Chapter 281: Chapter 281- I Think You’re Missing Something
"Dad, what is that palace?"
Mar-Dule asked while his gaze was fixated on the damaged palace.
"It’s the Heavenly Palace of ancestor Mar-Tu, he left it inside this stone monument for future generations to find."
Mar-Yue’s eyes narrowed as she asked.
"Is it a legacy?"
Before Mar-Du could answer, Mar-Dule said.
"Really? It doesn’t look like a legacy. Is it that the Blacksmithing Legacy of the Giant Race is inside it, father?"
Mar-Du paused for a moment then shook his head.
"I’m not sure if our Blacksmithing Legacy is inside, however, if it’s not then why did ancestor Mar-Tu leave his Heavenly Palace behind? He even created a terrifying concealment formation on the stone monument that resulted in us only finding it hundreds of years after his disappearance, or should I say his death?"
It sounded as if Mar-Du was trying to convince himself that the Blacksmithing Legacy was inside the palace. But his latter words that were said bitterly were rather foreboding.
If Mar-Tu, an existence hailed as one of the strongest beings when those Deities existed, was dead, then the story about the Deities’ disappearance was a lie. They didn’t disappear but they were dead.
But if they were dead, how did they die?
What killed Mar-Tu and forced him to leave behind his Heavenly Palace in what seemed to almost be in a hurry?
And a question that would be even more terrifying to find out the answer to, was who, or what could have killed those Deities?
"When the separate space was found, past Tribe Leaders had sacrificed a great deal to find this Heavenly Palace, but even after finding it, this terrifying Death Energy was seeping out of it. So, a tradition was passed down. Those who were at the end of their life would venture into the Heavenly Palace to search inside, however, to this day no one was able to leave once they entered. And over time this just caused the Death Energy to steadily increase so the tradition ended with my father."
After Mar-Du solemnly said this, he turned to Abdu on top of Sol’s head and said.
"Senior, I hope you will be able to venture inside and find out why Ancestor Mar-Tu left behind his Heavenly Palace for us."
Abdu nodded, then leaped from Sol’s head. As he landed on the ground black Death Energy sprang from his body to obscure his figure.
However, this Death Energy felt extremely different from the one inside this separate space. Compared to the one in this separate space that felt chaotic, like it could corrupt anything alive, Abdu’s Death Energy felt tamed and less destructive.
Soon, the Death Energy around Abdu shifted to form the outline of a human before fading away.
What was revealed was Abdu in his human form.
He looked around the same age as Sol, but a head shorter with ghostly pale skin and pitch-black hair. He was wearing full black ancient robes fit for royalty as seen from the golden embroidery of dragons on the sleeves and hems.
However, what broke the illusion of this human form was the two black cat ears that protruded from his hair.
Sol glanced at Abdu with extreme curiosity. So much so, Abdu had to push him away from him getting too close.
"Look for as long as you want, because I won’t be in this form often as it puts a lot of stress on my injuries."
A disappointed look appeared on Sol’s face, but then again Abdu in his cat form wasn’t so bad.
Sol reached up to touch Abdu’s cat ears, but the latter swatted his hand away and glared at him.
Sol scratched his cheek and smiled sheepishly, but he suddenly spotted Abdu’s tail flicking about behind him and his eyes went round in surprise.
Abdu ignored Sol’s childishness as he closed his eyes.
The Death Energy returned to cover his figure, while its outline increased in height, even towering over Mar-Du who was around 6’7.
Everyone instinctively took a step back to give Abdu’s space. But their eyes never left his figure, they all wondered what he was doing.
This transformation took a little longer than the first, and after two minutes the Death Energy finally began to fade away to reveal Abdu’s new appearance.
However...
Shiver.
Before Abdu’s figure was fully revealed, a terrifying aura wafted from his body that caused everyone to feel like they were standing in front of a heaven-reaching cliff.
The feeling was so sudden it sent everyone reeling.
Even Mar-Du felt his scalp go numb and his body tense.
When he realized this, his face changed to a shocked expression.
But he quickly realized this aura was nothing more than an illusion.
Still, for a split second, he truly believed it was real.
’Not even those three old monsters have this kind of aura.’
As Mar-Du said this, Abdu’s figure was fully revealed.
He had transformed into a towering miniature giant that had tan skin and bulging muscles. But that was an extreme contrast with his facial features.
Slightly thick eyebrows, blue pupils, and an overall facial structure that makes him seem extremely amicable.
He seemed to be a person who was extremely boisterous and smiled a lot.
A friendly giant.
That was the only way the group could describe this person’s appearance.
When Mar-Du saw who Abdu transformed into, he froze and wore a thoughtful look.
Meanwhile, Sol, Mar-Yue, and Mar-Dule were both observing different features of the man with varying emotions.
Mar-Dule was looking at the man’s muscles with wonder and a bit of envy. Mar-Yue was looking at the man’s blue pupils which gave her a deep sense of familiarity.
Meanwhile, Sol was staring at the man’s forehead with confusion. There was nothing there, but that was the very reason why Sol was so confused.
"Senior, could this be our ancestor Mar-Tu?"
Mar-Du came out of his thoughts to ask.
Mar-Yue and Mar-Dule were both dumbstruck when they saw Abdu nod.
"Luckily I’ve managed to get a glimpse of him once and felt his aura."
After saying this, Abdu turned and was about to leave the protection of Mar-Du’s yellow rune.
However, Sol finally spoke up to voice his confusion.
"Wait, Little Abdu! I think you’re missing something."
