The Masked Vampire King's Accidental Bride -
Chapter 279: I can’t hate you
Chapter 279: I can’t hate you
Nathaniel walked out of the Himalayan palace.
He didn’t need to hear any more of what this so-called truth was.
He walked to the forest where he had met Elliana for the first time, his heart ached at the site, but a small sad smile was etched on his face.
He sat near the lake, moving his fingers in the water, just like she used to when she used to smile at him so freely.
Something changed in his heart. Something left his heart, something that he wasn’t ready to let go of.
The girl he thought he would marry and spend his eternity with turned out to be his half-sister.
Now no matter what he tried to tell himself that probably that was the reason he never thought about her in a perverted way or tried to kiss her because she was his sister, the part of his heart that was wounded terribly today, wouldn’t heal anytime soon.
He chuckled at his destiny.
Every time. Every fucking time he thinks he has a chance at happiness, destiny tells him just how wrong he is with his thoughts.
His father, King Eros, fell in love with a white world witch 29 years ago, and then after a couple of years, his mom got pregnant with him.
The chances of a rare mix breed being born were very slim, and unluckily, Nathaniel was that rare case.
Because of his mixed breed, no one accepted him. His father had to give him to Arizona because she was the only witch queen who agreed to keep him and protect him at all costs.
Maybe it was the regular visits from his father to meet him that made Arizona fall in love with his father, or was it something else? He didn’t know.
When the world and the kingdom he served so long for, forbid to accept his son, his father turned sad, and seeing her husband so sad and her son snatched away from her, Nathaniel’s mother fell into depression.
It started with her refraining herself from using any kind of magic, then it went to her locking herself in her room, skipping meals, and becoming sick.
Nathaniel practically saw his mom dying in front of him little by little. He wanted to go and be with her, but he also knew that his presence would just make things difficult for his mother.
Since she was a white witch who decided to marry the king of the dark world, she had to bear the consequences. She wasn’t accepted into the white Kingdom anymore, and there was no way for her to come and meet him without risking both of their lives.
Only Nathaniel knows how hard it had been for him to recover from his mother’s death.
Soon the Kingdom needed a new queen who would handle the dark witches and their deals.
Arizona was probably a perfect candidate but as she said, her mother didn’t accept their marriage. That’s why her love was left unrequited, while her sister Azura who was also a dark witch because of her practices was allowed to marry the king.
The fatherly love he had as his only hope, started to lessen with time. His attention was on something else, something that he might be able to keep with him. His father’s attention was on the birth of the second kid, Elliana.
Nathaniel laid on his back and closed his eyes. How unlucky he had been in matters of love.
The girl he thought he would love and protect was not only his half-sister but also the reason his father was snatched away from him and sacrificed himself.
And even after knowing all the truth, he can’t go and avenge his loss from her. Because deep down he knew that she lost even more.
He at least got to have his father’s love for six years, but she? She has been living her life like an orphan from the day she was born.
Because they were afraid that her magic would catch up with the surrounding magic of the white Kingdom if they kept her with them, they had to send her to the human kingdom right after she was born.
The first five years that she has no recollection of were actually deliberately deleted from her memories.
Nathaniel smiled, chuckling darkly before he stood from his place.
Here he was worrying and thinking about a person who was the reason his life was partially hell when his own heart had been broken like this.
This situation was ironic.
A storm was brewing in his heart. A storm that he knew he needed out or even he didn’t know what he would end up doing. He tried to talk himself out of it,
When nothing worked out, he decided to go to one person who was the cause of it all. The person around whom everything revolved and this chaos was created.

Elliana, on the other hand, was walking in the forests because Sebastian had to leave to complete his conversation with the grandfather which was left unfinished because of the situation that Elliana still didn’t know anything about.
Sebastian only teased her by saying she almost tried to get herself knocked up last night. And to say it was the most embarrassing moment of her life would be an understatement.
Why? Because she believed him. She has started to like him so much that she doesn’t see any lie in all the things Sebastian said to her that she tried to do last night and wanted him to do.
She smiled shyly, watching the herbs that were randomly grown in the forests, hoping to find anything that would help her make the poison she wanted to start preparing already.
The lab must’ve been set up already. All she needed was her formulas ready before she could dive into experimenting.
As she looked at a pair of leaves growing near an Ashoka tree, she was about to walk to it when she heard some shuffling behind her, and she immediately turned around, her brows raising when she saw Nathaniel standing there with his eyes as dark as the deepest part of the oceans.
Thinking that he was here to scold her for what she did, she smiled at him awkwardly and was about to apologise when she felt it. The sad vibes he was radiating and her heart immediately skipped a beat.
It was as if someone squeezed her heart painfully and tears welled up in her eyes on its own.
She touched her cheeks, the sudden wetness, confusing her.
However, this wasn’t the most important part right now.
"Oh, Nathaniel," Elliana whispered before she opened her arms to invite him for an embrace.
She didn’t know what he was going through, and probably a hug wouldn’t fix everything, but she wanted him to know she was there for him, no matter what happened.
Nathaniel looked at the girl in front of him, the girl he wanted to marry and settle in a place that was as warm as spring, just like she preferred. The girl he thought he would teach magic to once everything was sorted, and the one he thought he would sleep and gaze at starry nights when their kids would be sleeping.
All his dreams, all his desires that he always used to think about whenever he looked into her glassy amber eyes, everything was gone. Shattered.
A tear slipped from his eyes before he fell to his knees in front of her.
"Please send me away, Elliana. Ask me to leave and never come close to you. Tell me you hate me for thinking that I can have a life with you.
Tell me I am an opportunist and a pervert because I wanted to have a married life with you even when you were married," Nathaniel looked at his knees, finding ways to get her to hate him.
Elliana looked at the man whom she had never seen so broken and smiled before she stepped ahead and placed her hand on his head, making him look up.
"Why are you feeling lost? I haven’t gone anywhere, have I? Why do you want to be alone and be hated when all I ever did my entire life was love you?
So what if your definition of love didn’t match mine? So what if you had intentions behind your help and support, did I complain?" Elliana asked, her soft forgiving smile making him guilt-struck even more.
"Why don’t you hate me? Even after knowing I was dreaming of sleeping with you, why don’t you hate me?" He asked, and Elliana smiled before she sat on the ground in Indian style and pulled him down, forcing him to place his head on her lap.
"I don’t know what’s wrong with you and why are you confessing this to me suddenly, but I can’t hate you, Nathaniel. You were with me when the world left me alone. You held my hand when I had no friends and you were my only hope to live for so many years apart from finding my mom. I don’t know what’s wrong, but just know, that I can’t bring myself to ever hate you," Elliana whispered to him.
The more he heard how pure and true Elliana’s friendship had been to him, the more guilty he felt.
And the funny thing was even when he knows how much she yearns for the truth of her own life, he can’t tell her anything. Nathaniel let his tears slide from the corner of his eyes as he sobbed silently with Elliana patting his head softly.
