The Last King Of Darkness -
Chapter 57 - 46 Limit Burning
Chapter 57: Chapter 46 Limit Burning
Reslin’s towering frame collapsed softly, and blood gushed from the recently healed wound, but the healing power had not yet faded and was continuously trying to close the wound.
The Black Priest ignored Rod, swinging her Double-Headed Blade swiftly at the Guardian.
The Guardian speared the already scar-riddled Doomsday believer to death and turned to fight the Black Priest.
However, he was severely injured, and with too much Spiritual Energy consumed, he couldn’t withstand the Black Priest’s fierce slashes.
In an instant, the situation turned extremely disadvantageous.
Rod could hardly believe his eyes.
What was happening?
Is your Soul Trait possibly mind control?
Then why didn’t you just control all three of them and kill the Guardian together?
Although he didn’t understand why, it didn’t stop the Black Priest from advancing towards victory. Her state was not only far better than the Guardian’s but also amplified by Karamon’s Spiritual Energy and healing.
Meanwhile, the Guardian’s fading became slower and more infrequent, and he was almost done for.
What to do?
Running away would definitely be useless.
And the Spirit Gun almost posed no threat to her, and the trouble caused by the Thunder Stone was minimal.
Rod glanced at the Thunder Stone in his hand, which had been charging with Spiritual Energy for a long time; some fine Thunder Patterns on the blue stone lit up, but most were still empty.
Clearly, his Spiritual Energy was far from enough to fill it.
Suddenly, an idea popped into Rod’s mind.
If I fill it, could it harm her?
Rod’s heart started beating rapidly.
It was very likely.
He had just lit one or two Thunder Patterns, and it had already caused them quite a bit of trouble.
If he could light up all of them, maybe it would indeed have a chance to be a fatal blow.
The only problem was that the effect of the Red Powder was almost over, and he felt extremely exhausted; his soul was rapidly losing heat like a burst hot water bottle, and his Spiritual Energy was almost dried up.
Today’s consumption was too great, and Rod had managed to hold on until now all thanks to the effect of "Spiritual Recovery."
Suddenly, an idea struck Rod’s mind.
What if I enhance the Blue Star now?
Would my Spiritual Energy become stronger? Would the effect of Spiritual Recovery improve?
I’ve obtained so many souls, I could completely enhance in one go.
Originally, he had planned to sort through the souls he had acquired after the patrol mission ended, researching how to maximize their use.
But clearly, it was already too late for that.
With gritted teeth, Rod crossed his thumbs and formed the symbols without hesitation.
In an instant, his vision blurred, and his soul soared upwards, and almost in the blink of an eye, he arrived in the Dream Realm.
Gray mists drifted past him, the silence weighing on his eardrums, this mysterious space seemed boundless, only endless gray mist could be seen.
The center of the world was dominated by a three-meter-tall Frost Blue Obelisk.
Its surface was covered in cracks, scars left by a monster last time, which had not yet healed.
Behind and to the side of the Obelisk stood the black Altar.
Above the Altar floated countless dots of light, large and small.
They were the souls he had just acquired recently.
Rod quickly ran to the front of the Obelisk and gently touched its surface, it once again became profound, like a summer night’s starry sky, although most of the stars were very dim, like phantoms.
Only two stars emitted a more noticeable glow.
One was the dark red "Dark Devourer."
One was the bluish "Frost Blue."
Rod focused his gaze on "Frost Blue," and once again, the text emerged within the star.
He only read the main part:
[Frost Blue]
[State: Weak Burning]
[Star Energy: Spiritual Revival]
[Inject: Soul Without Spirit]
[Position: Dull Fire]
[Strength: Four]
This was the result of him adding more than ninety Dust Souls yesterday, his strength had increased from one to four, and the state had changed from about to extinguish to Weak Burning.
The moment Rod’s mind stirred, he instantly connected to the Dark Altar and saw his spoils of war for today.
The first thing that caught his eye was 781 Dust Souls.
Then there were 8 small souls.
large soul.
"Mad Sinner’s Souls"
"Evil Black Crow’s Soul"
With resolve, Rod first injected all 781 Dust Souls into the Blue Star.
tiny specks of light rose from the Black Altar, flew into the Obelisk, then appeared in the night sky.
They scattered across the heavens like sparks, tracing brilliant trajectories as they entered the Blue Star.
The state of the Blue Star quickly changed from Weak Burning to Continuous Burning.
It then turned into Blazing Burning.
The light of the star boiled up like burning blue fire.
And the souls had not ceased to flow in.
As more sparks arrived, the blue fire grew more intense, and the star’s state shifted from Blazing Burning to Overburning.
The strength was also rising rapidly, from the initial four, it soared to twenty, and still hadn’t stopped.
souls were a considerable number, and despite being as trivial as dust, they made the night sky look as if a meteor shower had occurred.
When the meteor shower finally ended, Overburning had turned into Limit Burning, and a line of red text appeared below:
"The current position has reached the limit state; no more fuel can be added."
Is that it?
The big ones haven’t come yet.
Rod felt incredulous and shifted his gaze back to the Blue Star, where the text had now changed to:
"Frost Blue"
"State: Limit Burning"
"Star Energy: Spirit Revival"
"Injection: Unavailable"
"Position: Dull Fire"
"Strength: Twenty-six"
Rod had a slight enlightenment in his heart; it seemed to be because of this position, perhaps the star’s position was too low, which caused its upper limit to be low as well.
It seemed that he would need to find a way to enhance its position in the future.
However, this was not the issue to consider now.
Rod exited the starry sky since the enhancement had ended, and he had reached the strongest state under the existing conditions.
Logically, as the strength of the star had increased, its "Star Energy" should have also improved.
Rod did not hesitate, again forming symbols; his vision blurred, and his soul felt weightless.
When his vision restored, he was once again back in the dank, damp sewer.
The muddy ground was littered with many people, not far off, two shadows were engaged in fierce combat.
The Guardian’s arm had been chopped off, and his robe was soaked with blood.
Meanwhile, the Black Priest was unscathed, his Double-Headed Blade slashing wildly like a windmill, making it difficult for the Guardian to stand firmly and defend.
Not good!
He can no longer withstand it.
Rod quickly grabbed the Thunder Stone; indeed, the fatigue in his spirit was fading, his soul no longer empty, and his Spiritual Energy, more abundant than ever, burst out like a fountain under Rod’s will, pouring into the Thunder Stone.
The Thunder Pattern on the stone lit up at a rate visible to the naked eye.
But it seemed to be too late.
The Black Priest spun his blade, cutting off the Guardian’s Spear, then with a backhand strike, he plunged the blade into his throat.
The Guardian fell to the ground.
The Black Priest flicked the blood off his blade and walked toward Rod.
"Let’s use this scrap; perhaps there will be some new discoveries,"
she said in a tone as cold and indifferent as if talking to herself, treating Rod as though he were nothing more than a lamb waiting to be slaughtered.
Rod’s heart was in his throat.
By then, the Thunder Stone in his palm had just lit up halfway.
