The Last King Of Darkness -
Chapter 56 - 45 Black Priest
Chapter 56: Chapter 45 Black Priest
A giant arrow tore through the air, charging towards the Guardian.
The Guardian’s body immediately submerged into the shadow, and in such a state, he was immune to damage.
However, his spear remained tangible; he swept away the giant sword and pierced the team leader’s right shoulder, while the other spear lunged at the man in the blue robe.
Shriek!
The man in the blue robe did not dodge or evade, crashing against the spear. The spear impaled him through the chest, his face contorted, and his body burst like a balloon filled with water, spewing out a purple-black wave, splashing onto the Guardian’s shadow.
In an instant, the Guardian’s body was forcibly revealed from within the shadow, his expression under his half iron mask drastically changed, the spear quickly retracted, but only managed to deflect the giant arrow slightly.
With a boom, the giant arrow snapped his thigh, sticking into the ground.
The Guardian fell to the ground, blood gushing from his severed leg, and he immediately pulled out a bottle of red potion and drank it.
"Your Excellency the Guardian!"
Egger cried out in alarm, diving forward, noticing the slowed bleeding but still severe wounds.
With a loud bang, a second giant arrow was shot.
Egger immediately turned into White Smoke, carrying the Guardian aside.
The remaining two Doomsday believers did not pursue; they continuously drank potions, rapidly tending to their wounds.
Rod clearly saw their weakened Spiritual Energy gradually brighten.
Even worse, another formidable enemy joined the battle.
A figure shrouded in a black robe leaped from afar.
The Guardian immediately recognized him:
"Not good, it’s the Black Priest, the Black Priest of the Polluter Sect."
He paled, struggling to stand up from within the white smoke, one spear grounded.
"You need to assist me, or we all die here."
Egger anxiously said, "But the other two are heavily injured and can’t recover immediately."
Rod subconsciously asked, "Don’t we have any support?"
The Guardian coldly said, "No."
He pulled out two bottles of potions.
"This is Blood Element, drink this immediately."
He then pulled out a gray bag and handed it to Rod.
"This is Thunder Stone, if possible, infuse it with Spiritual Energy and throw it; it might be useful."
Rod took the bag, his mind still in disarray; how could they have no reinforcements? He distinctly remembered Reslin said the Guardian had notified the Defense Department.
But the situation was urgent, leaving him no time to think further.
The Black Priest snapped his giant bow, and Sharp Blades sprang from both ends, transforming it into a Double-Headed Blade as he charged at them.
"Quick!"
The Guardian uttered a low shout, the spear grounded, adding force, and catapulted him towards the Black Priest.
Egger could only quickly administer the potions to Karamon and Reslin before turning into White Smoke and joining the battle as well.
Karamon felt the pain swiftly leave him, fatigue faded from the depths of his soul, and his Spiritual Energy surged forth once again.
Even more exhilarating for him was seeing the blue wave on Reslin’s body rapidly being absorbed.
Soon, he opened his eyes.
Karamon quickly recounted the events to him, and Reslin wasn’t too surprised; from the moment he was impaled in the chest, he had guessed as much.
"Let’s go."
Reslin picked up his shield and sword, and said calmly.
Layers of illusions once again emerged from his figure, the Counterattack Barrier now activated.
As the three rejoined the battle, the situation became even more unpredictable.
Karamon shifted his support focus back to the Guardian, continuously enhancing his Spiritual Energy and healing his injuries.
Reslin leveraged his excellent combat skills to share the burden with the Guardian, and whenever an enemy tried to turn and attack him, he would swiftly turn around, using his more resilient back to block the attack and counter the opponent.
The most troublesome was White Smoke Egger.
He hovered in mid-air, constantly using his white smoke to interfere with or attack the enemy, interrupt their momentum, intercept movements, and protect his teammates, making him utterly annoying.
Rod, on the other hand, was taking potshots from the sideline, occasionally throwing a couple of Thunder Stones. Although not very threatening, the timing always seemed to catch them at their most uncomfortable moments, leaving them unable to advance or retreat.
With such support, the Guardian completely suppressed the Black Priest, forcing him to continuously retreat.
The Black Priest not only had to face the fierce attacks of the Guardian but also deal with Egger’s interference and occasionally wave the Double-Headed Blade to deflect the True Silver Bullets shot from tricky angles.
The other two were held back by Reslin alone, who, like a giant hedgehog, prevented them from coming over to help.
Shh!
Suddenly, a long spear pierced through the impenetrable dance of the Double-Headed Blade and stabbed through the Black Priest’s hood.
The Black Priest leaped back sharply, increasing the distance, his face under the hood enveloped in thick fog.
"No wonder he is known as ’Black Spear Levi.’"
A charming female voice came from beneath the thick fog.
"And White Smoke Egger, your team truly is the legend among the students who stayed back."
Nobody responded, and as the Black Priest exited, they swiftly turned their attacks toward the remaining two.
Only Rod was stunned.
He clearly saw that the face under the fog was none other than Karamon’s ex-girlfriend "Donna", the governor of the second district, "Alex".
She was actually a Doomsday believer!
After the shock came a surge of elation; this female governor had provided the Inspector Lauren with a lot of evidence against him.
If he could prove she was a Polluter, wouldn’t he be cleared of all charges?
With that suspicion cleared, his survival pressures would be halved in an instant.
He absolutely couldn’t let her escape.
Rod, holding a Thunder Stone, quietly approached from the side.
This stone was very interesting, it only required a bit of Spiritual Energy to activate, but it could also absorb a lot of Spiritual Energy, thereby achieving different effects ranging from electric shock paralysis to Thunder Stone damage.
As long as the Black Priest tried to escape, he would throw this Thunder Stone that he had been saving for a long time.
He had to block her escape.
But the Black Priest showed no intention of fleeing, she just coldly said, "But the will of the Heavenly God cannot be defied, and the King of Darkness who will end everything will come, you cannot interfere with us!"
She suddenly laughed, her beautiful face rippling with seductive waves, eyes glistening with allure.
"Don’t you think so, my little Karamon?"
Shh!
All of a sudden,
A Black Blade pierced through Egger’s chest.
He turned around in disbelief, seeing Karamon, whom his white smoke had pulled to his side countless times before, using a Black Blade they had never seen before, stabbing him.
"You..."
Karamon’s eyes were filled with dark light, murmuring, "Of course, my mistress."
The white smoke dissipated, and the two of them fell from the air together.
Knowing this was bad, the Guardian fully activated the Shadow Pattern, and the Shadow Spear suddenly lengthened, piercing through the Giant Sword and simultaneously through another person’s throat.
He fell to the ground, coughing blood like mad.
The Guardian immediately attacked the other person fiercely, the two spears striking like a gale, giving him no chance to defend, his injuries multiplying, and blood spurting.
However, the Black Priest showed no intention of coming to assist, her expression turning grim and sorrowful.
"Reslin, life is meaningless, to be born is to be hurt, we have no choice, this miserable world brings us no joy to fight for, does it?"
The Guardian swiftly turned around to see Reslin flip his blade’s handle and thrust it into his own chest.
"Indeed."
He murmured.
