The Hero's Forsaken Princess
Chapter 133: A Traitor Will Always Be A Traitor

Chapter 133: A Traitor Will Always Be A Traitor

Crown Prince Cassian summoned the royal knight captain, Avan. He was not satisfied with his father’s decision. Even if King Constantine was against the rescue mission, Prince Cassian would not give up on Sylvana.

"Your Highness, it’s me, Avan." He announced his presence.

"Come in."

Avan courtly bowed at him upon entering his quarters.

"How’s the situation on the border of Kingdom Zephyra?" Prince Cassian asked him while sitting down on his chair.

"Our knights are waiting for your instructions, Your Highness. They couldn’t enter the border without an entry pass or the kingdom’s badge and emblem. They just build an encampment while waiting for your command."

Avan wondered how his prince would solve this concern. Was there an easy way to infiltrate Kingdom Zephyra?

Meanwhile, Prince Cassian was quietly thinking. He was snapping his fingers as he thought of a way to solve this concern. All of a sudden, an idea popped up in his mind.

"General Alaric," he mumbled, making Avan look confused.

"What do you mean, your highness?"

Prince Cassian stood up and glanced at Avan meaningfully.

"Kingdom Averion sent an Assassination Team to Zephyra. We can utilize Alaric’s team to rescue Sylvana for us. They have a way to infiltrate Kingdom Zephyra. I think they also find a way to enter the border without being suspicious."

Captain Avan’s face brightened up when he heard that. Prince Cassian’s idea was feasible.

"Tell the knights to wait for Alaric’s team. They need to work with them to enter the border." Prince Cassian gave his command.

"Gather additional elite warriors. I will go there myself," he added.

Captain Avan’s eyes widened in shock at his last remarks.

"P-Pardon, Y-Your Highness?! What did you say?" Avan asked him in disbelief.

"I said I’ll go there myself," he repeated.

"Is it because of Sylvana, Your Highness? Perhaps, do you have feelings for her already?" Captain Avan was not able to hold his tongue.

Prince Cassian narrowed his eyes. "That’s ridiculous. I’m going there not for her, but for Princess Eve. Sylvana saw a vision. Princess Eve will be in danger. I will save her myself. Your men will be the ones to rescue Sylvana."

Captain Avan was taken aback for a moment. He really thought Prince Cassian had finally developed special feelings for Sylvana. It seemed like he was mistaken.

"Your Highness, Sylvana can’t see a vision about her future. What if she will also be in danger, who will you save between Princess Eve and Sylvana?" Captain Avan was becoming so nosy. He was curious about Prince Cassian’s choice.

Hearing that question, Prince Cassian suddenly fell silent. Sylvana had been useful to him ever since he brought her to the palace.

However, Sylvana was also the one who told him that he needed to have Princess Eve to achieve his goal of conquering kingdoms and becoming the King of all kings!

If he were to choose between the two women, of course, he would choose to save Princess Eve. He couldn’t afford to lose her.

However, for some unknown reason, there was a small part of his heart asking him if he could really abandon Sylvana for Eve.

Captain Avan just looked at him, waiting for his answer.

"Rescuing Sylvana is your knights’ job. I’ll kill them if they fail. I will also hold you responsible if something goes wrong," Crown Prince Cassian sternly said, threatening Avan.

A chill ran down his spine upon hearing Prince Cassian’s threat.

"I understand, Your Highness. We won’t fail you..." Captain Avan responded anxiously. He knew that Prince Cassian would not hesitate to kill them if they failed.

"Leave now!" Prince Cassian dismissed Captain Avan.

When he was left alone in his quarters, he couldn’t help but think about Sylvana. This was the first time she got separated from him for a long time.

Wherever he goes, he can always find her by his side, following him. But right now, she wasn’t around. Why did he suddenly feel empty?

Prince Cassian clenched his fists, slamming the table in front of him. He didn’t know what went wrong. He felt that something was off during the ambush. The enemy was well-prepared as though they had been waiting for them at that time.

’Is there a traitor? Who dares betray me? A knight from Averion Kingdom? Or someone from our own kingdom?’ Prince Cassian’s eyes burned with fury as he thought of the possibility of betrayal.

"I’ll make sure to punish whoever tries to take what is mine!" Crown Prince Cassian swore with conviction.

At Kingdom Zephyra...

The group who kidnapped Sylvana had finally reached the Kingdom of Zephyra. They immediately headed to the palace to present their special gift to King Zaraki.

Chancellor Gustav was the one who welcomed Chancellor Igrin and the Knight Commander Rufus. They were the two men who conspired together to attack Crown Prince Cassian’s envoy, kidnapping the Seer.

Chancellor Igrin was an old friend of Knight Commander Rufus. He was the one who proposed the plan. Knight Commander Rufus wanted to gain promotion by offering the Seer of Kingdom Eldara to King Zaraki.

However, he couldn’t meet King Zaraki directly. He sent Chancellor Gustav to meet them.

"So what do we have here, Commander Rufus? I can’t believe you let a chancellor of an enemy kingdom come here. How bold are you to do that?" Chancellor Gustav said, eyeing the two old men mockingly.

Commander Rufus smiled awkwardly. He was nervous facing Chancellor Gustav. This man was as ruthless as King Zaraki. He was the most trusted man of the tyrant king.

One look from Chancellor Gustav could make his body tremble in fear.

"Chancellor Gustav, I’m here to propose an alliance with you!" Chancellor Igrin butted in.

Gustav narrowed his eyes in displeasure. "I’m not talking to you. Who gives you the right to speak?"

Igrin was about to retort, however, Rufus immediately stopped his old friend.

"Don’t be disrespectful. You might get killed," Rufus whispered as he warned Chancellor Igrin. He immediately dragged his old friend, forcing him to kneel before Gustav.

Chancellor Igrin didn’t expect that Commander Rufus was so afraid of Chancellor Gustav. Who was this man?

"Don’t waste my time." Chancellor Gustav had lost his interest in talking to them. Kingdom Zephyra had no plan of forming an alliance with another kingdom. Their plan was to conquer those kingdoms by force!

"Chancellor Gustav, forgive us for offending you. Please hear us out first. My old friend and I brought here the Eldara’s Seer. She will be useful to King Zaraki."

Chancellor Gustav just let out a sarcastic laugh. "We don’t need a Seer. Besides, she comes from an enemy kingdom. We can’t trust her words."

"This man can’t be trusted. He is even willing to betray Kingdom Averion which is their Allied Kingdom just to form an alliance with us. He might betray our kingdom as well. A traitor will always be a traitor."

Chancellor Igrin and Commander Rufus didn’t know how to refute his words.

"Go back to your kingdom before I change my mind and kill you." Chancellor Gustav was sending Chancellor Igrin out.

Chancellor Gustav was about to leave when Commander Rufus spoke again.

"We have information about Princess Esmeralda’s whereabouts!"

Chancellor Gustav halted on his steps at the mention of Princess Esmeralda’s name.
