Chapter 206: Slapping Mr. Marino or Tian?
"Have you lost your mind?! Don’t you know this lake has alligators on the other side that sometimes come to this side, too?!" Sebastian shouted before he pulled her back, and she looked at him with narrowed eyes.
"And? I am sure the alligators can’t climb the tree," She said, and Sebastian noticed that she was trying to reach the branch and not jump inside the lake.
Sebastian sighed and was about to ask her if she needed his help in getting on the tree when he received the intel from Miss Zoya.
The intel was about how the princess didn’t eat anything or talk to anyone, and that she was distressed about something because Miss Zoya heard her crying voices from out of the room before she ran outside towards the forests.
Sebastian, who was thinking of going to the eastern regions to check the security, sighed and sat on the large rock, mimicking her position.
"Will you tell me what is worrying you now? Is it something about what Sebastian did?" Sebastian asked, referring to how she was angry with him in the morning because of what happened on that island.
He looked at her observantly, waiting for her answer, and now that he was sitting close to her, he could see the strange marks on her skin. It looked like she had rubbed her hand with something harsh.
Something was definitely wrong. And it surely happened after he left the University.
Elliana looked at the man beside her, unsure of his intentions.
"And for some reason, you think I’ll tell you everything because? You are Mr. Marino’s friend. Do you take me as a tool," Elliana asked.
"I won’t tell him. I have said this before too. He might be my friend, but we have our differences, and when I say I won’t tell him anything, I will keep my word," Tian looked at her with the utmost genuine expression he could muster.
Elliana looked into his eyes, and for a moment, she felt like she was looking into Mr. Marino’s eyes, strangely conflicted with her emotions even more.
"Well, it’s....it’s about something I saw...or should I say, someone I met," Elliana started her story and said everything she wanted to, hiding why she went so deep inside the forest.
There’s no way she would tell anyone about her powers and become an easy target for everyone.
Maybe she needed to tell someone everything that happened, and thus, when Tian showed her this much concern, she couldn’t stop herself from sharing.
Starting from how she went deeper inside that forest to see how long that forest was and enjoy some peace to how she met that man with amber eyes and how they held her and threatened to shred her to pieces if she ever set foot in that part of the forest, she told everything to the guy she knew as Mr Marino’s friend.
"I still don’t understand why you would want to hide this from your husband. Is it because you think he will get angry with why you went into the forest? I think we all know by now how much you love getting into trouble," Sebastian said, and Elliana looked down at her feet, drawing circles on the stone from her toe.
"It’s because of what they said to me," She whispered.
"They just denied you access there. Maybe if you tell your husband about it, he might look into the details as to why a group of vampires is illegally taking over a piece of land and claiming it as theirs. He might also -"
"It’s because I don’t want him to go there," Elliana said, and sensing the fear in her words, Sebastian narrowed his eyes. It was definitely not a matter of joke if she was this serious, not once smiling.
He wanted to hold her hand and ask her what it was all about, but he knew one more time he held her hand, not only would she run away, but he would also lose the opportunity to know the full context of what exactly happened there.
"And what would that be? Do you not trust your husband? That he would be able to deal with a group of vampires?" Sebastian asked, softening his eyes.
"No. It’s because I know he is very temperamental. Those guys, they said they eat vampires and drink vampire blood, not human blood. What if Mr. Marino gets angry and attacks them and hurts them? What if those groups of people overpower Mr. Marino and everyone and drink their blood? I don’t want it. I don’t want anyone to hurt Mr. Marino or his team," Elliana looked at Tian, who paused in his actions and thoughts.
What did the princess say? The group she met said they only drank vampire blood. That they hate human blood? Does that mean the group of rogue vampires they have been looking for for so many days and working day in and out was actually hidden in that forest near the university that they least expected? Sebastian looked at his girl, who was shivering in fear and disgust.
"I hated it, Mr. Tian. I hated their touch, the way they looked at me, held my hand, whispered into my ears, sniffed my neck, and held my hair, I just have everything," A tear rolled down Elliana’s eyes.
"But do you know what I hate more? I hate that those guys insulted my Mr. Marino by trying to impersonate him. Everyone knows that Mr. Marino is the only person who suffers from this special ability. How can they say such things to my face?" Elliana asked, and Sebastian sighed.
’Lucas, Harry, Garry, Ambrose, Sean, George, and Joseph. I want you guys to drop all the things you are doing right now. Prepare a team of the best fighters. We need to go to the forest area behind the university. It looks like your Princess found out the rogue vampires we have been looking for. Wait for me. I am coming as soon as I get her back to the palace,’ Sebastian contacted his subordinates through the mind link.
There is no way he is letting go of this opportunity to capture this specially created and nurtured group of species, which is reared by the royals themselves. He was yet to find out if his grandpa knew that one of his brothers was conspiring against him or not.
"Stop crying, girl," Sebastian said, finding it hard to call her anything other than ’Princess’ that he was used to.
"I am not crying. I am just frustrated and disgusted. That’s it," Elliana said.
"Here, look at me. I think you should stop thinking about them. I know you don’t want to worry your prince, but you can trust him, right? No one will harm him as long as I am alive, okay?" Sebastian cupped her cheeks, forcing her to look into his eyes.
Seeing her glassy eyes and her moist lips, Sebastian gulped, his heart skipping a beat, and he leaned forward, wanting to kiss her when she was fully aware of what he looked like for the first time. He looked into her eyes, their lips only a couple of inches away.
’Pat!’
The sound of the loud slap resonated in the air, leaving him shocked as he looked at the princess, who was already standing and leaving.
"I can’t believe you call yourself Mr Marino’s friend while trying to take advantage of his wife," Elliana spat before she walked away.
Sebastian froze in his position for quite some time. He didn’t know if he should be angry that this was the first time someone dared to slap him across the face, or if he should be happy to see how loyal his wife was that even when she could recognise his eyes partially, she still didn’t take any chances.
No. Right now wasn’t the time to think about this. He needs to rush to the place before those vampires can think of running away. Sebastian thought before rushing towards the backside of the palace, where he was sure his team must be waiting for him.
