Chapter 431: Her mother

"Azura?" Elliana whispered, remembering the lady who helped her thrice and had cupped her cheeks, telling her she would always have her back.

Nathaniel had told her that Azura was up to no good when it came to her and that she should keep her distance from the witch if possible, but for some reason, every time she looked at the witch, she felt a weird pull that had been hard to describe.

Azura turned to the girl, her eyes softening a little.

"Oh, you are here too. How are you doing -?"

"Why did you do that to me?" Elliana asked, cutting Azura mid-sentence.

Azura, who was seething from anger because she couldn’t find Arizona even after trying for so long, looked at the girl with a neutral expression now, her anger which was lessening earlier, turning to calmed nonchalance.

She turned her gaze towards Nathaniel, who looked away, a clear indication that Elliana knew she was harmful to her and thus, there was no use hiding anything anymore.

"I did it because -"

"I felt connected," Elliana’s earlier smile was nowhere to be seen as she said these words, cutting the witch once again. Her smile was replaced by a sad look and Nathaniel sighed.

No matter if they knew the truth or not, this bond wasn’t something they would get over easily. The pull would always be there.

"I felt connected to you when you came and helped me. Out of all the people who came to meet me to hurt me, for some reason..." Elliana felt her throat clogging.

"For some reason, I felt like you wouldn’t turn out to be one of them. My heart wanted to believe you. That you don’t want the wrong for me. When Nathaniel told me you want my life too, it hurt. It hurt here," Elliana pointed at her heart, tears welling in her eyes, and Nathaniel walked to her before holding her hand.

"You don’t have to feel bad, sweetheart. It’s not your fault that people only want to use you for their benefits and can’t see what their actions can do to others, that they can’t see your pure heart," Nathaniel cupped her cheeks, wiping the tears that rolled down her cheeks.

Pluto pressed his lips into a thin line.

What Nathaniel was doing was good, but wasn’t he prolonging everything a bit too much? Just how long was he going to keep being a hindrance and a wall between the both?

He couldn’t take it anymore.

"Till when are you going to hide that she is her daughter?" Pluto asked, leaning on the tree behind himself as he waited for the drama to unfold.

Nathaniel froze in his place, his heart skipping a beat as it thumped. He looked at his friend with disbelief.

"What? Don’t look at me like that. Someone has to burst the bubble sooner or later. And now that she knows her husband is alive, she won’t want to kill her own daughter for the resurrection process, right?" Pluto asked.

Elliana’s entire body trembled at what Pluto said, and she stepped back from Nathaniel.

She couldn’t believe it.

There was no way this was true, right? Her face turned to Nathaniel with hope.

"Nathaniel, what is Mr. Pluto saying?" Elliana asked, hoping to hear that she heard him wrong.

Azura looked at Nathaniel with a questioning gaze, and Nathaniel sighed.

"I found out the truth not long ago," Nathaniel said, and Elliana gulped as realization dawned upon her.

’He didn’t deny the fact. He said he found out recently. Does that mean it was true?’ Elliana’s eyes brimmed with tears.

She looked at the lady in front of her,

’She was my mother. The same mother who abandoned me. But why is she acting like she didn’t even know about it?’

’Was I so insignificant to her? That she didn’t even know if her daughter was alive or not?

’She wanted to kill me to resurrect her husband?’

’It means she wanted to kill her daughter to bring her husband back to life? And why not? Did she even hold any affection for her?’

’Why does my heart hurt like hell?’

Elliana’s mind started swirling with all the questions.

All her life she had one dream, that she wanted to find her mother. That she would find her mother and ask her what exactly was the reason that she left her like that.

But what was she supposed to ask this lady who wanted to kill her? Elliana’s eyes brimmed with tears and a rage that she never thought she had inside her.

She felt betrayed beyond hurt, betrayed by her own emotions.

"So it was your mother who wanted to harm me? Was that why -" Elliana started, not wanting to accept that this lady was her mother too, her voice dropping to a cold tone that was void of emotions.

"She isn’t my mother, Elliana. We have saved fathers but different mothers," Nathaniel rubbed his forehead, his frustration making him overlook what was happening with Elliana.

"Can you please give me some time to explain everything to both of you at different time phases? This is too much for me to explain too," Nathaniel asked as he tried to hold Elliana’s hand and take her away, but Azura held his hand.

"You knew she was my daughter and yet you hid it from me? How can you do this to me, Nathaniel?! How much did you hate me to -" Azura asked in disbelief, raising her hand to slap Nathaniel.

First her husband and now her daughter too?

However, before her hand could even touch Nathaniel, Elliana stepped forward and held her hand in the air, her eyes turning black immediately.

Nathaniel’s heart thumped at the pressure she exerted. This wasn’t a good sign.

Azura gasped and stepped back in horror.

"Nath-"

"Elliana, calm down!" Nathaniel raised his voice at Elliana.

"Stay the f*ck away from my family!" Elliana growled at Azura, the black fire she saw earlier, collecting in her hand in a large ball, and Pluto immediately stood straight, looking at the girl who was all smiling earlier, in anticipation.

This kind of change was drastic.

She wouldn’t do what he thought she was going to do, right?

There was no way she would use her lethal Black flame on her mother, right? No matter how angry she was, she wouldn’t want to kill her mother who she met after so many years.

"Ell-Elliana, I am your family too. Y-you are my daughter," Azura’s voice broke as she looked at all the animosity in Elliana’s eyes.

She couldn’t bear it.

For her, Elliana was always a dark witch to whom she felt a connection, but she always thought that it was solely because she was a dark witch of the Black Diamond clan.

But to say, Elliana was her daughter, she was equally surprised. How could she ever think of killing her own daughter? Azura’s eyes brimmed with tears as she yearned to hug the baby with whom all of this started.

She had found out about her past in the human kingdom way before she started meeting her and following her, and now that she thinks about it...

Her poor daughter suffered so much at Arizona’s whims in the name of survival.

Azura clenched her fists.

Not only did that Arizona bitch take away her husband, she made her daughter suffer so much, and all of this was because their mother didn’t allow her to marry King Eros. After all, he was a dark witch and she was a light witch.

"Baby, please listen to me," Azura tried to step ahead, but Elliana tilted her head before she raised her hand in the air, releasing some of her flames towards the sky.

Everyone watched in surprise as their surroundings started burning.

It was amazing how Elliana still had her conscience despite how the powers were taking over her.

A rogue tear slipped down Azura’s eyes as she raised her hand in the air, mimicking Elliana’s actions, and calmed all the fire her daughter started.

Azura was amazed at the amount of powers she had to use while Elliana didn’t even flinch.

"What the hell did you do? This was the reason I forbade everyone from meeting her. Are you happy now? Does that answer all your curiosity and satisfy you?" Nathaniel growled at Pluto, who gulped.

"Nathaniel, I know this isn’t the right time, but there’s something that you need to know," Pluto said, but Nathaniel only clenched his teeth, turning away from him.

He didn’t know how to calm his raging princess. He has never seen her so angry and sad. She was broken. Her dream and hope of meeting her mother and having a good life with her was shattered.

While everyone might think that she wanted to kill her mother and was trying to protect him, he could clearly see that she was just trying to show her anger and sadness to everyone. She wanted to take out her emotions that were probably killing her inside.

And while taking out her emotions was good because keeping them inside would be more harmful to her, he didn’t want her to do anything that she would regret later.

"Elliana, please calm down. Your five minutes are over. Sebastian will become suspicious if he won’t find you in the palace and you know you can’t risk it. Not before these days are over," Nathaniel said, and as if someone poured cold water on Elliana’s head, she lowered her hand before looking at Nathaniel.

"Leave me alone for some time. Don’t come looking for me. I will find you myself," She whispered before she used her teleportation skills and appeared back in her room at the palace.
