The Masked Vampire King's Accidental Bride
Chapter 398: He misses her

Chapter 398: He misses her

"Will you be fine on your own now? You won’t go around opening portals of hell again, right?" The dean mused as soon as he dropped her on the terrace, and the girl looked down with a small nod.

"I won’t," She whispered.

She was scared and angry at herself for doing something like this that had no way out and for her powers to give up when she was there.

The dean who was about to leave, felt her turmoil and sighed, feeling pity for her.

"Little girl, don’t pressure yourself so much. You are already doing great at your age and handling things better than many high-power and level witches I know. If you keep thinking about negative things, they are bound to happen," The Dean stepped close to her before holding her hand and massaging the area between her thumb and index finger to hold her calm.

He smiled when Elliana looked up at him.

"I saw your past when I touched your hands earlier. You are sad that you only have 10 days with your husband, but don’t you think you should focus on living these ten days the best? Who knows what the future holds? I don’t think you two will separate so easily. If it’s love, no one can take him away from you, not even his hatred," The dean said, caressing her hair.

Elliana looked into his genuine eyes before nodding, her eyes brimming with tears. She didn’t know she needed to hear someone mentioning this span and comforting her until the dean did so.

With a soft smile, she wiped her tears with the back of her hand.

"I will do that," she bobbed her head up and down in agreement, and the dean smiled.

"Take care. I will see you soon for your further pieces of training. Your volcano one is still pending, and because of everything happening around you, the training has been delayed quite a lot. Sort out things in your heart because it will need full concentration," the dean suggested to her before disappearing into thin air.

As soon as the dean left, the door of the terrace was banged open, and Elliana turned to her right from where Dexter entered.

"Geez, where have you been? I have been calling your phone non-stop and you didn’t pick up. I thought you got lost or something once again," Dexter rushed to her.

She looked into his eyes, remembering what they were talking about, and sighed.

She had no answers to his question at the moment, and thus, she used the last resort that she used with Mr. Marino too.

Elliana gave Dexter the best smile she could give before sighing.

She took a deep breath and held his hand, stepping closer to him, making his eyes flicker to their hands and then back to her eyes that were looking at him with utmost sincerity and genuineness.

"I will tell you everything after 11 days. The truth will come out itself. Will you trust me enough till then?" Elliana asked, hoping to hear a yes.

"Do you want me to wait? Can I trust you to tell me everything before you do to anyone? Can I hope to be your best friend and the only friend to know your secrets?" Dexter asked.

Elliana looked at him for a few seconds before smiling and nodding.

"I will tell you everything myself, but for others, they will find the truth themselves," Elliana whispered, and Dexter hummed, looking satisfied.

Elliana chuckled at his childishness, making him smile and ruffle her hair.

"I like your smile. It breaks my heart when you are sad. That’s what I wish for you, no matter who you love or who you stay with, I just want you to keep smiling," Dexter said.

Elliana’s smile faltered a little as her heart clenched at the seriousness in his voice, feeling bad for one of her only friends who had stood by her side no matter what she revealed to them.

"Will you believe me if I say I am a witch?" Elliana asked, and Dexter chuckled at her.

"I would believe you more if you said you are a devil in disguise," Dexter shook his head, taking her words as a childish declaration, and Elliana smiled awkwardly.

She was about to tell him that she was telling him the truth and she could prove it to him when she heard distant footsteps, and the smile on her face disappeared as she recognized the familiar vibes.

This was something she had found out about herself. Because of her increasing powers, she has started to guess people’s presence with their vibes now.

"To what honor did I receive your presence," Elliana said without looking up, and Dexter turned around when he also felt the man’s presence.

"How are you doing Elliana?" Aditya asked, and Elliana smiled at him, her smile clearly fake.

"Better than how your fiance wanted me to be," Elliana whispered in her usual soft voice.

"I didn’t... There is no explanation for anything. All I can say is, I am sorry. I am sorry for not being there for you. Everything was happening right in front of my eyes, but I was so blinded by what Madeline was showing me that I couldn’t -"

"You couldn’t see that I was hurting. You couldn’t see my wounds and all those bruises. Even when you are to become the next council head and can see through things and read between the lines, you somehow couldn’t see my pain, my affection for you? I get it," Elliana nodded at Aditya who clenched his teeth.

He knew the wounds, the pain was etched deep into Elliana’s body and soul and there was no way a single apology was going to make up for it.

"I am not here to ask for your apology, Elliana. I just want to tell you I will try my best to atone for my sins. There is a saying that someone who stays quiet about a sin also becomes an accomplice. I will repent, Elliana. Please just let me be by your side," Aditya said.

She was about to tell him to not sweat it because she had Mr. Marino by her side, but to their surprise, Aditya fell to his knees.

Elliana’s heart skipped a beat when she saw the genuine guilt in his eyes.

She felt contemplated as her resolution trembled.

"I beg you for this one chance," Aditya placed his hand on her foot.

Dexter, who noticed her uncomfortable expression with this human’s actions, immediately grabbed her hand and pulled her away from Aditya.

"What are you doing, Aditya? Do you have no self-conscience? Even if you are asking for forgiveness, don’t you think you are forcing your guilt on her by doing things like these? I don’t know what happened or what wrong you did to her, but your acting like this is only making it awkward for her," Dexter said, standing in front of her protectively.

Elliana raised her gaze and looked at the man in front of her.

She was thankful to the goddess for having given her this kind of friend who doesn’t think about anything before taking her stand and defending her.

Not only now, but even in front of the royals and other vampires, he never shied away from showing his support to her.

She smiled at him gratefully, the smile that didn’t go unnoticed by Aditya, and one more person who didn’t expect her to act like that.

"Princess!"

Elliana, who was too dazed with Dexter’s manliness here, shook in her place and looked at the entrance of the terrace.

Elliana’s brows narrowed.

This was the first time he raised his voice at her like this.

"What are you flirting with other men?" Lucas asked, and Elliana squinted her brows at his choice of words.

"Flirting?" She asked, her voice coming more amused than she had intended.

"Yes. You... One man is holding your hand and another man is on his knees for you. If our prince found out about this, don’t you know how he would react?" Lucas asked.

Dexter furrowed his brows at the subordinate’s choice of words.

"Don’t you think you are crossing a line here? Are you trying to tell her to stop living her life or interacting with her friends just because your prince won’t like it? Aren’t you imposing too much onto her? A human girl who doesn’t belong to you," Dexter asked, and Aditya looked at Lucas before looking at Elliana.

It was clear Dexter didn’t know anything related to her marriage.

"I will make it up to you," Aditya whispered to her before leaving.

"What are you doing here, Mr. Pablo?" Elliana asked, and Lucas cleared his throat.

"The prince wants to see you," Lucas said, and Elliana quirked her brows.

"But there is still a lecture left," she said, her cheeks turning red at the thought of Mr. Marino missing her, and Lucas immediately noticed it.

"I don’t know about that. He said he wants to see you now. This... He went to the royal palace and things didn’t turn out well in the end. Only you can calm him," Lucas didn’t mind hiding his words in front of Dexter.

He wanted this finance minister’s son to know how important this girl was to their prince so that he could also understand their prince would snap anyone who would come between him and this girl.
