The Masked Vampire King's Accidental Bride
Chapter 400: Chase the cat

Chapter 400: Chase the cat

Sebastian sat in his office chair, waiting for his princess to arrive as he drummed his fingers on the table impatiently.

"What is taking him so long?" Sebastian roared and looked at Harry, who looked at his Prince wide-eyed before quickly rushing out of the room and muttering a quick apology.

As Harry was rushing out, he bumped into his twin brother, and Garry looked at his brother with raised brows.

"What are you running for?" Garry asked, his eyes stern, ready to scold him for acting like this in front of their prince.

"He is angry," Harry whispered.

"He who? Our prince? Is it because of what happened in the royal palace?" Garry asked.

"No. He is angry at Lucas because he is taking too much time in bringing Princess," Harry said in a hushed voice, and the arrogant facade Garry had, immediately cracked and he held Harry’s hand before pulling him to the side.

"Is it bad?" Garry whispered and asked his brother, and Harry nodded.

"He looks like he will snap everyone’s neck who will try to get near him before the princess," Harry said, and Garry cleared his throat.

"I had to report to him about Gambit’s new location. Should I go inside?" Garry asked, looking at the door warily.

Ambrose, who was walking inside the lounge and looked at the two scooting down and whispering among each other narrowed his brows.

"What are you two doing over there?" He asked, catching the two off-guard, and making them jump in their places.

"Ambrose! Quickly, come here," Garry rushed to the prince’s trusted driver and third-hand man.

"What is it?" Ambrose asked, looking between the brothers warily.

"Harry just came from inside, and he said our prince is roaring and moaning because the princess is not here," Garry said to Ambrose, who quirked his brows.

"Moaning? As in wailing in pain?" Ambrose asked to double confirm.

Garry nodded with a neutral look as if he passed on some great news that saved Ambrose’s life today.

Harry -"..." But I didn’t even say that. I just said he was angry. The most I said was roaring. Where did this groaning and moaning come from? What is with this weird exaggeration?

Harry turned to Ambrose to clear the air, but before he could say anything, he saw Ambrose furiously typing something.

He walked closer to him to see what he was typing and noticed it was the shipping group of prince and princess.

"Our prince is crying for the princess. He already misses her because she has gone to university. Where is this heading?" Ambrose typed and hit the send with an excited gif.

Harry- "..." But -.

Harry looked at his brother and Ambrose who were now talking to each other in hushed whispers about what they should be doing to bring them closer, and if they should call Lucas and ask him what was taking him so long since they had their respective things to report to the prince and none of them wanted to be on the bad side of him when he was missing his princess.

Harry, who looked at them, sighed.

Weren’t they going too haywire?

Well, what does it have to do with him? It’s not like he was the one spreading rumors about the prince. They were thinking it all in their heads. Harry shrugged and walked out of the building to do his work.

Meanwhile, Elliana, looked at Lucas with a huff, sitting in the back of the car with an angry pout.

"What you did today is totally unacceptable, Mr. Pablo," Elliana said angrily.

Lucas looked at his princess’s angry pout and suppressed the urge to roll his eyes, knowing it would only make her angrier.

"What you were doing wasn’t good either, Princess. I can understand that you don’t want to tell anyone you are married to the prince, but how can you act like I was there to kidnap you?" Lucas asked.

Elliana looked out of the window. There was a reason she didn’t want to tell them anything even more than ever before.

The days were nearing and though Mr. Marino hadn’t said anything about sending her away once his work was done, the fact alone that he has a deep hatred for witches was enough to want to prepare for what was going to happen after ten days.

"Am I to be blamed? I asked you to let me go through my experiments but you were persistent. I already announced to the world that I am hopelessly crushing over Mr. Marino, even after knowing he would never love me back, how can you ask me to follow you in front of everyone? Won’t they think something is going on? Should I start living in isolation now?" Elliana asked, and Lucas looked at her from the rearview mirror, feeling a bit guilty for his extreme reaction earlier.

Then again -

"Why are you trying to make me feel guilty? You were the one who was running around on the terrace as if I was some kind of monster and that finance minister’s son needed to protect you," Lucas raised his brows at her when he saw a small smile appearing on her lips that she was trying so hard to control.

"I am Duke’s son, for god’s sake! And even more than that I am the secondhand man of the most dangerous vampire prince. How was it looking when I was playing catch the cat with you? I almost felt like I was trying to get a hold of a naughty kid. And stop smiling like that. Oh god, what kind of reputation am I left with?" Lucas scoffed, and Elliana bit the inside of her cheeks, touching the tips of her fingers together.

"Don’t act cute!" Lucas gritted his teeth, remembering what exactly happened.

~~~~ ten minutes ago~~~~
After Lucas mentioned their prince wanted to see her, and she was the only one who could calm the roaring monster, he had thought, the princess would come with him on her own, but she was adamant about completing a thing in the laboratory, and since he got the orders from the prince, he couldn’t defy him and allow her to do that.
"Princess, stop. We have to leave immediately," Lucas started, feeling uneasy.
He didn’t want to be harsh on her, but he didn’t want to keep his prince waiting either.
"The prince needs you," Lucas added, and Elliana looked at him.
"Did he say he needs me?" Elliana asked, stepping closer to him, making him step back.
Even though she was shorter than him and just a human, there was something about her gaze that always left him wary of her.
"I... He said he wants to see you," Lucas said, gulping under her stern gaze.
"Let me ask you a question, Lucas. When a kid is crying to see their friends who are working or out of town, do you call his friends home or try to coax him into waiting till they are free or back?" Elliana asked.
"We coax the kid into waiting patiently," Lucas said, and before Elliana could smile, Lucas added again.
"But unfortunately, we are not talking about a kid here, Princess. We are talking about a grown-up monster, a devil who is waiting for his possession to come in front of him and calm him down," Lucas said.
"Patience gains sweet fruits," Elliana whispered.
"I will be back in half an hour," Elliana said, and Lucas was about to lunge forward to grab her hand when Dexter, who was standing at some distance and looking at them, noticed Lucas trying to grab Elliana from behind. He used his vampire speed and stood in front of Elliana protectively.
"We all are afraid of the dangerous prince because no one can stand in front of him or make him angry, but that’s not the same case for you, Duke’s son Mr. Lucas. Don’t try to cross your line. She is not some cheap vampire you can grab the hand of any time you want," Dexter’s eyes turned a light shade of red.
Lucas raised his brows, his hands flexing as he was minutes away from throwing hands at him to try to take away their princess from them.
"Princess, tell your ’friend’ here that you are coming with me willingly," Lucas said, looking at Elliana.
"Huh? Why would I do that? I am not," Elliana said with a sweet innocent smile.
Lucas sighed.
"You don’t want to go down that path, princess. If I don’t take you back right now -"
"He will get angry at you. Do you think anything will happen to me?" Elliana smiled even wider, and Lucas understood what she was doing.
"Why?" He asked, trying to ask her what kind of revenge she was taking on him.
"No reason, because you spend more time with him than me?" Elliana mouthed to him, and Dexter, who had his back to her since he was standing in front of her protectively, couldn’t see what she mouthed to Lucas.
"Are you throwing a tantrum?" Lucas asked.
Elliana shrugged.
"Maybe I am," She smiled, making the subordinate sigh.
She was right. If he goes without her, only he will get the backlash. Lucas looked at the princess with an earnest expression, and Elliana smiled at him cunningly.
"Catch me if you can without using your vampire speed, and I will go with you," Elliana said to him.
He thought she was joking since he was sure he wouldn’t be able to match his speed ever, but what happened next took him completely off-guard.
She was faster than any normal human should, jumping over the stairs and walls as if she were a trained cat, making it hard for him to catch her.
And just like that, he was seen jumping around the walls of the university. The Duke’s son was seen jumping walls, panting and sweating to try to catch a human girl that he wasn’t able to.
~~~~ present~~~~

Lucas sighed at the vague memory.

"Mr. Lucas!" Elliana shouted in horror, snapping him out of his thoughts and he looked ahead with wide eyes, applying the brakes as he turned the steering wheel to prevent hitting the man standing in the middle of the road.
