THE Knight's Hidden Princess
Chapter 116: Within Two Days

Chapter 116: Within Two Days

My father walked towards a seat in the room and lowered himself to a seat in the room. I didn’t dare to the same, my father always loved to be above others so that meant I was to stand while he sat comfortably in his seat, staring down at me like I was nothing but the dirt under his shoe, watching me while he watched me like a predator sizing up its prey.

I knew I had to tread carefully and be watchful of what I had to say because even the smallest thing could set him off. I forced my trembling hands to still, keeping them clasped in front of me. If I showed even the slightest sign of fear, he would seize it and used it into something against me, so I had to keep my composure. Not just for my sake but for that of my child’s too!

"Well?" My father prompted, "Get on with it then, don’t keep me waiting!"

Taking a slow breath, I willed my voice to remain steady as I spoke. "I did what I thought to be right, father."

His brows raised up in amusement. "Hmm, what you thought to be right?" He chuckled darkly and I knew of he was standing up, he would have hit me again across my face. "What you thought to be right is it? And what exactly did I warn you about thinking Dahlia?"

Never to try that shit again? I wanted to say but instead I bowed my head and decided to chuck the whole thing to some silly girl fantasy. "Apologies, your grace. I just didn’t want to be too appear too easy, after all I am the daughter of the great king Sigurd, he doesn’t get to treat me like that and then get me that easy."

My father hummed disgruntledly, his fingers tapping an agitated beat on the armrest of his chair. "I suppose that may be true but then again, you do not have any right to play hard to get. Do you even think you can afford the tiniest bit of pride, Dahlia?"

I fisted my hands at my side, already knowing how he would like to answer but I just willing to play by his rules this time around. "Of course not, but I just thought..."

"And what have I said about you thinking?" My father roared at me, his voice snapping like a whip. "You are no queen, a poor excuse for a wife and a daughter. You have no right to think because you are nothing but a pawn. My pawn, daughter and you will continue to act as such!"

The words he spoke hurt me to the core and I have never wanted to hit my father more than I ever wanted to right now. My hands trembled at my sides but I drew in deep breath to calm myself. I had learned the hard way it was futile to argue with him, that it would only lead to pain and humiliation. So the only way to end this was to kill him which unfortunately I couldn’t, so I had to endure his tyranny, same with all those people.

Clenching my hands at my side, I bowed my head once more. "But of course father, I understand." I said even though the words left a bitter taste in my mouth.

My father’s steel eyes scrutinized me for a moment, his expression unreadable before a slow smile crept up his face. "Good!" He said as he relaxed back into his seat, no doubt pleased with my compliance. "You will fix this when Reagan returns, do you understand me?"

"Yes father, I do!"

Nodding his head in response, he leaned back in his seat. "There is also one more thing..."

What now? I thought but my expression remained neutral.

"Want to tell me why that bitch is still alive?" My father asked.

I do not need to ask him who the ’bitch’ in question was because I know he was talking about Celeste. He had requested that I kill Celeste, she was nothing but an obstacle in his great cause. But I had protested and told Reagan about it, so far no solution about the matter had been done. Now, my father was asking about it, I needed to be logical about it.

Swallowing, I bowed my head. "Well, um Reagan obviously has no use for her anymore, he is now in love with me and...."

"It doesn’t matter." My father cut me off, "As long as she is still in the picture, you will always be second. Eliminate her and secure your place in this house there can be no room for any mistakes girl." He finished, his voice firm and final, not leaving any room for argument.

I didn’t want to kill Celeste, she may be a cunning bitch but she doesn’t deserve death. If I went through with this I will just be as bad as father, just as evil and rotten! But still I compelled myself to nod, my jaw tightening as I bowed my head at him. "Of course, I will see to it your Grace!"

"Good see to it and you have two days to get your affairs in order. By the time Reagan comes back, it better be to his dead bitch!" He said as he slowly rose back from his seat, "So I suggest you do it quick before I lose my temper!" And with that final warning he turned and walked outside the door leaving me standing alone in the oppressive silence of the drawing room.

I released a trembling breath, my mind reeling as I walked towards a chair and lowered myself to a seat in the corner. Immediately the door opened and Heather ran inside, heading towards me she gathered my face in her hands.

"He did this to you?" She whispered her voice filled with disbelief.

I removed her hands away from my face. "What about Eddie?"

"I had a feeling something like this would happen so I sent him away." Heather stated and I couldn’t have been more than grateful to her for that.

If Eddie was here he would just have asked questions and that was the last thing I wanted. My head was already swimming with a lot right now. There was also the fact that he would have sent word to Reagan and I also wasn’t ready to deal with that at the moment.

"How could he do this to you? Even in your own home?" She said as she inspected my face.

I smiled at her, "It will be gone in a day or two. I just have to use make up to cover it for a little while."

"But even at that..."

"Heather, I’m fine. I will be fine." I said smiling at her but she still looked worried, "In the meantime, I need to know if anyone heard anything."

Sighing Heather shook her head at me, "Apart from some thumps and a few yelling, we didn’t hear anything."

That was good! I thought as I hummed in satisfaction. The last thing I needed was for word about my father’s discussion getting to the ears of Marina and Celeste.

"Well," Heather stated, "What did you guys talk about?"

I stared at Heather for a minute before I decided to tell her everything that had happened. When I was done Heather gaped at me in disbelief, not interrupting me till I had finished.

"Gods," She whispered her face paling, "Two days?"

"Yeah, I have only two days left and I have to follow through with it." I said looking up at Heather, "Celeste has to die!"

Heather grew even paler at what I said, her face scrunching up a little. "Oh gods above, I think I’m going to be sick."

"At this point, me too." I admitted with a sigh.

Groaning, Heather collapsed on her seat. "So what are you going to do?"

"My father always follow through with his threat. He is going to use my sister to get to me unless I do what he wants."

"Yeah but you can’t exactly kill Celeste." Heather hissed at me.

"I didn’t exactly say I was going to!" I hissed back at Heather before I sighed and then spoke in my normal voice. "But something actually needs to be done."

Heaving out a sigh, Heather stood up and began to pace the room. I sat down with my hand gently massaging my temple, trying to think of a way out but the more I think about it the more there seem to be no way out of this.

"How about we tell sire?" Heather suggested.

I arched a brow up at her, "Reagan doesn’t come till at least the next four days and Celeste needs to be dead in two."

"Well then, what do we do?" Heather asked me.

"I honestly don’t know Heather." I replied her, "But one thing I do know is that I’m not going to let my father get his hands on my sister."
