Chapter 346: A little forgiveness

Chapter 346: A little forgiveness

In the Creta regions of the Silver Moon mountains, Nathaniel sat in one of the rooms of the magical castle that was created by one of the witches there.

He smoked the herbs that were used to replenish their Magna while relieving their stress at the same time.

"Are you sure about it? In our 16 years of acquaintance-ship, since you won’t call it friendship, I haven’t heard you talk about him after that dreaded night," The man in front of him asked, Nathaniel looked out of the window with his legs plopped on the table in front of him.

He sighed.

He knew it was shocking for his so-called friend.

Heck, if he was the same person as a month ago, and someone would’ve told him he would be deciding this, Nathaniel would’ve burnt that man for even spouting this kind of nonsense.

"I know, right? It’s amazing how a little truth about your life that has been kept hidden from you can change you so much," Nathaniel looked at the paperweight in his hand as he played with it.

His friend, one of the eleventh-level witches looked at him, aware of all the turmoil that was going on inside the mixed-breed prince.

It wasn’t something anyone would take easily. People, his level, rain havoc when they find out something this heart-wrenching.

"I loathed him all my life, not even wanting to see his face. He ruined my life. That’s what I thought, and even when he wasn’t alive, he ruined my love life. So why shouldn’t I loathe him?" Nathaniel scoffed before putting his cigar in the ashtray and grabbing the drink in front of them instead.

"I came up with all the reasons that I could, to hate him, but in the end, one thing still overshadowed it. He loved us. No matter what kind of fate he or we met, he loved us truly and wanted nothing more than a happy life," Nathaniel let out a drawn-out sigh.

He stood and walked to the other side of the balcony that faced the witch kingdom. The black diamond star of the highest magic castle in the dark kingdom was visible from his place.

Nathaniel’s gaze stopped on the black star which was the sole indication of the dark witch’s rule. It was the place that was supposed to be his, but the people never accepted him. He scoffed in his head before taking another sip of his drink.

"That’s why now that I know the truth about him, about our destiny, I want to pay him my respect. It’s his death anniversary. I don’t know if the souls watching over is real or not, but by going there, I just want to let him know that I forgave him," Nathaniel looked over his shoulder, his friend immediately understanding what he intended to do.

The look Nathaniel was giving him meant only one thing. Mess.

And he was always for some mischievousness when it came to his friend.

"Pluto," Nathaniel nodded to him while the man in question smirked at him.

"Let’s go. Let them see their prince who was now so overbearing that he was ready to take a twelfth-grade witch," Pluto said.

Nathaniel rolled his eyes at his friend’s exaggeration as he wore his overcoat.

"You do know that there is nothing like a twelfth-level witch," he murmured.

"It’s a thing. If I say it’s a thing, it means it is. Besides, don’t you know? They are already discussing increasing the level and grades of the witches based on their powers and years of practice along with the unique spells and techniques they bear.

And honestly, I agree. It’s unfair to put all the witches in the tenth, or now eleventh-grade witches when they are on completely different levels," Pluto said.

"Let’s go," Nathaniel said, not commenting anything on what Pluto said. It didn’t matter.

From what he had been seeing and hearing, only one witch in his contact was capable of surpassing them all. Her biggest downfall was her incapability to land a smooth and targeted attack.

And it worked very well for the benefit of the world. He only needed her to learn to control and not any new spells that she might use against anyone else.

Pluto saw his friend getting lost in his thoughts once again and immediately knew it was all because of that mysterious girl that he hadn’t allowed anyone to meet or talk about in their friend’s circle.

Both of them used their magical powers to break the magical translucent barrier that kept the dark witch world hidden from the other species.

Everyone felt their houses shaking, a clear indication that there was an invasion in the kingdom.

Nathaniel stood in front of the cemetery of his father and sighed.

"I will give you a moment alone with your father while I have some fun with these dark witches," Pluto grinned, and Nathaniel hummed vaguely.

As soon as Pluto left, Nathaniel fell to his knees, the confidence he was radiating earlier replaced by the vulnerable expression of the kid who never got his father’s love and whose family and people abandoned him when he was not even in a position to defend himself and prove to them he was worthy.

He wanted to prove to all of them that he was worthy of being called their King’s son.

Nathaniel sighed and looked down at his lap before he raised his hand, and a bouquet of black roses appeared in his hand.

He sighed and placed the roses on the marble of his father’s tomb.

"There were quite a few words," Nathaniel started before pausing and looking at the name on the tomb.

"Not a few, but many words. I wanted to say so many things to you. I thought when I meet you again, regardless of the position and place, I would ask you all those questions that haunted my nights and became my dark reality in the morning all those times. But now that I am here, I can’t bring myself to say anything. The only thing I can think about is how much I missed you," Nathaniel’s lips trembled at the last sentence.

"I missed you, father. I don’t know if you’ll ever get to hear what I have to say to you now. Maybe watching over is just a myth that people exaggerate to console someone after the death of a loved one, but if there is even 0.00001% truth to it, I just want you to know that I have forgiven you. You don’t need to worry about your daughter. She is alive and healthy. I will protect her and fulfill all my brotherly duties," Nathaniel placed his hand on his face.

His shoulders shook with the sobs that he was trying to control, and Pluto who was standing at some distance sighed after he broke into a few empty houses and crashed into the tallest palace in the kingdom.

"Hey, man, it’s okay. Just let it out. No one’s going to judge you for letting out a few tears. Just let it out," Pluto squeezed Nathaniel’s shoulders comfortingly before he sat on the ground with him.

"Here, place your hand here and cry in the embrace of your father, the embrace that you craved all your life," Pluto placed his hand on the tomb, and as soon as he did that, his gaze darkened at the sensation and coldness he felt.

To say he was shocked would be an understatement.

Was this for real? Pluto’s body went rigid, and Nathaniel noticed it even when he was sad and mourning for his father.

"What is it?" Nathaniel asked, but Pluto grabbed his hand and placed it over the cold marble.

"What are you trying to -" Nathaniel’s brows narrowed in confusion before they relaxed, turned serious, and then changed to pure anger.

"What the hell?!" Nathaniel stood from his place, his eyes turning a dark shade of violet with hints of blue.
