Chapter 239: Shameless parasites

To say Alcinder was amazed would be an understatement.

This vampire was practically groveling at Elliana’s feet just because she said she wouldn’t call this vampire her own. What the hell was this all about?

Was this really some kind of cult-like thing that man said? Alcinder looked at all the girls, standing like a statue.

Do these people have no dignity whatsoever? Elliana practically slapped that girl hard across the face. That slap was so hard that even he clenched his hand.

All of this just because this girl got caught by the royal vampire guards and risked Elliana’s identity?

Does this human girl have no presence of mind? Does she think that anyone would want to be in that situation themselves?

She was the one talking about humanity with that leader and what the hell she was doing now? He pressed his lips into a thin line.

"Leave my leg, Natasha," Elliana tried to jerk the girl away from her legs as politely as she could.

"I said leave my legs, Natasha!" Elliana jerked her leg away harshly, making Natasha land back.

Elliana’s heart filled with guilt as she looked into Natasha’s big wide eyes full of tears, but she just turned around, not wanting to look at the girl.

Marcello’s hands clenched in a fist. He looked at Glow, who was still looking at Elliana as if this human was their god.

He couldn’t believe it.

The girl he fell in love with was so blind that she wasn’t even able to see that this human that they worshiped was now humiliating and bullying one of their own.

He turned to look at Misha, who was the most innocent and soft one among the girls. However, when he saw that though Misha was also crying, she wasn’t making any move to walk towards Elliana and stop her, he felt something was wrong.

"Waa waaa, waaa, waaa," Natasha tried to catch Elliana’s attention again with her broken voice.

It didn’t work. Nothing was working. Natasha looked at her friends who were facing Elliana to help them communicate the message.

"Please at least hear her once," Marcello said and Elliana scoffed.

After what felt like an eternity, but was only a few seconds, Elliana finally looked down at the groveling girl before she bent and grabbed her jaws.

"Hear her? What can I hear? Can they say something?" Elliana asked.

Marcello who was trying to understand Elliana and see her point of view too, froze in his place and his eyes immediately turned cold.

She just did not respect every girl standing here, including Glow, right?

He has had enough. He took a deep calming breath and was about to speak more when Elliana continued.

"Can anyone say and give me any reason why every time they get caught or are in trouble, their first instinct is to want to kill themselves?" Elliana asked.

Thump. Marcello’s heart thumped as he looked at the girl who was weeping even louder now, and he finally understood what was that made Elliana so angry. Why the hell no one was helping this girl, or why the hell they trusted her blindly. He understood it all with such one sentence.

"I... I did so much for them. Every time they were in any kind of danger, I left anything and everything just to come and save them," Elliana took a shaky breath.

"That’s how much I love them. That’s how much I want them to live in this world and show people that they deserve to live too even when everyone thinks they are an abomination," Elliana raised her voice.

Her tears finally fell down her cheeks and wiped her eyes furiously.

Marcello immediately felt what she was talking about, and felt guilty and sad for the girl.

He felt Glow’s hand that was grabbing his tremble with each word Elliana was saying and he sighed.

"Even today, I was in the middle of something when I received that call from that leader that they got her. You have no idea how angry I was.

And I was angry at myself because I couldn’t take care of them. Because I didn’t listen to you when you said their lives were in danger," Elliana stood.

She looked at Natasha with pure anger when the girl grabbed her legs again, practically hugging them so as not to let Elliana leave.

"Just imagine that you are risking everything you have to save a person because you love them, and when you reach there, you see them trying to commit suicide," Elliana scoffed.

"And I also know that if there had been anyone else in place of Natasha, they would’ve done the same thing. That’s how much they love me. They love me so much that it’s toxic for their own lives. That’s why it’s better if I leave them," Elliana said.

All the girls stood there in shock.

As soon as Elliana talked about leaving, Glow left Marcello’s hand and fell to her knees, making Elliana look at her with a neutral face.

Everyone mimicked their direct leader and fell to their knees, their hands joined together, pleading Elliana silently.

Elliana bit the inside of her cheeks. It was becoming hard, staying angry at them and making them realize what wrong they were doing, but she knew she had to do this.

"Don’t plead to me now. It’s not going to work. Two years ago, I saved you guys from that onslaughter. I promised I would love you through thick and thin and will protect you.

You guys promised me your loyalty and that you would do anything for me.

It was a deal, and it was nice while it lasted, but I don’t think I will be able to do it anymore," Elliana said before she forcefully removed Natasha’s hand from her legs and turned around.

She took a deep breath and was about to start walking towards the exit of the forest where Alcinder had dropped her when Marcello started speaking.

"Elliana, I know she made a mistake, and she should’ve trusted you to save her, but I think you are being a bit too harsh now, " Marcello gulped. He couldn’t see his woman in pain.

"These people have started to live for you. Their days start with the hope of seeing you, hearing from you, and working with you, and end with thinking about you and how thankful they are to you. Show some mercy," Marcello said, trying to vouch for his girl who though looked strong was breaking slowly.

"Marcello, it’s exactly the reason that you mentioned I want to leave them," Elliana turned around briefly.

"They have encircled their entire life around me when I actually wanted them to live happily. This wasn’t the life I dreamt for them. I wanted to see them happy. I had promised to protect them from every evil, and if I am the person coming between their happiness, then I shall remove myself," Elliana whispered.

She started moving towards the exit of the forest and had only moved five steps when she heard Marcello’s anxious voice.

"Glow!" Marcello shouted.

Elliana turned around immediately to see what it was, her brows raising in mild shock when she saw Glow pointing a dagger at her. Elliana trusted Glow enough to not do anything to her, however, her eyes surely widened when Glow pointed that knife at her own chest.

"If you leave us, we will kill ourselves," Glow signed hastily, and Elliana’s eyes darkened.

"You will not do anything like that," Elliana’s energy started to react when they felt the mixture of pain and anger crossing the optimum level again.

"Test me," Glow signed, and Elliana sighed before she looked down at her feet.

"Are you trying to say that you guys are now like parasites who won’t leave me? No matter how many times I’ll kick you, you’ll come back to me?" Elliana asked, and Glow nodded shamelessly, her eyes full of resolution.

She looked behind Glow and looked at all the girls nodding their heads. Elliana didn’t know how to stay angry at them anymore.

"I will come back to you guys, but you have to promise me something this time. The next time you get into a problem, you call me, and won’t think of killing yourself until I am the one ordering you to. Promise me," Elliana said.

Glow nodded. She placed the finger on her chin before putting her hand on the other in a promising sign, and Elliana looked at the girls who did the same.

"You stupid bitches," Elliana sighed and extended her hand, making Glow immediately hug her.

She hugged her so tightly that Elliana felt her lungs squeezing and she patted Glow’s back.

"Girl, no matter how much you love me, I am still a human and you are a vampire," Elliana grumbled with difficulty. Glow let go of her, looking at her legs shyly with wide eyes in embarrassment, making Elliana sigh.

She looked at all the girls before she pulled Glow’s face down and kissed her forehead from behind her scarf.

"You guys are my pride. I can’t let anything happen to you," She whispered before she walked to Natasha, who was still whimpering and weeping, breaking Elliana’s heart even more.

"Fine. I forgive you. Now stand up and hug your leader," She grumbled, pretending to be mildly angry, and Marcello chuckled at her, wiping the corner of his eyes as he felt emotional too.

Alcinder, who was watching everything unfold left the forest.

Every single time. He has been wrong about her every time.

First, when he suspected her she was cunning and pretended to be oblivious about things, he was wrong, then about her innocence, and today about her monstrous thoughts and inhumanity. He has been wrong about everything.

He has never felt such deep respect for anyone ever in his life, apart from his mother. He sighed, his heart skipping a beat at the thought of her being so innocent despite how she does things.

She is really an angel in disguise. Alcinder thought before using his vampire speed to reach the car so that she didn’t suspect anything.
