Chapter 59: Chapter 48: I Can Still Save It

"Are you all idiots? Why do you love eating shit so much?"

Rod found it incomprehensible. He had thrown out three Thunder Stones, why still wouldn’t they believe him?

Is the appearance of a genius so rare?

"Let’s compromise. You let me go, I report you, and afterwards we each rely on our own abilities. Isn’t that a good deal?"

"Why won’t you listen to advice?"

Rod wanted to say more, but her pace was too quick, he could only throw out the fourth Thunder Stone.

"What? You..."

The Black Priest was extremely shocked, she didn’t even have time to dodge, and the Thunder Stone exploded right on her face.

This was a Thunder Stone with two-thirds of its energy, a massive streak of electricity swept forth, penetrating her protective dense mist and the explosion covered an area of over twenty meters.

The Black Priest was blasted away and fell to the ground.

This time Rod was in a better state, he stepped back preemptively, only grazed by a lateral spark of electricity.

Though his body was slightly paralyzed, his movements were not significantly affected. "Spiritual Recovery" continued to work, his soul felt as if immersed in a cool spring, and his depleted Spiritual Energy quickly replenished.

Opportunity!

Rod immediately reached into the gray bag, but his heart sank upon feeling inside.

The Thunder Stones were gone.

The Guardian had initially given him ten Thunder Stones. He had thrown six before, and now with these four, all were expended.

Rod looked up, the Black Priest was not dead yet. The dense fog around her was much thinner, but it still existed.

Under the dense mist, she was as naked as the Spiritual Energy instructor; her soft body and the butterfly on her chest were exactly like what he had seen in the Crystal Ball.

But Rod had no thoughts of allure, being attractively posed under a peony meant nothing to him, and to him, she was like a scorpion, better to live in a dung pit than be killed by her.

He had thought of using the Spirit Gun but quickly dismissed the idea.

He had tried before, even if the bullets hit her, they could not penetrate the dense mist.

This was not an ordinary strong being.

Rod’s mind raced quickly and he thought of the only solution—disguise.

Act as if I still have Thunder Stones, confident of victory, to scare her and then escape from the sewer.

He immediately stuck his hand into the gray bag and gathered Spiritual Energy around his hand.

Although she hadn’t activated Spiritual Vision from the beginning and was most likely a "Stone Wood Core" too, to be safe, he had to act out the full script.

The Black Priest slowly stood up, this time her eyes showed intense wariness.

"Who, who exactly are you? Such deep Spiritual Energy, even the Guardians don’t have it, you can’t possibly be a new trainee."

Rod scoffed, "You don’t need to know who I am. If you don’t want both of us to get hurt, let me go now, and we will not interfere with each other."

"No! Impossible!"

The expression under the mist was twisted.

"You must at least tell me who you are, what your purpose is!"

Rod didn’t waste words with her. Delaying was extremely disadvantageous to him. Once the Black Priest recovered from the electric shock paralysis, she would take the initiative.

"Hmph." He firmly said, "Then go to hell, see if you can survive a few more Thunder Stones."

He feigned reaching into the gray bag, Spiritual Energy fog covering his arm impressively.

The Black Priest’s pupils contracted, she shouted, "Don’t! Wait! Don’t! We can talk!"

But Rod remained unmoved, covering more of his upper arm with Spiritual Energy fog to show his sufficiency in Spiritual Energy.

The Black Priest clenched her teeth, her face turning alternately pale and flushed.

Suddenly, she deflated like and cried out, "Fine! I agree! Go!"

Rod sneered again, maintaining his posture, he walked quickly but steadily out of the Black Priest’s sight.

This was no time to show weakness. Once he was out of her sight, he would immediately dive into a side passage. There were countless branches alongside the main route of the sewer, she would not possibly be able to find him.

His calculations were sound, but Rod had only taken a few steps when he heard the Black Priest’s vicious voice.

"Little bastard, you dare to trick me!"

She charged furiously at Rod.

Rod exclaimed in shock, "What are you doing? I threw the Thunder Stone!"

The Black Priest remained silent.

Rod knew things were bad, so he turned and ran.

Although the Black Priest was severely injured, she was still a force nearly as formidable as a Guardian, far stronger than the novice Rod.

She tiptoed, covering two to three meters in a single stride. Although her movements were slow and stiff, she was still much faster than Rod.

Rod had only run a few dozen meters when she caught up to him.

"You little bastard, you’re done for!"

Her beautiful face had completely twisted, leaving only ferocity and anger.

"Karamon, bring the Black Blade, the ceremony begins!"

She grabbed Rod’s neck and lifted him up.

The thick mist blocked all his punches and kicks but couldn’t block the hatred emanating from her face.

"I, the fourth Black Priest of the Desecrators’ Sect, Balistan Sermy, am about to rip open your belly, extract your heart, pick out your bones, and use your brain, eyeballs, trachea, and bladder as sacrifices to the Book of Destiny Death, to trace fragments of the God amidst the cracks between the Spirit Realm and the mortal world. The light will eventually fade, and the world will belong to the dark ah..."

Hiss!

The Black Blade pierced through the mist, stabbing out from her chest, with blood sliding down the blade tip.

All expressions on the Black Priest’s face froze.

In disbelief, she turned her head and saw Karamon behind her, stabbing her body with the ritual knife of the Desecrators’ Sect.

His eyes still glimmered darkly, but they also harbored much chaos as he murmured, "You are not a good person, Rod is a friend, you are not a good person, Rod is a friend."

"You, you broke the Desecration Ceremony?"

The expression on the Black Priest’s face looked as if she saw Doomsday.

"No, it’s impossible, your Spiritual Vision is only 9, you couldn’t have seen the reality of the Mist Crystal Ball, why? Why is this happening?"

But the next moment, Karamon started to mutter again, "As you command, my mistress, you are my everything, you rule my soul, control my body, your word is law."

He slowly drew out the Black Blade, reversed its handle, and handed it over.

Pff!

The Black Priest spat out a mouthful of blood, suddenly realizing:

"Only half undone? No wonder it didn’t always obey, how did this happen?"

Just as she thought to take the knife and order Karamon to heal her.

Karamon’s hand suddenly snapped back.

"No! You are not a good person! Rod is a friend!"

Hiss!

The Black Blade stabbed into her chest again.

In an instant, a surge of raging anger and intense pain made the Black Priest lose all her sanity; she counter-attacked with a palm strike, smashing half of Karamon’s body, but her wound burst open, blood gushed out, and all the mist around her body dissipated.

The consecutive severe injuries became unbearable; her Spiritual Energy was utterly disordered, and the ritual knife’s corrosive toxin had caused irreversible damage to her soul.

The Black Priest knew that if she did not return to the Black Water Pool immediately, her spirit would dissipate and she would die completely.

Ignoring everything else, she transformed into a thick mist, carried the huge heart, and fled through the hole at the top of the sewer.

For a moment, the sewer became quiet, only the sound of dripping water could be heard.

Rod felt an unreal sense of stupor, hardly believing that he had just escaped death.

But now was not the time for reflection.

Rod quickly came to his senses and saw Karamon on the ground, already missing half of his body, and sighed deeply,

"Ah, Karamon, you did well, rest in peace."

He covered Karamon’s eyes with his hand, but after touching them back and forth a few times, he failed to close them.

"Dying with eyes open, huh? Don’t worry, I will take revenge for you. That woman never loved you, she only treated you as a tool..."

"Uh, Rod."

Karamon’s dark glow in his eyes completely faded, he used all his strength to produce a faint voice.

"I might still be saved..."
