Lily was a Guardian, a powerful First Level Combatant, but she had apparently been infected and corrupted by that unknown prayer.

Jon had already left, and only three Second Level Combatants remained at the scene.

Rod knew the situation couldn’t get any worse, but he still suppressed the fear in his heart and calmly said, "It’s nothing, I was just checking if the prayer was effective."

Lily’s smile turned grim, and her decaying flesh twitched on her face.

"Of course it’s effective, how could you doubt the greatness of Lord Theodore?"

Rod calmly replied, "Of course not."

He glanced sideways, subtly signaling Misole and Hall with his eyes.

However, those two didn’t look at Lily but instead stared at him, pressing closer with suspicion in their eyes.

Hall even had half of the Seal of the Sky formed in his hand.

"Rod, something’s very wrong with you."

"Snap out of it, you’re the new star of miracles, a hero to humanity."

"You’ve broken through so many Sealing Gates, your soul must have been heavily polluted, you can’t hold on much longer, can you?"

"Don’t worry, you’ve done your best, the Royal City won’t give up on you."

A sense of dread hit Rod’s heart, not understanding why these two couldn’t see the abnormality that was so close at hand, but instead grew suspicious of him.

Lily chuckled lightly, "Don’t be afraid, little Rod, Lord Theodore will bless you, you are his favorite student, even more favored than me..."

Powerful Spiritual Energy rose in front of him, chaotic flames twirling and burning, her voice turning ferocious.

"Hahahaha, how could I let you get hurt?"

Rod stepped back, but he hit a seal in the space behind him, as if there was an invisible wall of air preventing him from retreating.

This is bad!

Lethal flames flew towards him, and he had nowhere to hide, but at this critical moment, Rod suddenly realized something, a possibility.

At the thought, his soul immediately soared, passing through the endless void and arriving in the Dream Realm.

When he opened his eyes, he saw drifting mists, the towering Obelisk, buildings scattered but arranged in specific orientations, the tranquil night sky, the five stars that twinkled in the night, and the Book of Knowledge, fully engrossed in repairing an automaton.

All of these familiar sights swiftly dissolved the fear in Rod’s heart.

The next second, a large cluster of black shadows burst forth from his body, revealing itself in the Dream Realm like an insect tossed into boiling water, and quickly extinguishing with a howl.

Rod’s heart jolted; he had indeed been parasitized by something.

No wonder something had felt wrong, the situation changed too rapidly and bizarrely, everything seemed to reveal a ferocious face in an instant, feeling extraordinarily discordant.

The Book of Knowledge raised its cover in surprise, "Master, what’s wrong? What is this?"

"We’ve been parasitized, experiencing some kind of psychic illusion."

Rod briefly recounted what happened, then left the Dream Realm and returned to the Material World.

As expected, when he opened his eyes, the sight had changed; Hall was fighting fiercely with Misole, while Lily held her fists to her chest in prayer, chanting under her breath.

Rod activated the Eye of the Soul and saw their souls shadowed by black tendrils, clearly having been parasitized by the Soul Devouring Worm.

"What should we do?" Rod asked himself.

The Book of Knowledge swiftly replied, "Use the Goddess’ Tears."

Rod’s heart sank; there weren’t many Goddess’ Tears left, thankfully he had collected quite a few Starlight Fragments during the last Star Flash, which allowed him to make some more.

It seemed fitting to use them now.

He quickly took out three Goddess’ Tears and fed one to Lily.

The Goddess’ Tears turned into a silver light, merging into Lily’s soul. The black tendrils began to thrash violently, but were quickly expelled from the soul.

They had sharp heads and dozens of barbed claws, flailing wildly in the air.

Rod summoned his Spiritual Energy and struck it with a punch, shattering the Spiritual Body, which quickly evaporated to dust in the air.

Lily also came to her senses at that moment.

The instant she opened her eyes, she understood what had happened.

"We were parasitized by an Evil Spirit, weren’t we?"

Rod replied gravely, "Yes, by something called the Soul Devouring Worm."

Lily trembled slightly, looking very afraid, "I’m terrified of these things, how did you restore us?"

"Goddess’ Tears."

Rod opened his palm.

"My special creation, Lady Lily, they are still fighting, make them stop quickly."

Lily nodded lightly, her Spiritual Light flaring.

Without any visible action from her, the two were frozen in midair.

"Alright, hurry and restore them," she said, her tone slightly anxious, seemingly disliking the sight of souls parasitized by worms.

Rod could see that Lily hadn’t used any special Characteristics; she had simply wrapped them in materialized Spiritual Energy and instantaneously transformed it into Stagnation, like fitting them with iron molds, immobilizing them instantly.

Is this the strength of a First Level Combatant?

Could she deal with the situation so straightforwardly?

Rod marveled inwardly, yet his hands were steady and without hesitation, he fed them the Goddess’ Tears.

The two finally came to their senses, and Rod casually annihilated the Soul Devouring Worms; these small creatures were not very powerful, but they were extremely dangerous.
