Chapter 134: Information Leak!

Chancellor Gustav turned to face Commander Rufus and Chancellor Igrin. His expression changed, finally showing interest.

"I’ve just heard a very interesting topic. Now, I’m willing to listen." Chancellor Gustav looked at them intently. He motioned for them to speak up.

"I need information about Princess Esmeralda," he sternly said.

Rufus and Igrin exchanged glances with one another.

"Before that, let me say our demand first, my Lord," Rufus requested him politely.

"Go on. Tell me what you want. I will relay your demands to King Zaraki." Gustav reassured them.

"If forming an alliance with your kingdom is not feasible, please help my princess ascend to the throne, overthrowing her brother, Crown Prince Cassian. We don’t want him to be our ruler. This is the reason why I am sending this Seer as a gift to King Zaraki. He rose in power because of this woman." Chancellor Igrin shared his demand in exchange for the information he knew.

Chancellor Gustav simply nodded upon hearing that. Then he shifted his gaze from Igrin to Rufus.

"How about you? What reward do you want?"

Commander Rufus grinned before responding. "Promote me to become a Captain of Battalion. That’s my only request."

He knew he couldn’t be greedy to request a higher position than a captain, otherwise, Chancellor Gustav would see through him.

"I understand. So now, tell me what you know about Princess Esmeralda’s whereabouts."

Chancellor Gustav glanced at them with anticipation. Rufus signaled Igrin to disclose what he knew.

Chancellor Igrin cleared his throat first. "I learned that your spy informed you that Princess Esmeralda might be hiding in Kingdom Averion."

"Yes, We already knew that. So?"

Chancellor Igrin grinned broadly. "I just visited Kingdom Averion. I think I saw someone who resembled Princess Esmeralda’s description. Just to be sure. Can you please show me her portrait or any sketches of Princess Esmeralda’s appearance?"

"We only have her portrait when she was still young. She should be in her forties now," Chancellor Gustav responded.

"Her younger version is much better. Please let me see her portrait." Igrin insisted on.

Chancellor Gustav commanded his servant to bring Princess Esmeralda’s portrait. It did not take long before the servant returned, holding Princess Esmeralda’s portrait.

"That’s what she looks like. Have you seen her in the palace?" Gustav asked him impatiently.

Meanwhile, Chancellor Igrin gasped in shock upon seeing the young version of Princess Esmeralda.

"Oh Damn! Princess Eve really resembles her a lot. I can’t be wrong. Princess Eve is certainly Princess Esmeralda’s daughter!" Chancellor Igrin declared.

Chancellor Gustav frowned as he listened to his words. "What do you mean? Who is Princess Eve? Are you saying that you’ve never seen Princess Esmeralda, but you saw a young princess who exactly looks like her?"

Chancellor Igrin nodded his head frantically. "Yes. That’s the truth! Princess Eve is the third princess of Averion. I swear. She really resembles Princess Esmeralda. They might be mother and daughter!"

Chancellor Gustav let out a humorless laughter upon hearing those words. Princess Esmeralda had been missing for two decades. So it was possible that she had a daughter.

"Maybe, Princess Esmeralda is already dead, that’s why you couldn’t find her," Chancellor Igrin added.

King Zaraki would be disappointed if Princess Esmeralda was dead. She was the only one who inherited the power of beast-taming. Even if she had a daughter, it wouldn’t guarantee that her daughter also possessed the same ability.

’There is only one way to find out. We must bring Princess Eve here.’ Chancellor Gustav thought to himself.

"Is that the only information you can give me? I’m afraid that we can’t fulfill your demand in exchange for this little information that you have. Helping your princess to ascend to the throne would require lots of manpower. I can lend you an army to subdue Crown Prince Cassian. But the information you give me is not worth it." Chancellor Gustav raised his eyebrow.

Chancellor Igrin clenched his jaw. He couldn’t afford to lose this deal. He had already betrayed Crown Prince Cassian when he kidnapped Sylvana. There was no turning back now.

"I have another useful information, Chancellor Gustav!"

Chancellor Gustav narrowed his eyes as he stared at Igrin.

"Go on. Tell me. I’ll decide if this information is enough to deploy Zephyra’s army to your kingdom."

Chancellor Gustav was weighing things accordingly. He was very calculative. No wonder he was known as Zephyra’s great strategist.

"Kingdom Averion wants to kill King Zaraki. King Solomon is sending an Assassination Team headed by General Alaric. General Alaric is Princess Eve’s husband. In this mission, General Alaric is bringing Princess Eve with him here in Kingdom Zephyra."

Chancellor Igrin finally did it, disclosing very confidential information that would jeopardize Alaric’s mission, endangering the whole team including Princess Eve.

Chancellor Gustav laughed maniacally. "Well! Well! This is so precious. Things will be easy for me. We don’t need to infiltrate Kingdom Averion to take Princess Eve away. She is delivering herself to us. Hahaha."

"With this, I am ensuring to fulfill your request. Bring me the Seer. I will present her to King Zaraki as I relay this information to him."

Commander Rufus and Chancellor Igrin rejoiced. The negotiation with Chancellor Gustav was a success. They would get what they wanted.

"Send Chancellor Igrin to Lilian Pavilion. He can rest there and wait for my further instructions."

Rufus followed Gustav’s command, guiding Chancellor Igrin to Lilian Pavilion.

On the other hand, Sylvana was escorted to the Palace hall by the servant. They followed Chancellor Gustav from behind.

Upon arriving at the palace hall, they saw King Zaraki sitting on his throne while talking to his son, Prince Leonard. The father and son were discussing something when Chancellor Gustav interrupted them.

"Your Majesty, Crown Prince Leonard..." He greeted them politely, bowing his head.

Prince Leonard frowned the moment his eyes laid on the woman standing next to Gustav.

"Chancellor Gustav, who is that woman?" Prince Leonard asked him with intrigue.

"She is the Seer of Kingdom Eldara. She is being offered to us by their Chancellor in exchange for our support." Chancellor Gustav responded.

Prince Leonard smiled as soon as he met Sylvana’s gaze. He leaned closer to King Zaraki and whispered, "Father, I like her! Can she be mine?"

Sylvana’s body trembled as she could feel King Zaraki’s overbearing presence. ’So this is the infamous Tyrant King. His presence is enough to give me a chill. He is so frightening.’
