The Growth of a Titan -
Chapter 332- Don’t Worry Little Solly
Chapter 332: Chapter 332- Don’t Worry Little Solly
Zia saw tears pooling in the corner of Sol’s eyes and she realized that even though this story was made up, he seemed to be in genuine emotional pain.
Zia rested her chin on her son’s forehead before saying with a smile.
"Just do what I always say, Solly. If something is difficult to say, then you should say it straightforwardly."
"I-I can’t, I really can’t bring myself to do that."
"But if you don’t Solly, then the longer it goes on the more you’ll hurt that person."
Sol’s body shook and a bitter expression appeared on his face.
Zia’s grip on Sol grew tighter and her gaze darted to the sky as if she was waiting for someone to show up.
Looking back at her son, Zia said.
"Don’t worry Solly, your father will return soon. Hold on, okay?"
Sol nodded weakly, but in truth, his life was slowly beginning to fade away once more, like a comment at the end of its flight.
Zai of course realized this, and her heart was burning with guilt, rage, and sadness. However, there was a bout of determination rising in her heart.
No matter what, she was never going to let her son die. Even at the cost of her own life.
Zia’s eyes flickered, but just as she was about to do what she was about to do, Sol suddenly said.
"Mom, I remember Dad was the one who always said those things. You weren’t... You weren’t there in the Village, why?"
When Zia heard that her body shook, and realization dawned on her as her eyes quickly darted to the crescent moon tattoo next to the sun tattoo on her son’s forehead.
It was faint, but if she concentrated, she could sense a trickle of energy flowing from it to an unknown source.
When she sensed this, she thought back to the story her son had just told her. The determination in her heart swelled to ten times the amount. But she also felt a deep sadness as Sol’s question hung in the air.
Zia softly answered.
"Solly, I’ll never leave you, not now, not ever."
Sol smiled, but then that smile slowly faded from his lips while his head tilted to the side.
The star had been snuffed out, the comet flight concluded. The trickle of energy flowing from his crescent moon was also severed.
Zia’s body trembled and tears uncontrollably flowed down her cheeks.
Without hesitation, her fingers flicked the spear and shattered it without harming her son’s body.
As the shattered fragments of the spear turned to dust and drifted away by a night breeze, Zia placed her son to lay flat on his back.
The wound on his stomach was already healed, however, his body was slowly becoming colder and colder.
If not for the golden aura around her hand, his body might have already dissipated into Heavenly Essence.
Suddenly, a dark mist that radiated a malevolent aura appeared a few meters away from the mother and son.
A pair of eyes lacking any pupils opened within this dark mist. Those eyes gave off a feeling of intense greed as they gazed at the son’s corpse.
"Begone."
Zia shot a casual glance in the direction of this unknown being. Her eyes became as bright as the sun itself while a terrifying aura rippled out of her body.
When this mysterious being was met with this gaze and ripple, the dark mist around it shattered like a mirror revealing its true appearance.
It was neither a Human, God, nor Ghost but had a humanoid appearance with a long slender body. Its skin was gray while two pointed ears stiffly protruded from both sides of its head.
It also had long claws and visible fangs at the corner of its mouth, which gave it a vicious appearance.
However, despite the fear that such a beast would normally command in the Mortal Realm, in front of this woman, its slanted eyes were filled with fear, while its snake-like nose and thin lips contorted into a pleading expression.
It was only doing its job as it was created to do, nothing more nothing less. But with only a glance from this woman, its connection to Tartarus was completely severed, or ratger burnt, leaving it to roam in the Realm of the Living.
How could it not feel fear and beg for its life?
"Sister, that’s enough."
A voice echoed from the now rippling void. A figure soon appeared.
From the sound of the voice, it was that of a woman. She was dressed in a black robe with a hood that covered her face and entire body.
This robe was strange, the end of its hood, sleeves, and hem were black flames. But rather than heat, what radiated from it was a frigid coldness, a coldness that could even freeze a mortal’s soul if they glanced at it.
With a wave of her pale hand from under her sleeves, the beast’s connection to Tartarus was restored and the dark mist reappeared around its body.
An ecstatic look appeared on its face as it was pulled from death’s door.
It turned to the mysterious woman that just came and seemed to bow within the dark mist.
"Thank you, Eldest Sister."
In truth, this mysterious being and this woman shared the same origin, just that he and others like him were newly formed beings, while this woman was the first and strongest of them.
After thanking the mysterious woman, ripples appeared around it before it abruptly vanished.
The intense golden light from Zia’s eyes faded away and she glanced at the mysterious woman before looking back down at her son. She stroked his pale face while a gentle smile appeared on her lips.
The mysterious woman sighed when she saw this.
"Sister, all souls, whether it be those in the Heavenly Realm or the Mortal Realm, will be judged. I have no dominion over the living."
The woman stopped stroking her son’s face and turned to look at the woman with displeasure.
"When you broke those same rules to interfere with the soul of that Mortal Man passing on, why did you not have that same mindset then? Now that it is my son, you wish to bring up those rules?"
The woman dressed in black did not say anything, but she sighed in her heart.
Though she had the power to interfere with souls, she and her kind were not responsible for a soul passing on. They were only created to be an observer who escorts souls to the afterlife.
As compensation, she get to keep the corpses of the persons who died. You could say she was an undertaker of some sort.
After a period of silence, Zia shot this woman in black an impatient look.
"Keres, do you want to force my hand?"
"No Older Sister."
Zia’s eyes narrowed.
"Then why are you not acting?"
Keres hesitated, but she soon sighed again and said.
"Sister, the price you will pay-"
Zia waved her hands dismissively.
"Even if my Divinity disperses, then I do not care."
"But, Sister, just for that child you would-’
Zia’s eyes flashed and Keres quickly closed her mouth.
Anger was in her heart, but she simply waved her hand towards this abomination.
With that wave, Sol’s soul which was being pulled to the afterlife, but was forcefully being trapped in his body by his mother’s power, was essentially crossed out of the list of deceased souls.
The flames of the Keres cloak lessened by a considerable margin while her body shook. Though she quickly recovered.
Zia stopped using her power and Sol’s body slowly began to turn into specs of golden light that floated toward Keres. It was absorbed into her robe and resulted in the firing burning a little more, but it was still far from how it was moments ago.
Keres said nothing but gave the golden light that was now hovering above Zia’s hand a disgusted look before vanishing.
Zia looked at where her sister left with a frown, but she chose not to pursue the matter. She instead looked down at her son’s soul and smiled.
"Don’t worry little Solly, Mother will make you a new body."
Zia wrapped her hands around the soul and drew it closer to her body. But if one looked closely, one would see her radiant golden hair diming by a bit. Even the strong fluctuations of Divinity from her wined as if it was on the brink of being snuffed out.
Unknowingly, an Empyrian Law was eating away at her as a consequence of her actions.
