Chapter 197: A half done magic
Elliana lay on the rooftop bench facing the sky as she looked at the clear sky.
It was serene and beautiful. It was peaceful. There was no doubt about it. But she didn’t like it. Why was the sky peaceful when her heart was such a mess?
She wanted to make it rage just like her heart. Everything was taking a toll on her. These confused signals Mr. Marino was giving her, the projects she wants to work on, and let’s not start on how her search for her mother was long forgotten.
"Nathaniel," she whispered, wanting to talk to her friend.
Nathaniel, who heard her voice crystal clear in his office looked at the globe and clicked on it to see what she was doing.
Seeing her lying on the bench lazily, he rolled his eyes before clicking on the globe again to remove the scene.
He went back to reading his book, and Prakrith, who was sitting right in front of him, looked at him with raised brows.
"She is calling you. Are you not going?" She asked, and Nathaniel hummed in denial.
"Well, I thought you loved her or something. Why are you leaving such a good opportunity? Didn’t you say you want to make some space for yourself in her heart? Are you going to do that by not answering her calls?" Prakrith asked, and Nathaniel rolled his eyes at her words.
"I want to have some space in her heart, in fact, I want to have all the space in her heart, but for that, I am not going to give in to her demands all the time," Nathaniel murmured.
"Demands?" Prakrith asked, confused.
"Hmm. Apparently, she had started to believe that the chakra thing Yaretzi and her witch had been telling her is all bullshit and that she had witch powers like the rest of us.
And even if she has those chakra powers, they are very powerful," Nathaniel closed his book before chanting that spell he was reading.
As he had guessed, it didn’t work.
"So what is her demand in all this?" Prakrith looked at him, confused.
"She wants me to teach her how to teleport from one place to another without being caught. This is just a level 4 spell, and it takes three levels to master it. It’s not a big deal. But to top that, she wants to learn how to hide her identity and scent," Nathaniel said, and Prakrith raised her brows.
"A level nine spell?" She asked, and Nathaniel hummed.
"Who the hell is teaching and informing her about all these things and spells?" She asked.
"No one. Her powers are itching to come to us, and probably they are making her feel more powerful which is putting her under the delusion that she can do anything and everything easily," Nathaniel sighed.
"But that’s not her delusion though. She is indeed that powerful. Don’t you think it’s better to teach her the teleporting spell rather than risking her doing it on her own?
You and I both know how she loves nature, and how the environment is calling out to her. I can feel it in my bones," Prakrith said.
"It won’t happen. Don’t worry. Her powers won’t react like that. We won’t let her get into that kind of trouble where her powers will have to act themselves to protect her," Nathaniel looked at Prakrith, a clear warning in his eyes.
He knows that Prakrith controls the environment, and she would be the easiest for Elliana to persuade if she found out about her.
"She is not learning this spell or any spell as a matter of fact until she leaves that damned kingdom. I’ll teach her everything when she will be with me, but nothing before that," Nathaniel said, and Prakrith thinned her lips.
"You do know that you can’t control nature, Nathaniel. Yes, I am the leader of it and try my best to keep it in control, but if mother nature calls out to her, there isn’t anything you can do about it," Prakrith commented before walking to the window.
"By the way, have you noticed?" She asked, changing the topic.
"Noticed what?" Nathaniel asked.
"Don’t get me wrong. I was merely intrigued by what she was doing when she was asleep because I wanted to be the one keeping a close eye on her as she always comes to the forests whenever she wants to relax. She is having dreams of the energy circles again," Prakrith said.
Nathaniel, who created a circular design in the middle of his office to perform the spell again and try it, paused suddenly when he heard her.
"Come again, what did you do? You said you wanted to see what she was doing while she was asleep. Who asked you to enter her mind and see what she was dreaming about? Who permitted you?" He asked.
"It wasn’t my intention. I saw her wriggling in her dream and that leech prince was nowhere in sight that’s why I entered her brain. But that’s not the point. The point is those dreams. You know what it means, right?" Prakrith asked, and Nathaniel clenched his fists.
"Did you tell this to anyone other than me?" He asked, and she shook her head.
"I know this is a sensitive subject to you. That’s why I never told anyone about it. But you ought to be careful.
The dark witches have been catching up to us these days, and you very well know that no matter how much you stay with the light world witches, at the end of the day, you are a mixed witch," Prakrith said, and Nathaniel glared at her.
"You don’t need to remind me of that," he gritted through his teeth, his eyes turning that rare shade of galaxy-dark blue, making Prakrith sigh.
"I am not reminding you of your mixed breed, Nathaniel. But I am surely reminding you that if you don’t want the dark witches to catch up with her and interfere in her life which I am sure you know will turn into a disaster, you got to do something and quickly," Prakrith said, and Nathaniel squared his jaws in annoyance.
He was about to ask her to hire a different witch to keep a constant gaze on Elliana and protect her from the dark witches’ radar when they heard Elliana’s voice again.
"Nathaniel, if you don’t come here and talk to me, I’ll make it rain," Elliana threatened, not liking how he was not arriving.
Nathaniel looked at Prakrith, who stood there with her lips pressed into a thin line.
"She is becoming quite wishful for sure," Prakrith agreed.
Meanwhile, Elliana who was smiling at the clear sky earlier, narrowed her eyes and pointed her fingers at it before opening her palm in the direction.
"I am angry that Nathaniel won’t come and teach me the trick. Or that he won’t at least hear me rant like he promised he would. I got into trouble today because of that," Elliana said, closing her eyes as she focussed her energies in the middle of her palm as Yaretzi taught her.
She smirked when she felt the energies coursing through her hand, and she was about to release it towards the sky to make it thunder and rain when she heard someone coming.
"Elliana, are you here?" She heard Daniel’s voice, and in her nervousness, she brought her hand down, doing the magic half.
She thought if she brought her hand down the magic wouldn’t happen, but she forgot the first rule that Yaretzi told her about.
If she does half magic, rather than pointing her hand anywhere, up, down, or side, she needs to point the hand towards herself because her magic would never harm her.
Thus, when she brought her hand down, the magic escaped her hand, and rather than toward the sky, it went straight to the forest, making her widen her eyes when she saw what she did.
