Chapter 269: When her energies react, people should stay back

Elliana stood there in shock as she noticed Marcus swinging his sword at Sebastian again and again, which he was barely dodging.

"Mr. Marino, what are you doing? Defend yourself and attack back," Elliana shouted, her hands getting sweaty as her palms itched to do something.

If it was in her hands and she didn’t have the fear of risking it all if she used her powers, she would’ve broken that hand that was using the sword against Mr. Marino long ago.

"I am trying, Princess. I am too tired right now. The game will only end until one of us is down on the ground, but there is no way I am bowing in front of anyone," Sebastian said, and Elliana bit her lower lips.

It was as she had thought. He was tired. She glared at Prince Marcus, who was attacking Mr. Marino again as if he was taking some kind of anger on him.

It was clear.

If she wanted to help Mr. Marino, there were only two options left. Either she picks a sword and defends him against Prince Marcus, which would be really tough seeing how he is overpowering even Mr. Marino. The second option was to use her magic and crush that sword and control Prince Marcus’s movements.

Both the options have their demerits and can turn everything against her. If she used a sword, Mr Marino would confirm that it was her that night, and if she used her magic, they’d be suspicious that some witch was lurking around them.

There was no other choice left.

Her gaze settled on his sword, and she was about to do something when her gaze met with Stephano who was standing at some distance.

He wasn’t just looking at her. He was observing her. Elliana blinked her eyes twice, noticing how almost everyone was observing her.

No. She can’t risk using her magic under their supervision. One wrong move and she would lose her identity, home, and -

Her gaze shifted to Mr. Marino, who looked like he was really in a tough spot, and she sighed.

If those two things weren’t going to work, only one thing was left to do.

"Mr. Marino, please fight back. I know you don’t want to bow, but at least give your best. I know my husband is very powerful. That’s why I can always freely trust my life with you. You can fight anything and everything. I know you can do it," Elliana said, and Sebastian froze in his place.

He raised his gaze, looking straight into her eyes that looked like she was looking at him with some kind of hope, the hope that he would win this battle, and his hands clenched involuntarily.

This look... he closed his eyes and rushed to the area where swords were kept and stood back in attacking mode, making Elliana nod at him softly, her eyes beaming.

Sebastian squared his jaws when he realized that this cunning princess just managed to get him to work out of his plans and drop it all just because she said a few good words. He looked at the soft smile lurking on her face and raised his sword in the air, striking Prince Marcus back.

To say Marcus was amazed with Sebastian’s new energy would be an understatement. He looked at the princess who was looking with such innocence and love toward her husband.

Is that what they call the power of support? Marcus gritted his teeth and looked at everyone else who was just looking at them, doing nothing.

"You can do it," Elliana said, and Stephano looked at his youngest brother, who was clearly annoyed about something. His brows raised.

On one side of the field was a girl who was motivating her husband like he was digging some real battle, and on the other side of the field was her husband who was annoyed with something. But there was one more side, Stephano’s gaze stopped on Vincenzo, who lit his cigarette as he looked at the girl on the side of the field.

Stephano smirked when he felt a hint of what was going on here. It looks like he is going to get some good tough competition from everything.

"She is not stupid," Stephano finally answered Santo’s question earlier when he had asked if the princess was dumb because they thought she was going to jump in the middle to help her husband.

"Hmmm?" Santo asked, confused.

"She knows exactly what she is doing. And the reason why Sebastian is so annoyed, I can’t believe it," Stephano said before he looked at Marcus, and nodded at him.

The indication was clear - Start using your vampire powers and show them what you’ve got.

Prince Marcus might have thought that he got the support of his elder brother, but what he didn’t know was that he was just a pawn for his brother to test a theory that was forming in his head.

Prince Marcus didn’t waste a second in doing what his brother allowed. Thus, as soon as Sebastian swung his sword at him, he used his vampire speed and appeared right behind him, catching Sebastian off guard as Marcus sliced his back, making Sebastian stumble forward, and Elliana’s hands clenched around her dress.

"Marcus, what are you doing? It’s just a game," Angelo was the first one to comment.

"Well, it’s not a game anymore. His wife is cheering for him like it’s some kind of battle. Won’t she feel wrong if I don’t show her that it’s actually a real battle? I mean, of course, I am not going to behead him, but there has to be some spice," Marcus said, and Elliana didn’t like how this prince was being so smug.

She looked at her Mr. Marino who was looking at Marcus with a wronged expression, and she bit her lower lips, helpless.

"Fine. Let’s do it," Sebastian said, and though he said that, he still stuck to the basic rules and regulations, and tried his best to dodge all the fast-paced attacks without attacking back using his vampire speed.

Elliana walked to the swords section, walking it slowly appearing as if she was just taking a stroll and nothing more.

She touched the swords, a small smile appearing on her face when she thought about something. She was busy with her thoughts, knowing all too well that her husband would take care of the battle when she felt the same Intuition that something wrong was about to happen, and she looked towards the battlefield.

As soon as she looked, she noticed Marcus kicking the back of Mr. Marino’s leg, making him fall on the ground as the sickening sound of a bone breaking echoed, and her eyes went wide.

She noticed Prince Marcus raising the sword in the air as he was about to kill Mr. Marino, and she gulped.

No.. there was no way...she didn’t think about any reasons anymore.

"Mr. Marino!" She shouted, not being able to control herself anymore. She rushed to Sebastian and covered his body with hers, shocking everyone in the process.

Marcus couldn’t control himself in time, Vincenzo’s eyes went wide, and he rushed to the site, followed by Stephano and Carla.

However, before Marcus’s sword could even come ten inches closer to Elliana, her powers reacted so loudly that not only an invisible shield was formed around her, but the impact of her shield and powers threw Marcus far away from her, making everyone pause as they looked at her in shock before looking at a beaten up Marcus who was bleeding from mysterious cuts on his body that appeared out of nowhere.

"No!" her voice was firm, more like a wearing promising death.

They all felt the impact, stumbling back. Her hair flailed in the air slightly, and Sebastian, who had planned all this, raised his gaze, looking straight into her eyes, his throat going dry for a second.

He was shocked by what happened and what powerful energies he was feeling around her, but that wasn’t the thing that shocked him. He looked at one emotion that he had never thought he would in her eyes for himself.

Pure affection.
