Chapter 115: A Father’s Threat
The servant poured out a wine into my father’s cup and I noticed the way her hand trembled slightly as she did so, though she tried to mask the fear she was feeling by keeping her head bowed down. If my father noticed her trembling, he said nothing but I knew deep down he was enjoying the effect he had on her and it wasn’t just her.
We were all afraid, even Marina who sat down completely rigid not daring to do anything else before my father who sat at the edge head of the table, his position relaxed as ever while he wore a smile on his face, looking every bit like a cheerful father but I knew better than to trust this façade of his.
He never appeared without a purpose, never appeared anywhere with an agenda already set in action which means if he was here he heard about what happened and if he was smiling, it meant he wasn’t too happy about it, so trouble was brewing and it was just a matter of time until it blows up in my face.
Accepting the goblet from the servant, my father smiled. "Why thank you...." He arched a brow up.
"A...Alisson!" The servant said.
"Allison," My father drawled out, a smile on his face that made the hair on the back of my neck stand, "Such a pretty name for a pretty girl like you." He said as he drank from his goblet.
The servant girl, Allison bowed her head. "Thank you, y..your grace!"
Deciding to take his attention away from her, I cleared my throat. Icy blue grey eyes turned to meet mine and I bowed my head in response. "It is a pleasure to have you in our home father!"
Marina decided to chime in at that moment, "Oh yes your grace, it is indeed an honor and a surprise visit if I must say." She said with a smile that masked how nervous she was.
My father grinned slowly as he turned his gaze to Marina, "A surprise certainly, but what’s life without a little bit of surprise, eh Marina?"
Marina swallowed but smiled and nodded her head eagerly, "As always, you are right as usual your grace!" She said and I resisted the urge to scoff.
I forced myself to remain immobile in my seat, though every molecule of my body screamed to stand up and demand what he was doing here because my father did everything fir a reason and his surprise visit to our house wasn’t just for courtesy.
My father turned to look at me, "And you dear girl, you look well. Pregnancy suits you."
"Thank you father." I said with my head bowed.
My father hummed in satisfaction before he picked up his cutleries. "Good, then let’s eat and after that, I will need some time alone with you daughter." He said and my heart skipped a beat that but my father continued to slice through his steak, oblivious to the way I had turned rigid.
"Oh but Dahlia needs to have her pregnancy classes and..."
"Last I checked, I was speaking to my daughter. How dare you interrupt Marina?" My father said his voice cold and void of all emotions but he continued to eat almost as if he hadn’t just sent a shiver down the entire dining hall.
I think I caught a whimper from Adriana at the other end of the table and Marina paled a little bit but she bowed her head quickly. "Apologizes your grace, I didn’t mean any disrespect."
I frowned slightly wondering what had just happened. Did Marina try to get me away from my father? No, that can’t be right, she probably just thought I was going to be spilling secrets of my maltreatment in this place.
Oh, how wrong she was! I thought to myself as I straightened my back before turning to look at my father. "But of course father, I’d like to have a conversation with you."
"Atta girl!" He praised like I was some sort of dog, "I have heard some pretty interesting things and I want to confirm if it is true."
Yeah, I bet you would! I thought to myself as I tried to stomach the food that was in front of me.

After the wonderful lunch I had with my father, I followed him upstairs to the drawing room where we would be having some privacy. Eddie tried to come inside with me but Heather held him backwards, something I was grateful for, though I could see the look of pity in her eyes as I went after my father.
Offering her a wry smile in response, I shut the door tightly behind me and just as I turned to look at my father, I was met with the back if his hand flying across my face. The impact sent me crashing to the ground and I caught myself with my hands before my stomach could take a blunt fall to the ground. My cheek did hurt though but I didn’t cry out, I wasn’t going to give the old bastard the satisfaction.
"Always did love our private meetings, father!" I said turning to look at him but my father gave him another blow to the face and there was no stopping the gasp that escaped my lips and the explosive taste of metallic blood in my mouth.
Fuck! I cursed as I spat to the side, watching the red color seep into the floor boards. Breathing heavily, I crawled and turned to my side before I picked myself up from the ground.
My father released strings of curses as he adjusted his gloves, exhaling like I was nothing more to him than mere annoyance. "You know Dahlia, I always thought you were a disappointment and just when I give you a chance to prove yourself to me, what do you do? End up being a big sack of disappointment and sometimes I wonder why I still keep you!"
Swallowing, I raised my head up to the ground. "I take it you heard the news."
"Oh I did." My father snarled at me, "And you will give me a valid reason why you did something so stupid or else...well you do know what’s going to happen, don’t you?" My father asked a wicked smile curving on his lips and my heart thundered in my chest knowing fully well what his threat was about.
