The Masked Vampire King's Accidental Bride
Chapter 347: The greatest lies of all time

Chapter 347: The greatest lies of all time

"This has to be a joke. There is no way this is true!" Nathaniel roared, practically breaking the tomb.

Pluto thinned his lips. He could see the truth in front of him, but it was obvious that speaking about it would only hurt Nathaniel more.

It was shocking, surprising, unbelievable, unexpected, or whatever that defined their state of mind right now.

"Nathaniel, calm down. This is not the time to -" Pluto started, but rather than listening to him, Nathaniel grabbed the upper marble of the tomb and used his powers to break it into tiny pieces.

He looked at the coffin in front of him, his gaze turning dark with each passing second. Though he was angry and everything, anyone could see he was trembling inside. He opened it, wanting to confirm his suspicion even when he knew it was the truth.

Pluto also paused. They looked at the thing inside the coffin before Pluto turned to face Nathaniel.

He didn’t blame him. Anyone was supposed to act like that when faced with things like this.

The coffin was empty, with only a few dry flowers lying at the bottom of it.

"What is this?" Pluto expressed his surprise before looking at Nathaniel, who was seething already.

This wasn’t good. A witch as powerful as him shouldn’t become so angry.

"Hey, let’s not jump to conclusions. Maybe the body decayed? It has been around 19 years, no? Maybe something happened to -" Pluto started but stopped when Nathaniel moved again.

The prince bent and touched the coffin before closing his eyes to see if he could find something through the timeline, like if someone else touched it and took the body away or anything that could console him, but nothing.

There hasn’t been anything in the coffin all these years. It was empty all this time. It was all a lie, and as the realization dawned upon him, it brought him to another major question.

If his dad was not here, then where was he?

Everything started to tangle and make a mess again.

Why wasn’t he here? He remembered that his father was buried here only. It was the fall of the town and all the species since he wasn’t a normal witch but the king of dark witches. His death and burial were public. That’s what Arizona told him, and that’s what Azura knew too.

It was clear she lied to him. The facts about his father’s body being buried in the royal cemetery of the kingdom, everything were lies. But why would she do it? What else was so important that she had to hide such a big thing from him?

Wait. Does Azura know that her husband wasn’t in this tomb? From what he heard, in her anger at King Eros for leaving her and choosing death while their daughter was taken away from her too, Azura never once visited the tomb.

It meant the only person who knew about this was -

Arizona.

"Arizona. She is the only one who can give me any kind of answer now," Nathaniel looked around, feeling lost for a moment.

All his life he thought his father was dead and buried here. All his life he spent without the love and care of his father, hating him, and now that he was here today to atone for his sins and ask for forgiveness, he wasn’t here?

How was this possible? How can his father not be here?

’Were all those lies not enough, Arizona? Was it not enough for you?’ Nathaniel clenched his hands, feeling even more betrayed than ever.

At this point, he wondered if his father was even dead in the first place.

"So, are you going to confront Arizona now? I mean is it really okay for you to do that? If what I am thinking is true, that witch hid information about your father for 19 long years. And even after telling you the major truth, she kept this one thing hidden. Do you think she will give in easily?" Pluto asked.

Nathaniel calmed down at his question.

Though the turmoil was still brewing in his heart, he was no longer losing his control like earlier.

What Pluto was saying was indeed right.

After everything that he has seen and how meticulously Arizona has kept all those secrets hidden, it wouldn’t be surprising if she already has a backup plan to hide the truth further away from him.

"I won’t go to Arizona then. It’s obvious that she is hiding something big from all of us. First I need to know if Azura knows about this truth or not," Nathaniel said to Pluto.

That was the right decision in his mind.

Azura was a dark witch, and they are known for their evil thoughts. She was madly in love with her husband King Eros. She will wreak havoc if she doesn’t know about it either.

It would help him know the truth and probably reveal Azura’s intentions too.

From the moment Nathaniel heard that Azura knows about Elliana and still hasn’t made it known to Arizona, a few things theories have been going inside his head.

There were two things the most prominent ones.

First, Azura still hasn’t come to the realization that Elliana is her daughter and she is only attracted to her because her powers feel familiar to her.

Second, Azura knows Elliana is her daughter, but she hasn’t been able to form a motherly bond with her. This means she might try to use Elliana and her powers to bring back King Eros from the dead.

It wouldn’t be surprising if Azura’s powers had already found out that Elliana hid the siren queen’s powers who knew how to bring the dead back to life.

She might also know the siren queen has already been reborn and was trying to find ways to get her powers back.

It means Azura would try to strike Elliana before something like that happens. If Azura still hasn’t formed a motherly bond with Elliana, she is Elliana’s biggest threat to life at the moment.

Nathaniel’s mind started connecting the dots, and Pluto who could very well hear his thoughts because of the lack of a barrier, sighed.

"Nath, do you think a mother would go against her only daughter? She might be a dark witch, but aren’t you being a bit too suspicious of her? She is her mother. A mother’s love for their child is unquestionable regardless of the species they belong to. I understand you are trying to come to terms with -" Pluto started to talk some sense into his friend when Nathaniel smiled at him subtly.

"Azura wanted to kill Elliana even when she was born. She hated Elliana because she was still-born, there’s no doubt about that, but I have been talking and finding the dark witches who served as maids in the royal palace.

They told me that Azura hated Elliana the most in the last few days when she found out King Eros was thinking of sacrificing himself. The only person she ever loved was King Eros," Nathaniel said.

Pluto immediately quietened. "So what are you planning now? You want to protect the girl. I get it. But do you think you are strong enough to fight back the strongest witches who were the founders of the light and dark world?" he asked.

Nathaniel used his magic to turn the tomb as it was before they used their magna to vanish and appear back into the same room.

"You are right, Pluto.

I am not going to fight those witches now. They will fight among themselves. If Azura didn’t know that King Eros wasn’t buried there, I wonder what she would do when she finds out Arizona probably hid him somewhere else, or worse, he was alive and Arizona kept it from her," Nathaniel said before he raised his hand to perform a spell to locate the dark witch.

Usually locating a witch of such powers wasn’t easy, but because Nathaniel was a mixed-breed witch, it wasn’t hard for him.

He was ready to spill the beans to Azura and have the sisters fight, but what he hadn’t expected was to see her standing in front of Elliana.

"Who is this man? Wait. Isn’t this the youngest masked prince? The prodigy one?" Pluto asked, but Nathaniel shook his head.

"No. He isn’t just that only. I am ashamed, but he is someone, and it hurts to say, but the only one who can protect Elliana from every witch in the world at the moment," Nathaniel signed, his hands clenched by his side.

Meanwhile, in the Himalayan mountains, inside the hidden chamber, Arizona looked at the scene in front of her with a rare smile, a smile that wasn’t suitable for any white-class witch.

Things were going as she had planned. This girl Elliana was growing exactly how she wanted her to be. Such a good-looking, obedient tool. Arizona scoffed before walking and sitting on her throne as she wiped her fake tears.

Years of practice indeed have made her a professional.
