Chapter 256: A little bedtime story- a story of the past
"Welcome to reality, Princess Elliana," the man whispered, Elliana’s eyes wide and filled with nothing but terror.
"No matter what you say, Mr. Marino won’t spare you from touching what belongs to him," Elliana stuttered.
The man in front of her with scarlet red eyes and pearly white fangs, looked directly into her eyes as if he wanted to look into her soul before he smiled.
"Is that so, princess? Is that what your so-called Mr. Marino has been telling you?" The man smiled before he let go of her hand.
"Would you like to listen to a story? Let me tell you anyways," the man turned his back to her and Elliana looked around, hoping to find something that she could use on this man to catch him off guard and run far away from here, probably to the family members who might actually protect her.
"It’s a story of two boys, both of them almost similar in character. If one was a devil, the other one was a beast. They never got along with each other. It was tough for them to not want to dominate each other," The man walked to the chair, touching the armrest of it before he closed the door.
"Since they never got along, whenever the family used to gather for any kind of functions or celebrations, they didn’t leave a chance to humiliate each other. You see, both of them were the same, but the treatment they got was worlds apart," the man turned to her before shrugging.
"It was nepotism and partiality at its best. While one got scolded terribly, locked into the dungeons with the creepiest deadly vampire offenders, and got traumatized for his life, the other one just got a warning to never do anything like that again. Both of them killed a human, so shouldn’t they get the same punishment? But no," The man sighed.
Elliana didn’t like where this was going. This didn’t sound like just any random story. It sounded like it was close to this man somehow and the other boy he was talking about was no one other than her Mr. Marino.
Or there is no way he would start telling her a story out of nowhere.
"That boy was so traumatized that he cut off his connection with the world completely for an entire year. He became lonely and pathetic, fearing just everything around him," That man scoffed loudly as if mocking that little boy who was scared of something that meant nothing to him.
He leaned on the door with his eyes closed as he remembered the incident when everything changed completely and he turned against Sebastian.
"But even in that darkness, he found a day of hope. The ray of hope that held his hand and kept him going. He found a friend to rely on. That friend used to come and play with him in his free time, and his negativity started slipping away," the man said.
Elliana froze in her place. She knew the next part of the story. And it wasn’t because she had heard it before or read it somewhere or she was a part of it. No. It was mainly because most of such stories followed the same path.
If she wasn’t wrong, the next part of the story included Mr. Marino killing or hurting that friend.
"So the other boy killed or hurt that friend?" Elliana asked, and the man opened his eyes before looking into her soft innocent eyes that were looking back at him with fear.
"Of course, not. When that boy met with the other boy at the family function, the other boy was still alone and had no one with him.
And even in that loneliness, he looked dominating as if no one was above him. That boy didn’t like it. He flaunted his friend to that other boy, but he didn’t give much attention to him. Rather, the other boy said that his friend was stupid. And that boy was stupid to believe that anyone would come close to him without needing anything in return," the man said, and Elliana narrowed her eyes.
She didn’t know if this man was deliberately playing with her mind and messing with her or not, but one thing was for sure, she needed to get away from him.
She didn’t know and didn’t want to know what happened to that boy or other boy, and if anyone was a devil or a beast, but this grown-up man here surely needed medical attention. He was acting like a psycho.
"The other boy was right. That friend was indeed with him for his benefit. That boy didn’t like, that the other boy was able to see it. It was the same boy who killed his own friend," the man chuckled darkly.
"He stabbed that ugly heart until there was no area of his heart left unattended. Blood gushed out of his heart like sprinkling water, and he wanted to drink that blood, but unfortunately like that other boy, he couldn’t drink vampire blood. So when the other boy found them behind the palace, he didn’t hesitate to drink that blood," the man said, and Elliana shuddered involuntarily.
No matter how much she loved Mr. Marino, she still wouldn’t want to imagine him in a scenario like that, let alone see it.
"That boy hated it. He felt lonely again, and he blamed it all on the other boy. If the other boy hadn’t revealed the truth then he would’ve had a friend. That’s why that boy started plotting.
He wanted revenge. And what revenge is better than taking the most loving thing from that other boy? His mother?" The man laughed maniacally.
Elliana rubbed her hands up and down to stop the goosebumps as she kept backing away from him towards the balcony.
She was planning on jumping down. There was no other escape she could think of. She can’t use her powers and alert everyone and she can’t get past him either.
Besides, there was no way he would try to do something to her in front of so many guards and the royal family. Some of them were still there in the main hall.
"So that little boy was the one because of whom your Mr. Marino’s mother was caught. Let me tell you this secret that I didn’t tell anyone. He snitched on her. And guess who was that boy? Tada! It’s me!" That man laughed proudly before looking at the ceiling as he covered his eyes with the back of his hand, smiling evilly.
"Do you really think you would be able to leave and survive once Mr. Marino knows about this?" Elliana asked, pausing in her steps.
"Of course, not. But who will tell him? You? Do you really think anyone is going to believe you? Will he believe a human? Imagine having your mother killed by humans and a human coming to you and blaming it on your family. Who will fucking believe you?" That man smiled at her, amused, his elongated fangs pressing on his lips as he licked the tip of them.
"And let’s say they do, What do you think I have been doing for the past years? His mother died a long time ago, but it doesn’t mean my hatred for him ended overnight," That man blinked his eyes, and in a split second, he grabbed Elliana’s neck again, pushing her back against the balcony, making her widen her eyes.
"And now I am even more jealous that he got such a beautiful wife given to him on a silver platter. That devil doesn’t deserve you.
It has always been the beauty and the beast and it should stay like that," That man said before he bent ready to sink his fangs in her neck.
Elliana was about to push him away using her powers when someone knocked on the door.
"Now I can hope for you to be a good princess, can’t I? Don’t utter a word about what happened here, okay?" That man looked at her with wild eyes before licking her neck, and moaning in her ears, making her feel disgusted as she clenched her hands on her dress.
"You taste divine. I am sure kissing your sweet little intoxicating pussy would be even better. That was your mistake sweetheart. You shouldn’t get aroused in a place full of vampires with heightened senses.
I couldn’t control myself when I smelt you in the hall when Sebastian arrived and you looked at him like you wanted to undress for him. I was standing right behind you, smelling you and imagining everything. So now to should pay the price and undress for me. But later," he winked at her, making her feel even more disgusted.
The loud thunderclap in the environment resonated with what was going on inside her mind and heart.
Just like he came like a gust of wind, he left as soon as the door was knocked again.
"Princess Elliana, are you here?"
It was Vincenzo’s voice, and she placed her hand on her mouth to stop her sob from reaching his ears as she slid down the sidewall of the balcony, horrified by the incident.
