Chapter 451: Reveal her identity to wolves
"Owwwww!" One of the wolves howled from some distance before they pounced on Elliana.
Sebastian immediately became alert, rushing to Elliana, but stopped out of the wolf circle they had formed when he saw Elliana patting the wolf’s fur and the wolf groveling at her foot, hitting her foot with its paws, talking in some hidden language that probably Elliana could understand.
As if the wolves remembered the presence of the vampire species when Sebastian neared them, the loud sounds of their growling and snarling echoed, and Vincenzo, who stepped out of the car, looked at Elliana warily.
This was one species that even he wouldn’t want to mess with easily.
He noticed how the wolves started encircling Sebastian.
Unsurprisingly, his brother didn’t even flinch. And why would he? Wasn’t he a beast himself?
Elliana, who sat on one of the wolves, turned to Mr. Marino before looking at the wolves.
"They are my family and won’t hurt you. They have come here to inspect the area. I brought them so we could find justice for our people," Elliana whispered, and Sebastian nodded at the wolves in an indication that whatever his princess was saying was a fact.
The wolves sniffed Sebastian, probably to see if he had any bad intentions before they let out low snarls, nodded at them, and took Elliana away.
Sebastian sat inside the car and followed the wolves to ensure they didn’t feel threatened and hurt his princess.
For the first time, he felt he was helpless, not because he was scared for himself but because he was scared for his princess, who was acting a bit too ignorant and careless with the dangerous big wolves around her. Though she was looking so cool, one wrong move, and she would be brutally hurt by them.
Not to mention how all of them were highly sensitive at the moment because of the death of their loved ones.
Elliana jumped from Davis’s back as soon as they reached the house with the unhinged door hanging loosely. The vampires must’ve forced their way inside.
The thick smell of blood wafted through her nostrils and she paused.
She looked at Jennifer and others who were starting to turn back into their human forms and knew they wanted her to go inside and talk to Nyx.
"He is waiting," Jennifer held Elliana’s hand, making Sebastian clench his jaws.
"You stop," One of the wolves stood in front of Sebastian and Vincenzo, stopping them on the pavement.
"Let them see what their species did," Elliana said in her soft voice, not turning back to look at them, and the wolves immediately parted.
She entered the house with her wary and trembling haze, preparing herself for the worst.
However, no amount of self-talking could’ve prepared her for what she saw.
Her hands clenched by her side as a low gasp left her mouth. Her gaze landed on Mannu and Jasmine, the scratches on their bodies and blood collecting between their legs a clear indication of what happened to them.
Tears welled in her eyes before she walked to the windows and pulled down the curtains.
She tore the curtains in two and draped them over both the bodies, sitting close to Mannu.
Elliana looked into the eyes of the lifeless body of the girl who was two years younger than her.
"What happened to you? Why did you come back? I sent you away to study, didn’t I?" Elliana asked Mannu with a soft sigh.
Sebastian gazed at what happened in the room and didn’t know what to feel in the matter.
The old lady who was used till death, kind of reminded him of his mother, who suffered the same destiny, and the more he looked into the lady’s lifeless eyes, the angrier he became.
"You didn’t deserve any of this. None of you -"
"Princess," She heard Nyx’s wolf and Elliana quickly rushed to the body when she remembered his wolf was still there.
She sat near the body that was covered in its flesh and blood, her lower lip whimpering as her throat clogged from choked-up emotions.
Sebastian looked at his unfazed princess.
Any normal girl would’ve started wrenching and ran out of the horrifying place. But seeing how she was controlling herself and trying to keep away her disgust, she looked like ready to be a queen, a real queen, just like his mother.
"What happened, Atlas?" Elliana asked, and the wolf took a deep trembling breath.
He told her everything, starting from how everyone went to see the newborn baby to how those vampires came and attacked them. They kept asking about her but they didn’t want to reveal her identity to them, knowing they would kill them either way, and that was why they met this kind of end.
Elliana looked into Atlas’s eyes before she bent and placed her forehead on his.
In normal circumstances, Sebastian would’ve felt jealous of anyone who was getting to be this intimate with the princess, but this time he didn’t.
Rather, he felt plain pity for the man who lost his mate and daughter right in front of him. Even the beast inside him felt bad for the man who had to take his own life to end the torture that he went through.
Sebastian sighed. He understood what happened here, and those men had come to look and find out about his wife, but the main question was, why?
How big of a secret was she hiding?
Why were they after his princess? And what kind of relationship did his princess have with these wolves that they rather suffer this pain and lose their life rather than tell them who or where she was?
This kind of loyalty was really rare to find, that to be from a species above you. Why were these wolves tied to this mere human girl?
"I promise you, Atlas. Nyx’s curse won’t go in vain. Your mate’s death won’t go in vain. Every tear that rolled from your daughter’s eyes will be avenged. Every scream will be avenged. This is my promise to you," Elliana whispered to Atlas before she grabbed a random blunt object and sliced her hand to everyone’s shock.
"I, Elliana Heart, pledge to bring Nyx’s curse to life," Elliana took the oath before rubbing her hand on his forehead.
As soon as she did that Atlas let out a low howl before he left. Nyx’s cold lifeless body immediately turned soulless less and Elliana sat there motionlessly.
She just kept sitting there, looking at the blood around her without an expression on her face.
"Princess," Jennifer walked to Elliana, placing her hand on her shoulders, knowing how much this must have affected their leader who always talked about their safety and asked them to risk her life but never theirs for her.
"We will avenge their death," Jennifer whispered before she laid down and placed her head in Elliana’s lap, all the wolves bowing to the girl in the middle on one knee.
Sebastian looked at the girl, who looked nothing like his princess and so much like her at the same time.
"Prince Vincenzo, where are those vampires?" Elliana asked, and Vincenzo sighed.
He knew what was coming next.
"Glory, I told you I would take care of -" Elliana stood from her place, her eyes shooting daggers, and walked to Prince Vincenzo.
Sebastian was about to hold her hand to pull her back to him, but what she did next, made him quirk his brows.
"I asked you a question, Prince Vincenzo," Elliana grabbed Vincenzo’s collar.
Prince Vincenzo’s secretary immediately gasped and stepped ahead, but Vincenzo raised his hand to stop him from proceeding.
"Princess, calm down. This is not the way to handle things," Vincenzo said.
Elliana scoffed.
"It’s not your family who is butchered. So don’t tell me to freaking calm down. Don’t force me to think it was a mistake trusting you for being of help," Elliana looked into Vincenzo’s eyes, who sighed.
It was important for her to calm down. Her back was facing Sebastian, so he wouldn’t be able to see, but he could clearly see her eyes starting to change colors, and it wasn’t a good thing.
"Princess, I will bring those men to you. If you want I will sharpen the blade for you to cut them into small dice," Sebastian whispered out of the blue, and Elliana who was losing her sense and control over her emotions, immediately froze.
"Mr. Marino, don’t come near me," Elliana whispered, not turning around.
Sebastian sighed.
"Nothing can stop me from coming to you," Sebastian walked before he grabbed her hand and turned her around, placing his lips on her temple.
He hid her face in his chest.
"I am waiting for everything, very patiently, princess. I agree with your need for more time, but this is something I would never agree to. Nothing can keep you away from me," Sebastian said before he looked at Vincenzo who immediately understood his signal and rushed out to take those vampires far away from here, from the princess’s reach.
There’s no way he was going to let his innocent princess lose her senses by tasting the craze for bloodshed.
He was the beast in the relationship, and he would kill them personally, but he wouldn’t allow his beauty to become the beast.
"They will get what they deserve. I promise," Sebastian whispered to her before looking at the wolves who were looking at him as if he were their enemy.
"I apologize to you guys for what those members of my species did here. I see you guys share a special relationship with my wife -"
"Mr. Marino!" Elliana raised her voice in shock when she realized what he was doing.
"I hope you take care of her just like she does with you guys, and this incident doesn’t come between you and my wife," Sebastian ended his sentence before looking down at his wife.
"I am not afraid of calling you mine in front of everyone, Cara. Stop fooling around and proudly tell everyone you are Sebastian Marino’s wife," Sebastian cupped her masked face, his eyes softening when he saw her eyes brimming with tears.
"Jennifer!" Elliana stepped back from Sebastian, and the girl immediately turned into a wolf.
Elliana sat on the wolf, wiping her tears, as the wolf ran away with her.
Sebastian looked at the back of his leaving wife and sighed.
’You messed up. It was her place to announce to her people who she was. You were the one who suggested she hide the identity,’ the beast inside him said, and Sebastian massaged his forehead.
"What could I do? I didn’t like the way she was so comfortable with Vincenzo, and how that guy knows more things about my wife than I do. Are you okay with it?" Sebastian asked, and the beast sighed.
’It’s not about revealing the truth, Sebastian. It’s about time. You did it at a time when these people were hurt by vampires and their people were tortured like this. You told them that the leader they believe so much in is the wife of a royal vampire. What kind of impression did it leave?’ the beast reasoned, and Sebastian immediately felt guilt taking over, remembering his wife’s hurt expression.
Did he mess up that badly?
