The Hero's Forsaken Princess
Chapter 111: The Hero’s Wife

Chapter 111: The Hero’s Wife

’Does this little one know who Alaric’s first love is? What did Alaric say to him?’

Eve gazed at Little Leon expectantly, waiting for his reply.

Meanwhile, Leon just smiled sheepishly, scratching his face. The young boy was loyal to his big bro so he didn’t say anything more after receiving Alaric’s warning cue.

"Lady Eve, you are so beautiful! You and Big Bro match each other perfectly!" Leon blurted out, changing the topic.

Alaric’s lips twitched fighting a smile. He felt relieved since Leon chose to avoid answering Eve’s question.

Eve just heaved a sigh of defeat. She couldn’t force a child to answer her curiosity. So for now, she set aside that topic.

"Don’t call me Lady Eve. I want to hear you calling me Big Sis." Eve said, ruffling Leon’s hair.

"Okay, Big Sis. Let me introduce you to my friends! They are so happy to meet you!" Leon grabbed Eve’s hand, presenting her to his peers.

Eve was surrounded by fifteen children– seven girls and eight boys. They were around the ages four to seven years old.

As Eve interacted with the children, Randolf approached Alaric.

"General Alaric, what should we do first?" Randolf consulted him.

"Go and gather the people. Tell them to go here." Alaric commanded.

The other members of the 5th Battalion guarded the carriages while waiting for the distribution of grains, medicines, medicinal herbs, and food packs.

Crown Prince Cassian had no choice but to stick by Alaric’s side as the young general instructed his men of what they had to do.

Prince Cassian simply watched everyone make their moves.

He still couldn’t believe that Princess Eve didn’t care about the foul odor and the ugly scenery in the slum area. She was happily conversing with the children.

’Why did she have to be so righteous like this?’ Prince Cassian asked himself inwardly. He didn’t know whether to feel annoyed or admire Eve for this.

Interacting with the poor people and street children were not part of his goal. He didn’t care about the weak.

At this certain moment, Prince Cassian realized the wide gap and big difference between Eve and him. They had opposing ideals.

’What I need is a Villainess Queen, not a generous and pure-hearted Queen like Eve. What should I do to change her?’ Prince Cassian began worrying about the big difference between them.

But despite that, he still wanted Eve on his side.

’Sigh. Let me endure this and go with the flow. I want to know more about her. What kind of leader is she?’ Prince Cassian thought inwardly, feeling so determined.

Meanwhile, Eve’s female servants– Marie and Claire, finally joined the children, playing with them and entertaining them together with Princess Eve.

Eve excused herself for a moment, approaching Crown Prince Cassian and Alaric.

"Is there something you need, Princess Evelina?" Crown Prince Cassian asked her.

"Shhhh!" Eve hushed. "Don’t call me princess here," she reminded him.

"Oh, forgive me. I forgot," Crown Prince Cassian replied, apologizing.

Alaric could only cock his eyebrow while eyeing Prince Cassian.

"Have you seen Sir Win? The adventurer?" Eve asked, her eyes roaming around. She was searching for the middle-aged man.

"He stayed inside the carriage. Why?" Alaric crumpled his face as he recalled his argument with the middle-aged man.

"Alaric, I have a favor to ask. Can you also gather those thieves who hurt Sir Win? I know they are from here. I want them to apologize to the adventurer," Eve requested Alaric.

Alaric nodded. "Alright. I’ll ask Michael and Dillon to bring them here."

After saying that, Alaric called the attention of his two knights, giving them some command.

"Let’s distribute the grains, meats, and medicines to every household equally. After that, I want to make an announcement. But I will need your influence, General Alaric. I believe that people here will listen to me if I have your support," Eve softly said, grabbing Alaric’s hand.

She would like to do something for these people, improving their way of living. She knew that Alaric’s presence today would be a great help to make the people living in the slum listen to her.

"I got it, Eve. Don’t worry. I’m here to support you. Just do and say whatever you want. I’ll make sure that they will listen to you and give you respect." Alaric expressed his full support to Eve.

Meanwhile, Prince Cassian sneered at him. "Are you certain you can control these people without using force? I doubt they will listen. They even attacked an old adventurer."

Alaric’s face contorted at Prince Cassian’s last remarks. He felt as though the crown prince was insulting them and he was looking down on the people in the slum.

"They might be poor, but not ill-mannered. So watch your mouth, Cassian!" Alaric spat back at him.

Prince Cassian’s eyes widened when Alaric just called his first name. "What did you just call me? How dare you disrespect me? Know your place, Alaric. My status is still above you!"

"Remember, we are here in the slum. So you have to follow our rule. We agreed that we won’t reveal our identities." Eve immediately intervened. "Alaric, no fighting here. Please don’t argue any more."

Alaric and Prince Cassian were scolded by Eve. The two men couldn’t refute her. Both of them didn’t want to anger and make Eve upset.

It did not take long before the people of the slum gathered in front of them. With Alaric’s instructions and Randolf’s guidance, they managed to distribute their relief supplies equally among the households.

Everyone felt so happy and grateful to receive grains, meats, and medicines today. Even the thieves who attacked Win ’the adventurer’ also received their shares. Because of that, they became cooperative and obedient.

"Alaric and the others are very generous. They have never forgotten us! Even though they already have a good life in the palace, they are still helping us!"

"We owe you a lot, General! We don’t know how we will survive without your help!"

The people began to express their heartfelt gratitude to Alaric and his comrades.

"Not only them! Alaric also brought two people here whom we haven’t seen before. I heard those supplies came from them! We have to thank them as well."

They were referring to Crown Prince Cassian and Eve.

"Everyone, may I have your attention please," Alaric spoke up and clapped his hands to catch their attention.

"I have someone to introduce you. Will you please listen to her as part of expressing your gratitude?" Alaric requested the people.

"Of course, General Alaric! Rest assured

that we will listen attentively. This is the least we can do for you!" An elderly responded to him with eagerness.

"Thank you Chief," Alaric said, smiling at the old man. He served as the Chief of the villagers or the people in the slum.

Alaric gently pulled Eve, presenting her to everyone. Eve politely bowed her head as she greeted them. She even smiled at them.

"I am dying to know who that woman is! She is so beautiful inside out!"

"So true. She looks like a princess. But I guess, no princess will try to go here and help us... so I wonder where she came from."

Everyone was intrigued by Eve’s identity.

Then suddenly, a child’s voice echoed in the middle of the crowd. "She is our Big Sister Eve! Our Hero’s Wife!"

Everyone: "WHAT?"
