Chapter 699: Chapter 404 We Won

But within a few seconds, the voice in his mind shattered the silence.

The Book of Knowledge said, "Master, collect her ashes."

Rod did not ask why but silently filled a bag with her ashes.

The two teammates watched him silently without speaking.

Lily was the most unique First Level Combatant they had ever seen: she looked like a well-protected young girl, a flower in a greenhouse.

Yet she was so powerful, so experienced, so resolute that she destroyed her own life without a moment’s hesitation.

Rod felt the obsession in her soul and found her death even harder to accept.

The fall of a First Level Combatant was a significant loss to all of humanity, and the future of Trolian dimmed a bit; most importantly, their team now only had three Second Level Combatants left. Could they continue in this incredibly dangerous and eerie complex of underground buildings?

The Book of Knowledge continued, "Master, this Fire Holder had considerable potential; her characteristics were quite unique, the most destructive kind, which could become a statue in the Dream Realm."

Rod was startled, "What did you say?"

The Book of Knowledge wrote quickly, "I have already sensed information from the Dream Fragments in the Light Country. Apart from a part of my soul, there is also a critical Dream Realm building, the ’Dream Factory’. The Nightmare Fuel, Nightmare Fuel, and Nightmare Gems we obtained can be processed in the factory. With her ashes, a statue of her can be created amidst the Eternal Statues, and then we will have a powerful Guardian Spirit."

"Eternal Statues? Guardian Spirits?"

Rod immediately remembered Theodore’s statue.

"You mean, we can activate it? Lily will be resurrected?"

The Book of Knowledge explained, "The Eternal Statues themselves are meant to preserve the traces left by powerful warriors, to re-enact their power in the form of spirits and protect the Dream Realm."

Rod understood the meaning of the Book of Knowledge in an instant, "How do we activate the statue?"

"The Flower of Humanity, and a large amount of spirituality."

"Then why can’t Theodore’s statue be activated?"

"That is a product outside of the rules; that great warrior bypassed the rules of the Dream Realm in a strange way, forcibly leaving his imprint in the Eternal Statues. His statue is not restricted by the Dream Realm and can only operate in its own way."

Rod was somewhat disappointed, but his hope rose even more. He placed the bag of ashes into the storage in the Dream Realm, where the nearly solidified time would keep it forever fresh without deterioration or spoilage.

The Book of Knowledge wrote, "Excellent, master, we will soon have a Guardian Spirit. I did not notice any loss of Divinity, which proves that in her death, you did not have any faults or deficiencies. At least this operation won’t result in a loss."

Rod’s face darkened and he turned to leave the Dream Realm.

The Book of Knowledge sensed something and wrote, "Master, do you think I’m too cold?"

Rod did not answer.

The Book of Knowledge continued, "Master, I understand your feelings, but in my shattered soul, I have experienced too many similar events: the deaths of companions, the fall of kings, the destruction of kingdoms, the end of civilizations. Over these thousands of years, I have witnessed too much: the passion, kinship, friendship, love, and all those things thought to be sacred and eternal disintegrating under the erosion of the Black Fog. I have learned from countless failures that emotions are just fleeting illusions; only Divinity is the path to the ultimate light."

The Book of Knowledge paused for a moment before writing again.

"And the failure of this mission is nothing but a spray of water splashing on the long road ahead of you. You have the Resurrection Stone; you will not fall from this. The revival of the Soul Devouring King is merely a temporary pain brought to humanity. I have seen the future in the square of stars; the humans of Trolian will not be destroyed because of this. The Royal City has more cards up its sleeve than you think. This failure is just a stepping stone for your future rise."

"And the safety and survival of the Dream Realm is our everything, the entirety of humanity. I only care about this."

Rod was silent for a few seconds, then replied lightly, "Book, I don’t think this mission will fail, nor do I agree with assessing everything based on gains and losses."

The Book of Knowledge said, "Master, this mission has already failed; the Star Building group upholds an older Sealing Array. The hall you are in is called the Guard Hall within the building group; it connects with all other halls, gathering the power of the array to protect the main hall."

"You have eliminated all the hungering demons outside, but the monsters in the main hall have not been eradicated; without a First Level Combatant, you can no longer advance. I suggest you run away, so as not to waste the Resurrection Stone, our Divinity is not much left."

Rod did not respond but instead turned to Hall and Misole and said, "We are going on; the main hall is just ahead."

The Book of Knowledge wrote gloomily, "Master, they won’t go; this is a death sentence, and no one wants to die."

Rod turned and moved toward the central building of the hall, with Hall and Misole following silently.

During this, Misole dispelled the curse of the Soul Devouring King once more.

The Book of Knowledge wrote anxiously, "Master, if you make any mistakes later, it will reduce the Divinity we will obtain in the future."
