"Princess, are you sure about it? You are still having problems walking. How will you manage it? Besides, Mr. Marino clearly ordered not to let you go anywhere so -" Miss Zoya started but before she could say anything else, a knock reverberated in the hall, and everyone looked towards the entrance of the palace.

"Is the Princess ready?"

It was the Chauffeur.

Miss Zoya furrowed her brows.

"Who contacted you?" She asked before looking at the princess who was sorting out something in her bag, more like fishing something out.

"I called him. I am sorry that I have to put you in a tight spot, Miss Zoya, but this experiment is really important to me. If Mr. Marino had been here, he would’ve taken me to the university himself. I worked hard on it, almost daily, and if I don’t go today, all my hard work will go to waste. Please understand my dilemma. My exams are coming too, and I can’t afford to waste any more time," Elliana said, and Miss Zoya looked at the chef for any suggestions.

"I suggest you should let her go," The chef said, and Miss Zoya finally nodded.

After having her breakfast, Elliana walked to the car and nodded at the chauffeur.

She knew she was probably making a mistake by going against Mr. Marino’s words, but at the end of the day, he might leave her alone while her experiments were going to stay with her.

After twenty minutes, they reached the university, and she got out of the car.

"Would you like me to help you to the inside of the building, Princess?" The chauffeur asked, but Elliana shook her head.

"Please go ahead. I will be fine," Elliana said, and the chauffeur nodded before sitting inside and leaving, making her sigh.

She took a deep breath and started walking towards the university. Thanks to Nathaniel, her leg was much better now and healing at an even faster pace.

"You have got to be kidding me. Couldn’t you rest at home for some time?" She heard a voice before she was picked in a pair of familiar arms, and she nearly squealed.

"Daniel?" She looked into his baby blue eyes, and he looked back at her with a sigh.

"Why do you keep making me worried about you, woman? Aren’t you supposed to be a timid little human who doesn’t have any relationship with vampires and is always scared of them? Look at you, wrapping all the vampires around your little finger," Daniel scoffed as if it was Elliana’s fault that he was attracted to her, and she wriggled in his arms.

"Well, I don’t want you to be wrapped around my fingers. Let me go," Elliana hissed, angered that he would accuse her of seducing the man indirectly.

"I can’t. It isn’t as if I didn’t try, but I can’t let you go so easily," Daniel looked into her eyes, his genuine emotions reflecting in his pupils, and Elliana paused her struggle.

He... he was serious for her.

This wasn’t good. She can’t be playing with anyone’s feelings just because she can’t reveal her identity to anyone. This was wrong.

She knew he liked her, but these emotions would only increase if she didn’t reveal something for him to stop. She has to do something.

"Daniel, I already love someone else," Elliana blurted out without a second thought, and even Alcinder and Samantha, who were walking behind them, paused momentarily.

"What the - when did it happen?" Melony was the first one to squeak while Elliana just kept looking into Daniel’s eyes, which looked like something broke inside them.

Dexter, who had heard her about her liking someone before too felt his heart prick at the mention of love.

"Who is the lucky one? Is he from the university? Do we know him?" Melony was the only one excited, and Elliana hummed.

She didn’t move her gaze from Daniel’s eyes.

"You guys know him. He isn’t from this University. It’s the man who keeps bothering me, the youngest prince of the royal Kingdom. The masked Prince that everyone calls a devil," Elliana confessed for the first time, and to say everyone was shocked would be an understatement.

"You what -" Dexter was the first one to raise his voice while Daniel dropped her on the ground in shock, making her wince in pain.

"Daniel! Have you lost your mind!" Samantha shrieked as they all smelt a new wave of blood, and looked down at Elliana, whose hands were scratched on the stone.

Elliana didn’t blame him. She deserved it for playing with his feelings for so long and not opening up with her feelings.

"Have I lost my mind? Yes, I have. Didn’t you hear? This girl, who has been bullied by that prince countless times has fallen in love with him. Do you think I am the one with a few screws loose here?" Daniel asked, enraged, his eyes turning red.

Dexter couldn’t believe it either. He looked at her in shock, but still bent on the ground to help her up.

He saw tears prickling her eyes and sighed.

"I... I can’t get up," she whispered, a few tears falling on her cheeks, and Dexter’s gaze quivered.

His eyes narrowed as he glared at Daniel.

"As if she wasn’t hurt enough, you have to hurt her for something she can’t control? Did she ask you to fall for her? Did she ask anyone to care for her? I don’t remember her begging you. Who gave you the right to hurt her even more?" Dexter hissed as he put her arms around his shoulders.

Daniel looked down at her, his heart clenching painfully.

"Elliana, sweetheart. I don’t think you understand that situation here. How can you fall in love with your bully? This is not some teen Romance. Have you ever seen your face?" Samantha asked, and Elliana shook her head.

"I fell in love with his eyes, the way he carries me, takes care of me -"

"Well, that man is playing with you! Can’t you see, you stupid fool! Just because he held you in his arms a couple of times and fed you, you fell in love with him? Do you even know what he is capable of? He was the one who wiped hundreds of humans without blinking his eyes," Daniel said.

Elliana shivered in Dexter’s arms, making him immediately wrap it around her head as he hid her face in his chest.

"Don’t scream at her. You also knew that your father would never agree to a human girl marrying you or being your girlfriend, didn’t you? Did it stop you and your feelings? No one will blame her for anything. Even though she is the stupidest person I have ever met, she is still my best friend," Dexter defended her even when he wanted to knock her head open and see if she threw her brains somewhere.

Daniel looked at her for a few seconds before he sighed and bent down to her eye level.

"I am sorry, okay? I didn’t mean to drop you. But you have to agree that you dropped the bomb on me a bit too suddenly. Now let’s go. Let’s treat your wounds first," Daniel took her from Dexter’s arms, rushing to the infirmary.

"Do you think he is really okay?" Samantha asked Alcinder, and when she didn’t hear an answer, she turned her head to him, pursing her lips when she saw a solemn expression.

The smile on her face faltered. She remembered that he was the only one who didn’t say anything in the whole matter. Did it affect him too? She thought as she saw him walking away with the same expression as if he couldn’t be bothered to talk to anyone right now.

She clenched her hands, unsure of what to feel.
