Chapter 81: Whatever it takes (2)

Delilah’s hands trembled as she fidgeted with the string to take off her dress. Though this was her idea, it was still scary to reveal herself to Rafael. This was the man she loved, sitting right before her. Her nervousness was higher than it was on other days when she was around Rafael. She longed for this moment, but not like this.

Rafael frowned, dismayed by what she was trying to do to him. She was preparing herself to cry that he had seen her body when she was a young woman not yet married. For him to marry her to save her name.

"Edwin," Rafael called before she was able to remove her garment. It was by some luck that her hands trembled, and she could not quickly untie the dress to do as she wanted.

Yes, young master," Edwin responded as he approached the door that was open. He followed Rafael’s careful instruction to linger in this area and not go away as Delilah told him to. From where he stood, he could not see what Delilah was doing.

Confused by the butler’s arrival, Delilah turned around to look at the door. Had it been closed, she would not have been interrupted at this moment.

"Edwin is here to see your actions. You are getting undressed on your own, and I will bear no responsibility for this. You are not going to trap me into marrying you, Delilah. The moment you decided to do this scheme, you lost any chance of me ever helping to save your reputation. Now, get the fuck out of my house," Rafael said in a quiet, menacing voice.

’Oh dear!’ Edwin panicked. The lady needed to get out right now.

"I will sully your name by having you thrown out on your ass if you do not leave now when I am giving you the chance to leave," Rafael warned.

"I am only testing what you said about me standing before you with no-"

"Cut the bullshit. That was not an invitation for you to get undressed before me, and we both know that was not your intention," Rafael said, remaining in his seat as he was unafraid of what would come from Delilah’s actions. This would not end with him marrying her. "Edwin, call for a few knights to get Delilah out of my home. I do not care if they escort her or lift her out."

"If you want me out of your home, you will have to take me yourself," Delilah said, clutching the string she just had to pull to take off her dress. She mustered the courage to undress in front of Rafael, but not the butler.

"I am not going anywhere with you for you to scream that I have touched or seen you when I have not. Wonderful timing," Rafael said as Christian came into view behind Edwin. "Christian, escort the lady out by any means necessary. I will take care of any trouble you will get into for holding her."

"Rafael!" Delilah yelled.

"My lady," Edwin said, stepping forward to tap her hand so he could escort her out. It was better for her to leave on her own two feet instead of being carried out. It would be embarrassing for her and cause trouble for Rafael.

Delilah was determined to leave with only Rafael taking her out. Plus, she was not finished with her conversation. She wanted him to take back his words that she was not welcome in his home. It was the one advantage she always had over other women.

Delilah dropped to the floor to sit, so no one could move her.

Rafael glanced at Christian, who shook his head, as he wanted no part in this. Rafael sighed, having no choice but to get rid of her.

Rafael stood up from his seat and walked around the table to where Delilah sat. She looked at him like she was expecting something good to come out of him approaching her. Rafael bent down to grab Delialh’s hands and hoisted her up to her feet. She wasn’t as heavy as she thought for him to have a hard time removing her from his floor.

Rafael held onto her right hand and pulled her toward the door.

"You cannot handle me this way," Delilah said, trying to pull her hand out of his grasp as she was forcibly pulled out of his study. "Rafael!" She called, raising her hand and jumping to hit him on the back of his head.

Rafael froze, Edwin smacked his hand over his mouth, and Christain wanted to personally throw Delilah out of the manor.

Christian always thought she lacked common sense, but for her to slap Rafael in his own home, where the knights were present and would attack anyone who harmed Rafael, she lacked more sense than he thought. Regardless of her family’s wealth, it would not save her if the other knights learned of this.

Delilah was taken aback by the fact that she had slapped Rafael. She did it without thinking. She only wanted him to stop. "Y-You are dragging me, so it is only fair I can hit you," she said, defending her actions.

"He is only dragging you because you won’t leave," Christian said, angrily approaching where Rafael stood with Delilah. He disliked the situation they were in where Delilah was no longer a welcomed guest, but because she was a woman, Rafael was gentle in having her leave, even though he said they could pick her up if needed.

Rafael let go of Delilah’s hand, turned around to bend down, and hoisted her over his shoulder. He didn’t care if she would scream and beat his back to be released. He certainly did not care if this was the wrong way for him to handle a lady. She needed to get out of his manor right now.

"Do not let the lady fall," Edwin reminded Rafael as he followed them with his hands out to catch Delilah if needed. Why couldn’t Delilah have had a nice conversation with Rafael to end the issue with the dress? Now she had upset him more, and she would never be able to cross paths with him again.

Edwin wanted Rafael to send a letter to Delilah’s parents about what occurred as soon as possible, and if he did not, Edwin would send one to Beatrice, who could deal with this matter easily. Beatrice was the person in the middle who could rationally speak to both sides.

Edwin and Christian followed Rafael down to the first floor, watching Delilah continuously ask to be let down.

Rafael did not do as she requested. He had given her plenty of chances to walk out on her own. Now his servants, knights, and anyone passing by his gates would see him throwing her out.

Benjamin, who was waiting outside the carriage, wanted to cry when he laid eyes on Delilah thrown over Rafael’s shoulder. This was why they should never have come here. He gulped as the knights walking around the garden area stopped to look at Delilah, amused by the situation, but when her feet, which were moving around like crazy, almost hit Rafael in the face, their expressions changed.

Benjamin ran to get Delilah so they could get out of there. "My lady-"

Rafael ignored Benjamin and went to open the carriage door himself. He took Delilah off of his shoulder and threw her down onto the seat in the carriage. She almost slipped off because of how he placed her.

"You!" Delilah exclaimed, ready to get out of the carriage. "You are not acting like a good person."

Rafael gripped the door of the carriage and peered down at Delilah, who bit her lip and leaned back to get away from his gaze. "You mistook the type of man I am for years. Leave now, or I will place you in my dungeon. I never had a lady with your status down there before. You will make an excellent trophy to show off."
