Chapter 313: Saved by the knights

"What the hell are you doing? If you want to hurt me, then hit me! Why are you hurting her? She is the person your Prince wants me to stay away from. She is his wife. Don’t you even know this much?" Aditya screamed at the guards before coughing blood.

The guards scoffed at him.

"Well, if she is the same person, she should know her limits. How dare she whore around and go into another man’s arms when our prince has treated her nicely?" The guards said.

Elliana looked down at her feet, her legs were scratched, and her back felt like it had been hit by a hammer. The feeling was nowhere near good.

But what hurt the most were the words these guards used on her. Bitch? Whore?

Elliana raised her gaze and looked at them straight in the eyes.

She stood from her place and grabbed the branch of the tree before twisting it and breaking it off the tree.

"Whoring around? Let me show you what this bitch is capable of," Elliana stepped ahead before stumbling back a little.

"Elliana, what are you doing? Have you lost your mind? Do you really think you can fight off these guards?" Aditya asked as he supported himself on the tree, looking at the girl in a new light.

Even when she was herself wounded and coughing blood, she was ready to fight back rather than showing her back and running away.

All for him? She was ready to fight these pathetic monsters for him and dared to say that she didn’t love him anymore. That she doesn’t care for him anymore? If this wasn’t love and care, then what was it?

"I just don’t think I can fight the guards, Aditya," Elliana looked at Aditya.

"I WILL fight the guards," Elliana cracked the bones in her neck.

"This bitch is surely delusional if she thinks she can land a hit on us," the guards said, and they rushed to her.

Elliana tightened her hold on the branch.

She might not have any impact and crumble down.

It was no sword that would hurt them in one hit, that was why the chances of her winning were really slim, but she wasn’t going to run away, not when she was suspicious that these weren’t Mr. Marino’s men despite their uniforms.

"You!" The guards raised their hands to hit Elliana, and she swung the branch on their feet, making them fall.

"This bitch!" The guard raised their hands and she kicked the guard with her good leg, falling in the process.

"Elliana!" Aditya shouted when he saw her falling, and the guards chuckled at her.

"Awe? Has the bitch fallen? Where is the spirit now?" The guards pushed her shoulders, making her wince as she tried to stand again, her powers ready to take over.

"Let me end it for once and all and free our prince from this ugly whore," the guard said, ready to hit her and she closed her eyes with her hands crossed over her head to defend herself, but the hit she thought she would get, never came.

She opened her eyes warily. A shield had formed around her body, but that wasn’t the thing that protected her.

It was the large body of another man covering her.

"Alcinder," Elliana whispered, and the man scoffed.

"How accident-prone can you really be? Why do you keep attracting trouble? Every time we leave you alone, you are in new trouble. How did you make it alive for so long? Makes me want to think if I should just take up the job of being your bodyguard," Alcinder turned to her and sighed.

He cupped her cheeks and wiped the corner of her lips with his thumb.

"Go sit over there. Let me handle them. You did good," Alcinder pulled her close and kissed her forehead, making her eyes tear up immediately, and she nodded.

Aditya looked at the man standing in front of himself and gritted his teeth. He wanted to be the one to save Elliana. Why the hell did things turn out to be like this? He wanted to be the hero here. He was thinking of risking his life for her and earning some good points in her heart.

Seeing Alcinder being so affectionate with Elliana, his hands clenched on his side.

"Yo, she is in trouble again? Don’t worry, sweet little one. Your knights are here," Daniel said as he ruffled her hair, his eyes holding pity as he saw her trying to stand but falling on the ground.

"It looks like she sprained her ankle," Dexter walked to them, his eyes turning red immediately as he looked at the so-called guards.

He looked at them closely, and seeing them looking so warily, he didn’t know why, but he felt like these were the royal guards.

They looked like any normal strong vampires from some fighting club who were given the uniform of the youngest prince’s badge.

"What are you doing here? Why do you want to hurt the human? Don’t you know the peace treaty has been signed? Do you think you can hurt the son of the human council? Who sent you here? Was it the prince himself?" Alcinder emitted his aura, and the guards stumbled back.

"We wanted to hurt him. These were the orders. It’s because he has been lurking around her. The prince didn’t like it and wanted him out of the picture," one of them said, and Dexter scoffed.

"Now we all know that’s a lie. If the prince really wanted someone out of the picture, he wouldn’t have to send guards and use some underhanded means like this. And if it was still true, the person would’ve been me since I am the one who can’t leave her alone and would find any excuse to be near her. So nothing makes sense," Dexter said, and the guards, who felt like they had been caught, looked at Aditya.

"Just because the other vampires are protecting you today, don’t think you will be safe forever," They said before they ran back into the forests, and the boys turned to Elliana.

Though Aditya was the one who got severely hurt, Elliana was once again the protagonist of the story.

They noticed her looking at nothing in particular, and Dexter sighed. He nodded at Alcinder who immediately called medics to attend Aditya while they walked to the girl, who looked like she was still in shock.

"Elliana, are you -"

"Why did you let them go?" She whispered, and Dexter sighed before he pulled her for a hug, making her wince.

"Don’t move her too much. Let’s take her to the hospital. It’s better if she gets a thorough checkup done," Daniel said, and they nodded in agreement before sending her to the hospital in a different ambulance.

Samantha and Melony who heard of the sudden attack on Aditya and Elliana rushed to the hospital.

"Get out of the way. I have to see my fiance," Madeline’s loud voice echoed in the corridors, and Elliana asked Melony to shut the door.

"Are you feeling alright now? Your leg got sprained and your spinal cord took a major blow. You should be happy that it didn’t break or something. I can’t even scold you when I know you are clearly the victim here," Samantha held her hand, and Elliana looked at her phone.

She wanted to call Mr. Marino and tell him what happened to her but -

For some reason, she wasn’t able to move her hand today. And it wasn’t because she was hurt, but maybe she didn’t want him to worry right before the trip.

"It’s okay. Don’t worry about it. It will get better soon," Elliana whispered after some time, and Dexter walked inside the room with some medicine in his hands.

"I have talked to the doctor. You will be able to leave in a couple of hours. Do you want me to call your guardian and inform him or-" he paused and leaned over her.

" -Should I bring you to my place?" He tucked her hair behind her ears, making her roll her eyes.

"Yeah, as if I am allowing that," Elliana said, and Dexter hummed before pulling her cheeks softly.

"Stop making me worry for you all the time, will you? Do you have any idea how bad it could’ve gone if we weren’t there in time? We were taking a stroll around when Daniel thought it was a good idea to ask you if you would like to be our partner for the annual dance and then we heard your scream for help," Dexter said, and Elliana hummed, looking at the other side.

"Can you guys leave me alone for some time? I think you should go back to the classes. Make some notes for me too," Elliana said, and though there was no reason for them to leave, they respected her decision.
