The Masked Vampire King's Accidental Bride -
Chapter 433: Why was she in pain?
Chapter 433: Why was she in pain?
In the office room, Sebastian sat around his desk, massaging his forehead.
After taking his half-hour-long meeting, he asked his subordinates to gather around and report all the missions they were sent on.
"So you’re telling me you almost had a tail on Gambit but we lost it at the last moment? That a fucking team of well-trained vampires lost to some human rogues?" Sebastian asked, his voice cold and void of emotions, and Garry looked down in shame.
It was beyond humiliating for him as the team leader. The prince had entrusted this project to him with the confidence that he would bring back positive results, but to have reports of such shameful incompetency was like licking your own spit in front of your enemy.
Lucas looked at Harry and nodded at him. It was for the best if he took his brother Garry out of there.
Their prince who was in such a good mood earlier was now seething with disappointment, and though they understood the reason behind it and should take it, everyone had already been warned not to stay in the prince’s sight when he showed too much emotion.
Why? Because the chances of his devil or beast side taking over increases and a beast doesn’t keep relationships into consideration. Wasn’t it the same reason their prince was thrown out of the royal palace?
"I am sorry, sir. Please forgive me," Garry refused to leave the room with Harry, who looked at Lucas with a dejected sigh.
"Is your apology going to bring us anything fruitful, Garry? How about you take a leave for some time and -?"
"No, sir! Please, don’t dismiss me. I will try my best to do everything," Garry immediately rushed to Sebastian’s foot, begging terribly.
Harry’s hands clenched, seeing his brother begging like this, and he took a deep breath to keep his anger and frustration inside.
As much as he hated what was happening, his brother indeed showed incompetency, and there was no excuse for it.
Sebastian tilted his head to the side as he looked into Garry’s sad and hopeful eyes before he massaged his forehead again.
"When did I say I am dismissing you?" Sebastian’s voice turned a shade darker, not liking the feeling of being misunderstood by his own people.
"Why do you guys treat your prince like he is some kind of inconsiderate monster? I am not even that harmful. How long has it been since I fed?" Sebastian asked.
Lucas - "..." Well, that’s because you are trying to be in princess’s good books. It’s not because you are not harmful. The subordinate pouted, not voicing his thoughts or he would surely receive a kick on his ass, and the princess wasn’t here to save him either.
"I just want you to take a couple of days off so that you can relax. We have been assigning you hard projects back to back and you deserve this rest. Come back with more productivity," Sebastian said before he leaned forward and grabbed Garry’s jaws in a tight grip, looking straight into his eyes.
"Tell me, Garry, do you think I am a monster?" He asked, and Garry gulped.
What kind of tricky question was it? He looked at Lucas from the corner of his eyes who shook his head at him, a clear indication to not say the truth or all of them were doomed.
"You are way happier when you are with the princess," Garry tried the safer route. Sebastian looked into his eyes for a few seconds before he let go of him, leaning back in his seat.
"Hmm, why can’t I seem to deny it?" Sebastian asked, his voice though cold, full of a softness that his subordinates were able to witness only recently, all thanks to a particular human girl.
"You guys can leave. I will hold another meeting after two hours, and I want some progress. Let’s take a relaxing leave after the ceremony," Sebastian suggested, and his subordinates nodded before leaving.
Lucas didn’t move.
"Sir, there was something I needed to discuss with you," Lucas said and Sebastian raised his gaze.
"What is it?" Sebastian asked, and Lucas cleared his throat.
"Will you go back to the royal Kingdom once you become the king?" Lucas asked.
Sebastian looked at his subordinate, amused by how he didn’t even doubt whether his prince would become the king or not.
"Is there a problem with that?" Sebastian asked.
"Well, I might be crossing a line, but I wanted to talk to you about it as a friend rather than your subordinate," Lucas said, and Sebastian nodded.
"Speak freely,"
"I... I don’t want you to take our princess to the royal Kingdom," Lucas said, gazing down at his feet, and Sebastian quirked his brows.
Out of everything, this sentence was the least he expected to come out of his subordinates’ mouths.
Well, this was interesting.
"And is there a specific reason for that?" Sebastian asked.
"It’s just... I don’t like how the other princes hover around our princess like bees around honey. She is a good-hearted person and can’t see or think otherwise, but I feel that the princes have been trying to find ways to meet and see her quite a lot.
I don’t doubt their intentions and feelings for the princess or think they have ill motives, but they are acting like she is some kind of doll that has been placed in the family that they need to pamper. It’s NOT their responsibility. She is your princess," Lucas said in a single breath.
Sebastian smirked, suppressing his urge to smile at his subordinate.
Since when did Lucas become so possessive and protective of their princess?
"I wonder where this possessiveness comes from," Sebastian said before he hummed slowly and told Lucas he would keep that in mind.
Lucas left the office room and building shortly to go to his home and meet his circle of friends who worked in the royal palace too, hoping to get some inside information.
Sebastian sat with his eyes closed before remembering something.
Wait. Didn’t he ask Miss Zoya to send Princess to his office once his meeting was done? It has been half an hour already, what is that old lady doing? Sebastian wondered and was about to stand from his place when he suddenly started feeling uneasy.
He sat back in his seat, his hand subconsciously going to his heart.
Why did it hurt like that? What the hell was this feeling? It was almost as if something close to him was in some kind of trouble.
Sebastian released a shaky breath before he walked to the balcony, his gaze moving towards the balcony of his room on the third floor.
The piercing ache pinched his heart again with a deeper intensity, and he clenched his teeth, ruffling his hair in frustration.
He walked to his table and wore the mask, wanting to go and see his princess now.
She was the only person who could calm -
Sebastian couldn’t even complete his thought when he heard an ear-piercing scream from downstairs.
Thump! His heart thumped loudly before it skipped a beat and his pupils dilated.
"Princess!" Sebastian didn’t waste a second in using his vampire speed to reach the room as soon as possible.
Something was wrong with his princess. Why was she sounding in so much pain? What was happening? Did something harm her? Why did it feel like it was emotional pain rather than physical pain?
She was fine just half an hour ago, then what -
All the thoughts rose in his head as soon as he reached the door.
He tried the handle, but it was locked and he didn’t waste a single second knocking on the door, the sight in front of him, making his beast roar immediately.
In front of him was Nathaniel, the mix-breed prince, while some other man who was also a witch was getting close to his princess on the bed.
"Get the fuck away from her!" Sebastian’s eyes turned a deadly mixture of red that looked like it was engulfed within Black, and Pluto stumbled back in shock.
Nathaniel immediately stepped forward.
"Prince Sebastian, see the situation before reacting. Elliana is having an anxiety attack. We need to calm her down before something bad happens. Where the hell were you when she was suffering?" Nathaniel tried to handle the situation, blaming Sebastian so they could make it look like they didn’t know what was happening, hoping that the prince wouldn’t come for them.
Sebastian didn’t look at him, his gaze was fixated on his princess who was writhing in pain on the bed, gasping for air as tears flowed through the side of her eyes.
His princess who was smiling earlier was in so much pain and he didn’t know.
His eyes immediately started softening and he walked to his princess on the bed.
"Step away," Sebastian said, flickering his gaze to Pluto for a minuscule second, and it was enough for Pluto to gulp and maintain a distance from him.
Though his eyes weren’t raging fire like earlier, they were still the same color, which was a clear indication that his beast was still trying to take over.
"Princess," Sebastian cupped Elliana’s cheeks before shifting her body to make space for himself so he could hold her.
