Chapter 268: A way to find the truth
"Are you okay, my love?" Artemis walked to Hera, who lay on the bed and nodded her head softly.
"It’s taking a toll on us. Should we return to the sea?" Artemis asked, looking at Marianna who was standing in the corner of the room with a tight-lipped smile.
"Don’t look at me. I told you it wasn’t the best idea in the box," Marianna walked out of the room, and Artemis looked at Hera’s pale expression.
It wasn’t easy.
She was continuously using her siren’s beauty to go into clubs and get information about all the people they had on the list while hiding her siren powers at the same time.
So far, they were able to check 30 people on the list, and none of them were associated with that witch who might be living among Vampires in some kind of disguise.
Artemis looked at the list that was pinned on the noticeboard near the bed and gritted his teeth when Hera coughed loudly.
"Enough of this. I’ll come back again next time. We need to take you to the sea back. Here, drink this. I’ll pack our stuff," Artemis stood from his side, but Hera held his hand and shook her head.
"I will be fine, Artemis. This is important for our entire group. Once we get this information and give it to Cleopatra, we will get married. We will seal the bond and mark each other’s powers," Hera murmured.
"How will you be fine, Hera? I am not blind. I can see you struggling. So, don’t give me this bullshit. We are leaving today, and that’s final -" Artemis said, and Hera pulled him down before lifting her body and hugging him from the side.
"Listen to me once, Artemis. You brought me here because you knew I would be able to pull it off. Just ask one of your vampire friends to bring some sea water for me, and I’ll be fine," Hera clasped her hand and pecked Artemis’s cheeks, making him place his hand on his face before he nodded.
Only twenty more people. Heck, the remaining ten out of them belong to the elite and royal group. Finding information about them would be the hardest.
"I can’t believe a witch would risk so much to live among vampires," Artemis said, and Hera sighed.
"Don’t you get it? The witches are conspiring against the vampires. Something big is about to happen between vampires and witches soon. If this witch isn’t here for some ulterior motives and falls in love with a vampire, we can already expect a supernatural war between the two species," Hera commented
Artemis looked out of the window.
Hera has been one of the sirens with the best premonitions after Marianna, and if she is saying something like that, things won’t turn out to be good.
The last time a witch fell for a vampire, and the vampire betrayed the Witch by using her for her powers, the gods had to come to the earth to save the entire earth from facing the wrath of the witches.
It was thousands of years ago, but the aftermath of that was still seen in some witches’ clans who wanted to destroy the vampires.
"Let’s not think about it. We need to focus on finding this witch so that we can threaten them and get information about the person who is holding our queen’s siren powers.
It has been 18 years already since the transfer happened.
The kid must’ve matured now. The powers will start showing their effects soon," Artemis said, and Marianna walked inside the room.
"We have gotten some information. There is one person I am suspicious about. There was a human who was on the ship who had come with two strong vampires guarding her. The man said that the vampire’s powers were almost equivalent to those of royals.
One girl belonged to the third royal vampire family. The council head’s son, mayor’s son, finance minister’s son, and forest minister’s son are friends of that human. It sounds suspicious to me," Marianna said.
"It’s not. I checked the information twice with the other informers. It’s all because the girl is studying at the same University as them. Also, one of the vampires is head over heels for her. I think the name is Daniel. The rest of the friends only support him and nothing more," Artemis said.
"What is the harm in checking? Even if the friendship is justified, the strong vampires are not justified -" Marianna started but Artemis sighed and shook his head.
"We don’t have so much time to waste. Hera is hanging on to thin threads, and we need to do everything to find the witch rather than uselessly suspecting -"
"It’s a good idea," Hera said, and Artemis immediately shut up, making Marianna roll her eyes.
So just because it’s his woman talking about it, he is ready to listen? Such double-faced standards. Marianna was about to walk out when Hera’s words stopped her.
"I don’t think we should approach that girl just for our suspicions though. We can befriend her and keep a better and closer look at those vampires. We might actually be able to find out about any suspicious person in the vampire kingdom which will lead us to that witch, and if that human is the problem, we would immediately know," Hera suggested, and Marianna nodded.
If they look at things this way, they will be able to find things much sooner.
"It is risky though, I just heard from one of the vampires that the royals are suspicious of our presence here. Do you think any vampires snitched us?" Marianna asked, and Artemis stood from his place.
"Well, I can’t be entirely sure. No one should be trusted completely in the enemy’s kingdom. If they snitched us, let’s go back to the sea," Artemis said.
Hera’s expression immediately changed, and Marianna looked at him, confused.
"I am not going anywhere," Hera’s voice was firm.
"It’s okay, sweetheart. I have enough strength to pick you.
You didn’t get my words. We will return to the sea in front of the Vampires so they will tell the exact thing to their royal prince. Let’s return after a couple of hours when they would be least expecting us," Artemis said before turning to Marianna.
"You know what to do. Spread the news among the circle that Hera is terribly sick and we are returning," Artemis said before he walked to the notice board and circled the name that was their target now.
Elliana H.

Meanwhile, in the royal palace, Elliana felt weird in her heart. It was as if something bad was about to happen, and she thinned her lips before walking out of the room.
"Princess, the orders are to not let you go anywhere," The maid said, and Elliana scowled.
"I am going to meet my husband. Do you dare to stop me?" Elliana said, and the maid, who knew which prince she was talking about, immediately bowed her head in fear.
Elliana walked towards the staircase to go downstairs and see what others were doing or where Sebastian had gone when she heard Prince Marcus’s raging voice.
"Do you really think you are stronger than me when it comes to sword fighting, Sebastian? Give it up. I don’t want to cut off your hand. Let’s not scare your wife," Marcus’s voice was arrogant, and Elliana rushed to the balcony, looking towards the backyard where everyone was and Marcus and Sebastian were sword fighting
It was obvious from her position that Marcus was winning. And why wouldn’t he? Mr. Marino was already so tired after the fight two nights ago and then all this stuff. When did he get the chance to relax? He hasn’t even returned to the room to sleep.
Elliana scowled, her pupils dilating when she saw Marcus swing his sword at Mr. Marino so hard that Mr. Marino’s sword broke and his hand twisted a bit.
This wasn’t good. She rushed to the staircase, descending the stairs in a hurry.
"Princess, how are you -" Carla couldn’t complete her sentence as Elliana already rushed out of the palace’s main door towards the backyard.
Carla knew what the princes were doing and she immediately became worried. Yes, everyone was trying to treat her with care, but if this human girl interfered in their sword fighting, she would get terribly hurt because when these princes play, they don’t consider each other brothers.
There were so many times when the king had to interrupt.
Elliana rushed to the sight and looked at Prince Marcus who was overpowering her Mr. Marino.
Everyone who was busy watching the game with a bored look on their faces immediately became alert when their gaze fell on Elliana who was running towards where the fight was going.
"Is this girl dumb?" Santo scoffed, and Stephano raised his brows as he looked at the girl who stopped near the field.
She looked quite concentrated on the game as if she was observing things.
Was she thinking of actually participating in it?
’Quite interesting,’ His brows quirked.
Meanwhile, Sebastian who immediately sensed her presence was about to kick Marcus away to attend to her and tell her everything was alright when he remembered the girl from two nights ago.
This was the perfect timing to test her. He thought with a smirk on his face that was hidden with his half mask.
