The Masked Vampire King's Accidental Bride -
Chapter 280: She is definitely hiding something
Chapter 280: She is definitely hiding something
"Are you feeling okay now?" Elliana asked after Nathaniel stopped sobbing.
None of them said anything for quite a few moments before Nathaniel hid his face in her stomach.
"Is it wrong to love you when I know I shouldn’t?" He asked, and Elliana smiled.
"If love was a thing that could be controlled, I would’ve gotten all the love I yearned for all these years. Don’t you think so?
It’s not wrong to love me. But it’s definitely wrong to want a married life with me when you know I am married.
It might be true that Mr. Marino would leave after two months, but it doesn’t mean I can just get married to you and break your heart even more. You don’t deserve it. You deserve to be someone’s first love and unconditional care, Nathaniel," Elliana whispered.
Everything she said was from the bottom of her heart. Before she was married to Mr. Marino, it wouldn’t be wrong to say she had a massive crush on Nathaniel.
The way he used to care for her and hold her hand, looking into her eyes and cup her cheeks, wipe her tears with his thumb, it all attracted her because maybe he was the only person in this world who treated her right before he vanished for such a long period.
"Will it make you feel good if I tell you that before getting married, I was attracted to you?" Elliana whispered while playing with his hair, and Nathaniel sat straight.
"You did?" Nathaniel raised his brows.
"Aren’t you a bit too happy about it?" Elliana asked before she mused.
"Nathaniel, a little birdie is telling me something terrible happened or you wouldn’t have asked me to tell you to go away," Elliana looked into his eyes before cupping his cheeks.
"You know you can share anything with me. I might not have the strongest powers, but I can burn castles for you," Elliana whispered with a smile, and Nathaniel chuckled.
He placed his hand on his face and chuckled, tears flowing down from his eyes.
"I guess breaking and burning castles runs in the blood," he mused before wiping his tears.
"I won’t stop loving you. Just, I’ll try to love you in a more brotherly manner," Nathaniel said before he scowled.
"Wait a second. A little birdie told you? Where are you learning these dark witches phases?" Nathaniel asked, and Elliana immediately looked down at her feet, her eyes wide like a deer caught in a headlight.
Nathaniel pressed his lips into a thin line. This girl surely is a handful.
"Who is coming to meet you, Elliana? And I only want the truth," Nathaniel grabbed her jaws and forced her to look into his eyes.
"It’s... I don’t know... it’s a witch called Azura. She is a good woman," Elliana smiled, and the smile on Nathaniel’s face froze.
"How many times have you guys met?" He asked. Elliana counted on her fingers before lifting three fingers at him.
Nathaniel massaged his forehead and nodded.
"We will start your training with the powers once you are back, okay? Take care till then. I will come to visit you quite often now," Nathaniel said before he kissed her forehead, wanting to bury all his romantic love for him with this kiss.
"By the way, I wanted to ask you something, Nathaniel. I kind of need help with my powers related to something," Elliana asked, and Nathaniel sat seriously.
"What is it?" He asked.
"Can my powers help me create vampire poison? I want the deadliest one. I mean, it’s okay if it’s a mediocre level too, and I’ll just check the constitutions and then create a deadly one of my own, but it will shorten my work at least by ten folds, can I do that? I am imagining it in my head and clicking my fingers, but nothing is appearing," Elliana whispered looking at him with a pout.
Nathaniel -"..."
Well, on a serious note, it’s better I am not married to her or she would’ve started creating the witches’ poison and ended more than half of the population with it.
Nathaniel smiled stiffly.
"You fool," he said before he flicked her forehead, making her land on her back because of the impact.
"Owww! What was that for?! It hurts," Elliana massaged her forehead.
"For knocking some sense into that empty brain of yours. You have to spend two months here, can’t you do it nicely? Why do you have to go around creating poisons?" Nathaniel asked, and Elliana was about to answer him when they heard some shuffling, and Nathaniel immediately vanished, making Elliana sigh.
She kept lying there, looking at the sky as if it was the best thing in the world. A small smile stretched on her lips as she looked at the flying birds.
"Well, this wasn’t the sight I was hoping to see when I came for a stroll to clear my head," Elliana heard Prince Stephano’s voice, and she looked at him before sighing.
"What are you doing on the ground, princess?" He asked when she didn’t say anything or make any moves to get up.
"I fell," She answered, and he chuckled before shaking his head and sitting beside her.
"Why are you sitting on the ground, Prince Stephano? You don’t have to -"
"I know I don’t have to. But I am a gentleman. How can I stand above a lady when she is lying on the ground like this," Stephano said before his gaze fell on her red forehead.
"Surprisingly, you fell backward but the red marks are on the front of your forehead," Stephano took a deep breath when Elliana sat too, folding her legs to the side, making him look at her hand where her wound was completely healed now.
"Last night was quite an interesting scene for all of us. It was the first time we saw -" Stephano was about to say that it was the first time they saw someone holding Sebastian’s collar and surviving apart from the royal family when he remembered that Sebastian has started some fucked up games about the mask and without mask different personality.
"I am sorry for what happened last night. I still don’t recollect what happened. All I know is that I drank some water and the rest is a blur," Elliana sighed, and Stephano hummed.
"You love him, don’t you?" Stephano dropped the bomb out of nowhere, and Elliana looked at him surprised.
Where did it come from? Is it because of something she did last night? Did she confess or something?
Elliana thought, thinking of hundreds of sentences that she might have accidentally said, but Stephano only smiled at her before saying something that she had least expected him to.
"You are the one who is behind Prince Harry’s disappearing case, right?" He asked.
Thump!
Elliana’s heart dropped into the pit of her stomach before it started beating loudly.
"These are yours, aren’t they?" Stephano placed the earrings in front of her, and Elliana looked at them warily, her fingers trembling slightly.
She had thought that she committed a clean crime and no evidence was left at the sight or on her clothes.
She should’ve known that someone would ask her this question when she had noticed her missing earring, but she had never thought it would be the most observant person in the family who is quite hard to fool. Elliana looked at the earring before looking at the prince who was observing her every reaction.
Right now wasn’t the time to panic. One mistake and our cover would blow up. Elliana smiled even though her insides were trembling before she nodded.
"These are indeed mine," she said, and Stephano quirked his brows.
He hadn’t expected her to agree to it so easily despite whether she did or not. She must be thinking about something to defend -
"But I hope the prince knows he is making a rather big allegation against me. I have a habit of strolling in the forest wherever I go. Be it our university, Mr. Marino’s palace, or here.
Even though I had given a few pairs of my earrings and bangles to the maid serving me because I felt they would look good on her, I don’t think it proves the fact that a human could possibly commit such a perfect crime," Elliana smiled.
Stephano would’ve believed every word she said. Her explanation and countering were perfect.
However, it was because it was perfect that Stephano felt more suspicious of her. It was almost as if she was ready to answer this question.
He was about to cross-question her more when he felt someone nearing them, and he noticed Sebastian and Marcus walking toward them.
Stephano knew he couldn’t ask her anything anymore and the smile on Elliana’s face just described that she had the same thoughts.
She was surely hiding something. And he was adamant on unraveling it. Stephano smiled back at her before standing and helping her up.
