Chapter 169: Whispers of the forbidden love

Everyone left after treating her and ensuring she was fine and didn’t need anyone’s help anymore.

Since the ship wasn’t sailing for another hour or two, they asked her to rest, and Elliana didn’t rebuke. She also thought that resting was a better option.

As lovely as she felt while dancing with Nathaniel, it turned out to be quite more painful than she had thought. Nathaniel could heal her wounds, but rather he chose to keep her in pain so that she could stay distracted from her heartbreak.

’What a prick! Does he really think I am the kind of girl who will keep crying for something that isn’t in her hands? I knew the truth before it happened. It just caught me by surprise. My heart isn’t aching that much, but my knees surely are,’ Elliana moaned in pain before taking a deep breath.

She looked at her phone, which was vibrating on the nightstand, and picked it up.

"Hello?"

"I am there. At the door," Marcello said, and Elliana smirked.

Everything was working as she wanted.

"Before telling you the passcode, let me warn you. That elderly couple you are knocking at the door of are actually well-trained wolves," Elliana said.

Marcello, who was having weird thoughts, and had been sensing something was wrong from the moment he entered this village-like thing, gulped.

He stepped back from the lone house and turned around.

A few pairs of hazel animalistic eyes looked back at him as if waiting for him to make one wrong move.

Even though he was a Duke that handled the black market, he would be severely injured in front of so many well-trained wolves.

Grrrrr... The wolves let out a low rumble, and Marcello closed his eyes in annoyance.

"And for some reason, you think this is the best time to tell me about it? When I am surrounded by them?" Marcello groaned.

He swears this is the only girl who has alone made his life so difficult in the last two years.

When she is active, she makes dealing problematic, and when she is not active like when she went MIA, it’s even more problematic because they don’t have enough supply material.

"Well, I didn’t really know you’ll take my words seriously and actually go there. Don’t you think you are trusting me a bit too much?" Elliana mused.

Marcello - "..." He takes back all the thankful words he said earlier.

Was he in danger now?

"Okay fine. I am just kidding. Didn’t you realize you were entering the Moon City region when you drove your car there? How oblivious can you act?

Though it’s dangerous for you, that’s the last place the royal or any kind of vampire will come to look for you. They won’t want to start a new war. And these wolves won’t hurt you. I will ensure it," Elliana groaned, making Marcello narrow his eyes.

"Are you okay? You sound like you are in pain. Who whipped your a*s?" Marcello said, and Elliana adjusted herself to sit properly before smirking.

"You should care about your a*s right now. Or do you want me to tell my wolves to have a bite of it? I mean, I did notice you have a nice booty. You won’t mind if they take a bite, will you?" Elliana chuckled slowly.

"You!" Marcello lowered his voice when the wolves snarled at him.

No. He can’t shout at her like this. He definitely doesn’t want these dogs to have a taste of his nice booty. Marcello shook his head. ’Jeez, what the hell am I thinking? This girl always ruins my speech,’ he thought.

"Knock on the door and tell them Glory wants to talk to them," Elliana said.

"Now who the hell is this Glory? I don’t think these wolves will let me go anywhere else without attacking," Marcello said, a hint of edginess in his voice.

"I am Glory. Have you forgotten? Look, there is a time limit. They only wait for ten minutes before attacking the person if that person doesn’t get a green signal from me. You have wasted 7 minutes already," Elliana said, and Marcello gasped before banging on the door like a crazy person as he looked into the eyes of the hungry wolves.

"Why the hell do you always mention the information at the last?" Marcello groaned, looking at the elder woman with urgency.

"Talk to Glory," Marcello didn’t wait for the woman to say anything and just handed the phone to the lady, making her narrow her eyes.

"Is that you, b*tch?" The woman asked.

Elliana -"..." Of course, what else could she expect?

"Glory here," Elliana took a deep breath.

"The hell you want?" The elderly woman said, and Marcello looked at her awkwardly.

Elliana said that she knew these people. But the way the elderly woman was talking to her, it didn’t look too promising.

"$5000 for keeping this man here with you safe and sound. The Passcode- Whispers of forbidden love," Elliana went straight to the point, and the woman smiled.

"My child, it’s indeed you. How long has it been since we last talked?" The lady immediately went all smiles, and she waved her hand to her wolves who nodded and left the pavement.

Marcello -"..." What was this? Multiple personality disorder?

"I am going fine. If I like your work, I will send more money. I hope I don’t hear of any problems from your end. This man is really important to me. No mistakes will be tolerated. If he as much as got a scratch under your protection, it will be my knife and your throat," Elliana threatened, and the lady smiled.

"I can see you are still full of zeal. Nothing will happen to him. Also, your plants are growing beautifully in the field. When will you visit us?" The woman asked, and Elliana sighed, going back to her polite nature.

"It’s hard, Aunty. I am trying my best, but things are not working in my favor. I will have more tasks for you in the future," Elliana said before talking to Marcello.

"Stay there until things calm down. I’ll find a way for you to handle things from there. I have a gift for you, for loyally working this year I wasn’t here. It will reach you by tomorrow," Elliana said, and Marcello narrowed his eyes.

"I hope it’s nothing related to my throat and your knife," he joked.

"If you touch it too much, it will," Elliana threatened before ending the call.

Marcello sighed at the weird girl before taking a deep breath. Her character was really unpredictable, and so were the people around her. It’s like birds of a feather flock together. He thought before pausing.

Wait. This is a line house in the middle of some flower field. Elliana said these were well-trained wolves, and he saw quite a good number outside too. Does that mean they are - Marcello widened his eyes.

This girl!!!

Meanwhile, Elliana thought about how she would arrange things for the experiment for some time before sighing. She will think of it later. She was about to lay down when she felt it.

Someone was near the window.

Was someone spying on her? But who could it be? Since she felt this thing only now, the person mustn’t have heard her conversation.

She stood from her place with grey difficulty, trying her best to not moan in pain.

She walked to the window softly, and with a jerk, she pulled the curtains to the side.

"What the -" she paused when she realized who it was.

"Mr. Marino?" She looked at the man, confused, who was looking back at her with his pupils dilated as if he was caught in the act.

"What are you going here?" she asked.

"I... I am just taking a walk," he said and Elliana could read the lie clearly written in his eyes.
