Chapter 397: Questions about Eros
Chapter 397: Questions about Eros
"Mmhhmm, Mr. Marino," Elliana whispered when she felt someone caressing her hair.
A smile appeared on her lips subconsciously before she opened her eyes.
She blinked her eyes softly to get used to the light before looking to her left where the person touching her hair was.
This wasn’t her Mr. Marino. Her heart thumped and disappointment took over.
"Who are you?" She asked, feeling conscious when she noticed the unfamiliar surroundings.
"I am a doctor," The man in front of her said.
Elliana furrowed her brows before she remembered what happened. She looked around, more cautious.
Fear immediately clouded her eyes when she remembered Lord Ahriman putting that hot blade on her neck and asking her who she was. It looked like he was suspecting her of something or probably someone.
She immediately backed away from the doctor’s hand, sitting abruptly while holding the blanket close to her chest.
It was amazing how even the hell looked and matched with the real world. There were palaces, well-decorated rooms, and probably all the facilities too given how she was lying on a bed.
"So there are doctors in hell too," Elliana whispered to herself as if she was collecting some kind of information.
Lord Ahriman, who had gone out to talk to his people through their demonic link, looked at the girl with stern eyes.
Elliana’s gaze immediately became alert.
This man in front of her wasn’t someone she should joke around. More importantly, her powers seemed to be unreactive to his advances, and it wasn’t a good thing.
He wanted her dead. And her powers’ negligence was a downfall she wasn’t ready for.
Her fists tightened around the blanket. She didn’t want to be here near this man.
Mr. Marino. She wanted to be with him.
Elliana nipped at her nails, wanting to ask them how to get out of there, but with everyone looking at her like she was a spy, how was she supposed to do that?
Tears welled in her eyes, and she looked at her hands helplessly.
"I want to go back," she mumbled, and the Lord in front of her suppressed the urge to scoff.
As if they didn’t know that.
"I will ask you one question, and I want a very clear answer to that. How are you related to Eros?" Lord Ahriman asked her.
Elliana looked at him confused, her gaze flickering to everyone around her so she could get a hint of who they were talking about.
"Eros who?" Elliana said after some time when she couldn’t find anything she could use, and Ahriman looked at her with a neutral expression before taking a deep breath.
He remembered something.
In all her useless stories earlier, she had mentioned that mixed-breed prince quite a few times. Wasn’t he also Eros’s son whom he couldn’t accept because of kingdom pressure?
Lord Ahriman raised his gaze, an understanding dawning upon him.
It was clear this girl didn’t know anything, and the fact alone was beyond annoying. How was she alive as an oblivious person for so long?
"I have a proposition for you," Ahriman walked around the bed to stand close to her, his stern gaze stopping her from moving any further.
"The man who you claim to know everything about you, Prince Nathaniel it is, right? You will have to promise to lead me to him once we go back. If you didn’t, I wouldn’t have a problem dragging you back to hell with your hair in my fists so that I could burn you in the fire of hell," his eyes shone bright red, indicating just how serious he was about this.
He didn’t want her to know that he already knew who Nathaniel was.
Elliana gulped before nodding. A hope shone in her heart. Anywhere was better than this place where Mr. Marino wasn’t there.
"I give you my word," Elliana whispered, and the Lord nodded before looking at his subordinate.
Unlike the dark witches who needed permission to enter this place, Lord Ahriman didn’t need any permission to enter any kind of realm. He was called the demon lord for a reason.
After vampires and dark witches, they were the most untamed species who never abode any law.
In fact, it was hard to decipher if they were the strongest among all. They had some of the powers of a dark witch and drank blood like vampires.
"Let’s go," Lord Ahriman extended his hand for her, and she looked at his hand warily, her gaze stern.
"I won’t bite," he said when he saw her looking at him with discomfort.
Elliana extended her trembling hand, looking at the fire that immediately started engulfing her hand before her gaze flickered to his eyes which were also looking at their hands.
"Taipan,"
She heard Lord Ahriman hiss once again.
Taipan. She said the word in her mind, feeling like she had heard it quite a few times.
Elliana turned to look at the man who extended his hand in front of them, opening his palm, and as soon as he did that, a portal-like thing started forming.
"Step into it with me," Lord Ahriman said and Elliana followed his lead, her entire body jerking when she exited the hell and came back to the real world.
"We are here. Now keep your promise," Lord Ahriman said, and Elliana raised her hand in the air, her gaze not leaving the lord’s eyes.
"Finde mich, Nathaniel," Elliana whispered.
Meanwhile, Nathaniel who was about to enter the dark witch’s kingdom to look for a powerful dark witch who could help them without telling Azura about anything, raised his brows when he felt Elliana’s call through his powers.
"She is back," Nathaniel said.
"She is? But how is that possible? Is something -" The Dean started, stopping when he saw Nathaniel’s stern gaze.
"She is calling me," Nathaniel said before closing his eyes, and the dean followed suit.
In the middle of his teleportation, Nathaniel felt the indescribable pressure from the area he was leading to, and he knew something was wrong.
He looked at the dean to let him know they might get into some kind of trouble, but to his surprise, he was nowhere to be seen.
Is this fool so eager to meet her? Nathaniel thought, hoping it wasn’t something too bad.
He had thought about all the things and people he might get to see with Elliana after everything going around them, but even he wasn’t prepared to see who it was.
The first thing that Nathaniel looked at once she reached there was Elliana’s hand in the hell lord’s hand and the fire traveling between the two.
"Please tell me this is the test where you check the witches and their powers," Nathaniel said, and the hell lord immediately extended his hand to shake with Nathaniel.
"Taipan’s son," Lord Ahriman said, and Elliana finally clicked what it meant.
"It’s a snake," Elliana whispered to no one, catching everyone’s attention.
"Hmm?" The dean asked.
"Taipan. It’s the most venomous snake in the world. Nathaniel, are you the son of a snake?" Elliana caught everyone off guard with her words.
Nathaniel - "..." Look at her calling her father a snake.
The dean and Lord Ahriman, who wasn’t used to her random words - "..." (This girl is in her right mind, right?)
Nathaniel shook the Lord’s hand, his fire immediately extinguishing as soon as he held his hand.
"Are you fine?" Nathaniel turned to the girl, pulling her in for a hug.
"What the hell were you doing?" He asked, and Lord Ahriman looked at the duo, unsure of their relationship.
It definitely didn’t look like a brother-and-sister relationship. So how was this girl really related to Eros?
"I came here to escort her and because I have some questions. Especially regarding Eros," Lord Ahriman’s gaze turned stern and serious, and Nathaniel looked at the dean.
"Take her away," He ordered.
Elliana wanted to stay and know about what this man was talking about, and probably find out a bit about her friend of so many years, but one look at the Lord’s dark red blazing eyes, and she gulped before hiding behind the dean, not saying anything anymore.
"Let’s go," Elliana whispered.
