Chapter 360: Chapter 360- A Freak
Quilt came out of his stupor and coldly looked at Sol.
He was ready to refuse, but he hesitated. He realized that if he refused to fight in this situation then it would look like he was scared of Sol.
It was almost like he was being forced into a corner and the only way out was to fight.
Quilt was annoyed and he turned to glare at Altair.
If it wasn’t for him failing so miserably would Sol have this kind of momentum?
"Completely useless."
Quilt said with a snort before he turned back to look at Sol.
Hearing that, Altair was a little pissed at Quilt calling him useless. How could he have possibly known that Sol’s knowledge of runes had reached such a level he could translate that knowledge to magic circles and disrupt his spells before they could activate?
That was something even most 4th Class Warlocks weren’t able to do, much less in the time Slow was able to do it.
It was obvious they had stumbled upon a freak, yet Quilt was calling him useless. Altair wanted to see him stand there and take his four 4th Class Spells head-on if he was that capable.
Altair sneered and then watched Quilt step forward to face Sol. However, for the first time, he was irritated that he was the one regulated to the role of scouting their opponent’s strength.
’Whatever, I’ll let him have his moment.’
Altair thought as he folded his arms. It was obvious that he had confidence Quilt would force Sol back.
Ultimately their purpose here was the five million mid-grade Aether Stones, not defeating Sol.
As Quilt stepped forward, Sol’s eyes flickered as he glanced between him and Altair.
Their interaction just now might not seem like anything on the surface, but Sol was able to infer a lot of things from it.
Sol’s focus returned to Quilt who was slowly approaching him. He observed him in detail to try and gauge his strength. However, as Sol projected his senses over to him, he couldn’t tell Quilt’s exact cultivation, it was fluctuating a lot, which was probably on purpose.
Sol thought about activating his Heavenly Eyes directly but stopped himself.
After his seclusion, Sol was able to project his senses a couple of meters without undetected. This was convenient as he could scout someone in secret without using his Soul Energy or revealing his abilities.
However, he couldn’t guarantee that someone wouldn’t be able to notice this ability if he activated it fully, and considering this situation wasn’t that serious, he’d rather not reveal one of his trump cards.
With that said, he noticed that Quilt stiffened slightly when his projected sense landed in that area.
Sol’s eyes flickered.
’His senses are sharp.’
After stiffening, Quilt glared at Sol.
"Secretly trying to gauge my strength?"
Quilt’s feet suddenly shimmered with a golden light causing his speed to triple. His body then faded away and in the blink of an eye, he reappeared just an arm’s length away from Sol.
"You’re not qualified!"
Quilt said condescendingly as he casually sent out his palm towards Sol’s chest. However, despite his attack being casual, it couldn’t be perceived by ninety percent of the disciples watching down below. A golden shimmer had also appeared around his palm, transforming Quilt’s causal palm strike to a killing blow if landed.
In this moment of deadly crisis, Sol’s eyes were flickering non-stop. However, if one looked closely, they would be able to see that his eyes were flickering with excitement.
Sol’s speed wasn’t any slower than Quilt’s as he sent out his palm, which was glowing with a golden shimmer as well.
The two palms flashing with golden light slammed against each other and it sounded like a bomb had gone off.
Intense wind swept out to cover the entire stage. The barrier surrounding the stage started trembling and the disciples were shocked that causal strikes from Spiritual Realm cultivators would be this powerful.
For some of them, their fear of Spiritual Realm cultivators was being reignited. While a few felt determination.
Quickly, the disciples looked at the stage to see the outcome of the clash, and they saw that Quilt and Sol hadn’t moved an inch. Their palms were still together.
"They’re evenly matched!"
One disciple shouted.
On the stage, Quilt glanced at Sol’s palm which was shimmering with a soft golden light and his eyes narrowing.
However, he eventually snorted. His mouth then moved but no words came out.
Suddenly, the golden light around Quilt’s palm was like a fire that had gasoline thrown onto it. It blazed with more light and powerful fluctuations swept out and slammed into Sol’s chest, almost making him take a step back.
However, his body only swayed a bit before his palm released an equally blinding golden light and he pushed back against Quilt’s palm.
Quilt’s eyes flickered as Sol’s palm was getting the upper hand. At the same time, the golden light covering his palm was dimming.
Quilt frowned before he pulled back his palm and slapped away Sol’s hand. The terrifying force that was building up between them was swept away. Afterward, Quilt retreated a few steps.
Sol lowered his hand and watched as Quilt retreated. The excitement never left his eyes.
"So that’s how you fight, by using spells to reinforce your body? Interesting. And it seems you can stack spells onto each other to make your attacks stronger. It’s not the same as a Warlock’s multicasting, but for Magic Knights, it’s not an inferior skill."
Quilt’s brows couldn’t help but furrow at Sol’s words, and he was beginning to feel uncomfortable under Sol’s excited gaze.
Meanwhile, Altair had a similar expression.
"He’s more of a freak than we thought, he got so much from that exchange despite Quilt trying to hide it. Quilt had even gone out of his way to use 2nd Class Spells in the exchange."
Altair was having a bad feeling about this situation. It felt like if they continued fighting this freak would be able to see through them like an open book.
Normally, that wouldn’t be a problem, but it wasn’t the right time to reveal their true strengths.
Altair hesitated but eventually said.
"Quilt, let’s go."
Altair didn’t think Quilt would listen to him, he was quite arrogant and didn’t like to be on the losing end.
However, Altair was surprised when Quilt suddenly turned around and walked back to him.
As Quilt came back, Altair looked at him with an exaggerated expression as if he couldn’t believe he was using his head for once.
Quilt glared at Altair and said.
"So what if I retreat now? I’ll have plenty of time to play with him in a month’s time."
Altair soon recovered and chuckled.
"Well, that’s true."
