Chapter 453: The kind of loyalty
Chapter 453: The kind of loyalty
"I indeed have a relationship with her. A relationship of someone who was madly in love with her from the day he took her in his hands. The relationship of being her first for everything," Nathaniel smiled sadly.
"The relationship of being the one who observed her first smile, heard her first giggle, blew air on her first wound when she fell when trying to walk," Nathaniel turned around.
"The relationship of being her first friend, her first cry, the one who protected her all those years, and regretted being away from her when she needed him the most. The relationship of being a hopeless lover who wanted to become strong for her and have a married life with her, but couldn’t anymore because she got married before he could make a move on her. The relationship of shared blood, miseries, and tears," Nathaniel whispered, dropping the biggest hint he could, answering Sebastian’s question in his own twisted ways.
However, Sebastian, who didn’t want to hear him anymore, didn’t take the hint and just glared at him.
"That’s why I want to thank you for doing something that I couldn’t, bound by the witch duties. You truly deserve to be called her husband. You are the one who deserves her eternal care and affection," Nathaniel smiled.
"Does she know? That you are in love with her?" Sebastian asked.
He would’ve felt sympathy for the man, seeing him in so much pain, but here he was talking about being hopelessly in love with his wife, and he wasn’t happy with it.
However, for some reason, his beast wasn’t jealous. He was hearing this witch’s words as if he was someone worth hearing.
"She knows I would never make a move on her because I respect your relationship with her. Besides, she is obsessed with you. Do you think I stand a chance?" Nathaniel asked.
Sebastian hummed, satisfied with his answers.
"If you are done asking your questions, I have to leave -"
"One more question," Nathaniel interrupted Sebastian, and the man huffed, clearly irritated.
"Had anyone ever told you how fucking annoying you are?" Sebastian growled and Nathaniel smiled before nodding.
"What is it?" He asked, and Nathaniel sighed, becoming somber and serious.
"If by any chance, you come to know a dark secret about Elliana, something that is utterly unacceptable, and you find out that no one in your family would accept her. In fact, if your beast doesn’t accept her for who she is and what she has done, what will you do? Will you leave her?" Nathaniel asked, and Sebastian looked at him.
"If you think you have any chance with her -"
"I can’t fucking have her whether you leave her or not. So just answer me and stop rubbing salt in my wounds, will you?" Nathaniel clenched his jaws.
"I can accept everything about her. She has annihilated a group of people, vampires, and is a hidden werewolf princess. I can accept everything except her relationship with a dark witch. I am sure she is not one, and I will ensure she doesn’t keep a relationship with them either. So, will I leave her? I won’t," Sebastian answered.
Nathaniel looked at the man, his heart squeezing painfully for his princess who was going to have a tough heartbreak because of this man’s unyielding nature.
Was accepting a dark witch his borderline?
"Why not dark witches? Not all dark witches are bad, Sebastian and -"
"Time up. I don’t have to hear your bullshit anymore. I have to find my princess," Sebastian sat inside the car and drove away.
Nathaniel, on the other hand, leaned on the tree with his eyes closed.
"Will my daughter have a broken heart again? It’s funny how I won’t be able to do anything. She will have to suffer all because she is my daughter. I am a curse to her, aren’t I?"
Nathaniel heard Azura’s voice and he sighed.
"Let’s hope she doesn’t become evil like you with a broken heart. Besides, she already knows she will have to leave Sebastian," Nathaniel stood straight before thinking about his princess, who was fighting all her demons on her own.
"The problem is, she is planning to leave this country and come with me to the Himalayan palace when the only man who can protect her from Azrael and Arizona is this man who hates what she is," Nathaniel said, and Azura looked down at her feet.
"How about she doesn’t tell him what she is and -"
Azura stopped mid-sentence.
It didn’t make any sense. Sooner or later, she will have to reveal the truth to Sebastian. Her increasing powers would ensure it either way. So it was better she told him about herself and stepped away from him rather than having him find out about it.
"Honestly, everything is unpredictable. If what Sebastian feels for her is real, they will have a hard time coping with things. And while he might give in an accept her, he might also become her worst enemy," Nathaniel sighed.
Meanwhile, near the lake, Elliana sat with her head on her knees as she looked at her phone, waiting for one message from Glow.
"Are you angry at him?" Jennifer asked, nearing their leader cautiously.
"Angry at who?" Elliana asked, and Jennifer pressed her lips into a thin line, finding it hard to even say it.
"That lee.. That royal vampire ... Your husband," Jennifer cleared her throat when she remembered what she was about to say, and Elliana smiled sadly.
"Isn’t he handsome?" Elliana rather asked and Jennifer looked at their leader as if she had grown two heads.
"But, he was wearing a mask. How can I tell if he is handsome or not? Only you know the answer to it since you have seen his face," Jennifer said.
Elliana hummed.
"I have seen his heart," She said before sighing.
"I am not angry at him. I can never be. The only thing that makes me frustrated is the fact that he proudly called me his wife. I didn’t want you or anyone around me to know the truth because we will be divorced soon," Elliana said, shocking Jennifer.
"You will? But you clearly love each other. Why would you divorce him?" She asked, her reaction a bit too loud.
"You think he loves me?" Elliana asked, dipping her fingers in the cold water.
"Of course. The vampires and werewolves never got along. To say he came here all because of you and with you, without caring about his life. It means he keeps you above himself," Jennifer said dreamily and Elliana hummed.
"It’s because he can’t accept who I am. Will you guys accept me after knowing who I am?" Elliana asked and Jennifer was about to ask what she was talking about when Elliana received a call from Glow.
She looked at the message and looked at Jennifer. She turned around when she heard some crunching of leaves.
"Princess," Elliana heard a soft whisper and she looked at her feet, knowing what was coming next.
"Why did you run away from there, princess? Do you think we are so insensitive that we would blame you or hate on you because you are married to a vampire royal? Did you take our loyalty to you so lightly?" Davis asked with a soft whimper, and Elliana’s eyes softened.
"It’s not about loyalty -"
"It’s about loyalty! Those three people there rather prefer dying the most uncomfortable death an enemy doesn’t deserve, all because they wanted to save your secret. That’s the kind of loyalty we have for you. And we know that you will do the same for us, but why can’t you believe that there are people who are ready to die for you in our species?" Davis took a deep breath, his emotions all over the place.
"I agree that we hate vampires with a passion and you didn’t want to hurt us, but did you ever think that we respect you enough to keep your personal and professional life separate and accept who you are just the way you are? Most of us don’t even know your real name," Davis said.
Elliana didn’t say anything for some time. She kept looking at the man whose fingers had elongated, showing his wolf trying to take over again.
"Elliana. I am Elliana Minerva," Elliana whispered, and Davis stopped talking, his eyes brimming with helplessness and frustration.
"It’s not about fucking name!" He snarled at her, his eyes raging fire mixed with hurt and rebellion, and a chuckle left Elliana’s mouth along with a few tears that rolled down her eyes.
Elliana wiped her tears before nodding, smiling sadly at him.
"I know. Come here. You want to know who I am," Elliana said before she nodded at Jennifer who walked to her and held her hand, followed by Davis who held her other hand.
"Teleportieren," Elliana whispered and Jennifer’s eyes widened when she realized what was happening.
"No fucking way," Davis hushed as they vanished from near the lake and reached the place where her girls abducted the vampires who hurt Jasmine and her family.
Elliana stepped forward, stopping dead in her tracks when she looked at the person in front of her, who looked back at her with wide shocked eyes.
"The fuck, princess?!" He asked, his eyes holding disbelief.
