The Last King Of Darkness -
Chapter 698 - 403 Wishes_2
Chapter 698: Chapter 403 Wishes_2
Lily briefly explained the situation.
Hall’s face darkened as he said, "It must have been cast during the battle with the Soul Thirsting Demon."
Misole looked very disheartened. "I’m really useless..."
Rod said solemnly, "Ladies and gentlemen, we can no longer afford to waste time here. I highly suspect that all the Desire Demons in this underground complex have been alerted. We must find the main hall as quickly as possible."
Misole asked softly, "What if we encounter a Soul Devouring Worm again?"
Lily said, "Use spiritual energy to protect your body and keep your spiritual energy active at all times, just like a monster."
Rod nodded, "I also have the Goddess’ Tears, which can dispel it in case it happens again. Let’s go."
But before leaving, he specifically looked at Lily.
"Lady Lily, may I see the hand gesture you use for praying?"
Lily clasped her fists to her chest and smiled, saying, "Lord Theodore is an avatar of fire. I only pray to him with the ritual of fire. When he returns from the stars, he will be pleased to see mine."
Only then did Rod feel relieved, confirming the illusion he had seen earlier.
As for that strange prophecy, it probably had no meaning.
Perhaps Hall’s words made sense, there was no need to complicate simple matters. If the intuition was right, just bulldoze through.
Moments later, Rod pushed open a smaller Sealing Gate and a narrow tunnel appeared.
After checking the direction, he led everyone into the tunnel, cautiously moving forward.
As expected, there were Soul Devouring Worms in the tunnel. With intense focus, Rod could now see their translucent figures floating in the air, harmless like mayflies.
But if they penetrated the soul, they would turn black, causing their host to hallucinate and ultimately go mad and die.
Rod was very careful, killing every worm he saw. He didn’t have many of the Goddess’ Tears left.
A short while later, they reached the end of the tunnel, and suddenly the space ahead expanded into a vast hall.
The hall was at least a hundred yards high and several thousand yards wide, already in ruins, with brown sludge spread across the floor and a massive Soul Thirsting Demon wandering below.
And they were about the height of three floors.
Misole exclaimed in surprise, "I feel a stronger curse and Sealing aura. We’re very close to the main hall now."
Lily’s expression, however, became very grave.
"This is an adult Soul Thirsting Demon; it’s extremely powerful."
Rod asked, "Can’t the Chaos Fire burn it to death?"
Lily replied, "Of course it can. Chaos Fire never extinguishes, even gods would burn to death if touched by it, but that might take thousands or even tens of thousands of years. This Soul Thirsting Demon has reached its final state. It would take about one-fifth of a quarter-hour to burn it to death, but without Jon here, you may not hold out."
"Please don’t worry."
With only those words, Hall leaped down, opened the Seal of the Sky, and isolated the space.
The Soul Thirsting Demon crashed into the sealed space, only to be entangled by the Chaos Fire immediately. It started to struggle wildly, its powerful spiritual energy flickering, accompanied by a sharp sound like glass breaking; the demon actually broke the seal and charged out.
It spotted Hall immediately, opened its huge mouth, and its black tongue struck like a flash of lightning.
Rod leapt in front of it; the tongue instantly breached his spiritual defense but slid off his body upon impact.
"Soul Defense": It blocked a blow that should have been fatal.
"Good!"
Hall instantly reinforced the seal.
Meanwhile, Rod completed his Spiritualization, focusing entirely on defense.
The next moment, the Soul Thirsting Demon swiftly turned around, its enormous tail sweeping like thunder, unstoppable even by the Seal of the Sky.
Rod didn’t manage to dodge in time. With Hall right behind him, he had no choice but to face it head-on, but even the mere force of the wind from the tail before it hit shattered his spiritual defense.
Rod used "Soul Defense" for the second time to block the attack.
Seeing the dire situation, Lily operated her spiritual energy at full force, accelerating the Chaos Fire to burn its soul.
The Soul Thirsting Demon forgot about attacking and began moving frantically, trying to extinguish the fire, but to no avail.
In just a moment, it was reduced to ashes.
"It’s safe now."
Lily jumped down, showing signs of exhaustion for the first time.
But Rod could not afford to care about that. A very unsettling feeling surrounded him, and he just wanted to finish the mission immediately.
However, their battle with the Soul Thirsting Demon had been too long. This monster was extremely bizarre; it spread its craving for souls like a plague that even the Silence Bell could not stop.
The demon had just died when another Soul Thirsting Demon arrived. Luckily, it wasn’t in its Complete Form. The Seal of the Sky blocked its path, and Lily took only three seconds to burn it to ashes.
But the disturbance they caused was already significant enough.
More Soul Thirsting Demons crawled out from the corridors, and the hall was swarmed from all sides by hundreds of tongues and tails, their rotting flesh overlapping.
A chill went down Rod’s spine, and Misole cried out in despair, "We’re finished!"
"No."
Lily firmly said, her figure slightly floating, as Chaos Fire emerged from the Void, falling onto her, her immense Spiritual Energy shining, gathering more Chaos Fire through her Soul Trait.
The Soul Thirsting Demons rushed forward like a tide, and the Chaos Fire met them like a rain of fire.
The sky was filled with flames that blocked out the dark blackness, no matter their size, all whirling and moaning fatally in the flames, quickly turning to ash.
Lily’s flames seemed endless. Rod had never seen such powerful strength until every monster was buried, and thick ash almost covered the hall; then she descended from mid-air.
At a glance, Rod saw that Lily’s soul had significantly darkened. The backlash from killing the monsters had caused irreversible pollution to her Soul Body.
Her Spiritual Energy was extremely weak, and Spiritual Defense had long vanished. Four Soul Devouring Worms were embedded in her soul, their black tentacles swimming merrily in the air.
Rod hurried over, wanting to place the Goddess’ Tears into her mouth, but Lily refused.
"No."
She said, her tone the same as before, but with an indescribable pride and joy.
"I have overdrawn the Chaos Fire. This Trait has a huge backlash; it allows only a certain amount of Chaos Fire to be used within a certain period, or else the soul will disintegrate, turning to dust, and I have far exceeded this limit. The pollution and the Soul Devouring Worms are now supporting me instead; if they are purified, I will rapidly disintegrate, turning to ash."
Rod was silent for a few seconds and calmly asked, "Is there any hope? What can I do?"
Lily lifted her eyes and looked toward Rod, but her focus seemed to pass beyond him, as if seeing something in the Void.
"Don’t worry."
She smiled gently.
"Theodore will protect me. I feel like I can sense that star. He is smiling at me, praising me for doing well."
Lily’s gaze became incredibly gentle.
"This is wonderful, I can see Lord Theodore’s smile again. He is guiding me."
The air vibrated, the ground shook. Rod looked up in shock and saw an even larger Soul Thirsting Demon.
It rapidly crawled from the top of the hall, like a huge mass of terrifying dark clouds.
Hall shouted, "The Ultimate Body! This is the Ultimate Body! It is infinitely close to King Level, it wants to take the place of the Soul Devouring King..."
Boom!
A pillar of Chaos Fire struck its face, sparks of chaos flying all around, landing on it.
Lily’s body blazed with light, her aura of destruction immense, but her expression was exceedingly gentle as she spread her arms and murmured, "More, I need more."
Rod saw more transparent creatures in the air flying towards her, embedding into her soul, rapidly turning black, the tentacles eagerly swimming in the air, trying to burrow deeper.
Lily was trembling, frightened, but she spread her hands wider.
"Lord Theodore will protect me!"
"Come, become part of my soul, I must destroy this monster, Lord Theodore will praise me."
In just a moment, Lily’s soul was completely unrecognizable, teeming with Soul Devouring Worms wriggling, but her face now bore a blissful smile.
"Ah, I see him, it’s Lord Theodore."
"He is walking toward me."
"Hehe."
The Chaos Fire extinguished, and Lily’s soul, along with hundreds of Soul Devouring Worms, turned to ash, and her body dissipated along with it.
Above the hall, a large mass of black ash scattered in the air.
The hall was eerily silent.
