at 80% off. If you want to become a member, you will have to pay 200$ now," the host rushed to her.
Elliana looked at the check for $1200 and smiled.
She hadn’t really thought she would win something from this race.
"Will you take it?" Samantha looked at Elliana with a new glint, and Daniel looked between the two girls before looking at Alcinder and chuckling.
This will be even tougher for Alcinder now that Samantha likes the girl. Daniel shook his head in amusement.
"Would you like to redeem the code?" Elliana looked at Alcinder, and he looked at the voucher in her hand before looking back into her eyes.
He didn’t say anything for a few seconds before scowling.
"I swear I am going mad. Your germs are infecting me, you psychotic human," Alcinder said before he snatched the voucher from her hand and went with the host to register himself.
As they were busy talking, a boy almost their age walked to them with his helmet in hand and a flirtatious smile.
"Hey, I saw how fabulous you were on the track. The way you made that steep turn was beyond amazing. I have been riding the bike for three years and racing but have seen only a few people take that kind of risk," the runner-up in second position walked to Elliana before extending his hand.
Daniel scrunched his eyebrows when he saw the State’s finance minister’s son talking to Elliana and immediately stepped forward to protect her from harm.
Elliana smiled at him, her eyes crinkling into a crescent moon shape.
"I am glad you liked it," Elliana shook his hand, his blue eyes dilating a bit.
This voice... He widened his eyes and pulled her closer, not leaving her hand, making Daniel and Samantha stiffen as they stepped ahead, alert.
"Don’t forget your place," Daniel almost stood in front of Elliana, and the boy looked at Elliana before smirking.
His smile was meaningful, and Elliana bit the inside of her cheeks to stop the smile from spreading on her lips.
She kept looking into his blue eyes, which were searching her face as if he was trying to remember her so that he wouldn’t forget her the next time he met her.
"I think the handshake has been long enough," Daniel removed Elliana’s hand from the boy’s grip, and he chuckled before ruffling his hair boyishly.
A few girls, who were here with their friends and boyfriends, looked at the handsome vampire and felt their hearts beating at the sight.
His power was oozing and weirdly attractive. Though he wasn’t as popular as Daniel and Alcinder because he always kept to himself, his powers were almost on par with Daniel’s.
"I didn’t catch your name," the boy’s gaze was still on Elliana, and the latter smiled.
"I am not interested in telling you. Isn’t this already enough?" Elliana asked meaningfully, and he chuckled before scratching the back of his neck.
"Can I get your number instead? I am Dexter, by the way. I hope you remember this name," He asked, and Elliana hummed before fishing out her phone from her pocket.
Daniel looked at the girl who was ready to give her number to some random strange vampire when he still hadn’t gotten the chance to get her number and couldn’t help but scowl.
He was about to call out to her when Elliana spoke again.
"Wait. I didn’t want to do that either," Elliana smiled, and the boy stepped closer to her, making Daniel push Elliana behind himself.
Samantha looked at the exchange that was happening and couldn’t help but sigh.
What was Daniel doing seriously? Isn’t he becoming a bit too much for this human girl? Being protective of your friend is one thing, but what he was doing was plain annoying. At least let the girl speak for herself.
If things go wrong, he can step up, but before that, he is just blowing off his chance to be her good friend.
She looked at Elliana, who had amusement looking all over her face as she looked at the minister’s son and couldn’t help but find it a little weird.
Why did it feel like something was going on here that they weren’t able to catch up? Or was Alcinder right, and this girl really doesn’t care about her life at all? She wouldn’t be provoking the minister’s son if it had been any other human.
"I think you should know to take a polite no from a girl," Daniel said, and Elliana peeked from behind Daniel, looking at the boy as if she was the most innocent girl, and the boy sighed.
"I can’t believe you are being like this, seriously. What is wrong with giving me your number? I won’t annoy you. I promise," The boy said.
Alcinder walked to them after registering himself and looked at the minister’s son before his gaze moved to his friends, who were walking ahead as if to back his friend. His gaze shifted to Daniel, standing in front of Elliana as if protecting her from the boy, and scrunched his brows.
"What’s going on?" Alcinder asked, his gaze moving to Samantha, who scoffed and looked away.
Alcinder - "...’’ What did he do now? He just asked a question.
He sighed and looked at Daniel.
"What are you doing?" Alcinder asked, trying to understand the situation before making any assumptions.
"As I said earlier too, isn’t it enough? You got to see my face. That should’ve been more than enough. You are a lucky one," Elliana said, and the boy looked into Daniel’s eyes.
"Tell your friend to get off my face and come talk to me face to face," The boy said, and Alcinder quirked his brows.
"Dexter, I think you should know when to step back," Alcinder’s voice turned a bit low and cold, and Dexter looked at the council’s son before sighing and looking at his friends, who shrugged at him.
"Congratulations on your victory," Dexter said, and Daniel sighed before stepping away from Elliana.
"Fine. You can talk," Daniel said, and Dexter shook his head.
"I think that’s enough. I will take my leave now," Dexter said.
Dexter was about to turn when to everyone’s surprise, in a swift second, he held her hand.
He looked at her hand, and without a warning, he picked her bridal style before using his vampire speed and running into the forest.
Samantha - "..."
Alcinder -"..."
Daniel -"..."
Dexter’s friends -"..."
Blue -"..."
What the hell just happened? Cold sweat beads appeared on her face, and she gulped.
Was the prince really right when he said the princess might talk to the humans and devise plans against the vampires?
From what she is seeing, it’s the vampires they need to be wary of. Blue clenched her fists before running in the same direction as Dexter.
