Chapter 222- Have You Gone Mad?

Chapter 222: Chapter 222- Have You Gone Mad?

"What if you don’t find the culprit?"

Gion paused but then said after a moment.

"If I don’t then Geon-Soo’s death will be placed on you. But that won’t happen, it’s not in my nature to allow an innocent person to be punished wrongly so you can be rest assured."

Gion then started to get up.

"Right now, you’ll have to stay on the Disciplinary Pavilion Mountain. I-"

"Wait."

Sol interrupted Gion.

"If I’m going to be a part of this investigation, then I’m going to be a part of it. I’d rather not leave my fate up to someone else."

"...Okay, fair enough."

Gion sat back down.

"Here are the details of the investigation so far."

Gion flipped over his palm and took out a blue jade slip before handing it to Sol.

Sol took it and quickly read the contents of the jade slip. Immediately he frowned.

"This is nothing."

The only thing on the jade slip was a bunch of names and some small details about each of them.

Gion looked annoyed at Sol’s comment.

"Do you think I can reveal everything to you? Somethings are classified."

Sol looked over the information once again before he looked at Gion and said blandly.

"You’re lying, aren’t you? This is all the information you’ve gathered."

Gion blushed a bit but defended.

"Brat, don’t question my abilities. Those are the names of the people Geon-Soo interacted with before he went into closed-door seclusion. I’ve gone through most of them already and I’ve piece together a timeline of the days leading up to his death. By the time I’m finish going through this list, I should be able to find a few suspects."

Sol shook his head.

"That’s a waste of time. It’s not like the culprit would meet Geon-Soo face-to-face before killing him."

Gion became even more annoyed with Sol.

’What’s with this brat acting like he’s some seasoned detective?’

Gion folded his hands and said.

"Okay, humor me. How would you investigate his death?"

Sol paused, before asking.

"How did he die? It doesn’t say how in here."

"Geon-Soo was killed by Aether Deviation. It was suspected someone caused it, and tried to make his death look like an accident."

"Where is his body?"

Gion shook his head.

"The Irregular Dharma Pavilion, or rather the Wudang Sect, won’t allow you to perform an inspection."

Sol frowned.

"You didn’t examine his body?"

"No."

"Then how do you know he died from Aether Deviation?"

"The Wudang Sect said that was the cause of his death."

"What? And you believe them?"

Gion frowned.

"Of course not, but that’s all we’re gonna get from them."

"You... This whole thing is a mess. How do we know for sure the Wudang Sect hasn’t caught the culprit and they’re just using this to pin the blame on me?"

Gion silently looked at Sol and then said.

"They haven’t caught the culprit yet."

"How do you know that?"

"Just a feeling. And they aren’t trying to pin this on you, Woo-Seong is the one trying to. As for their refusal to give up Geon-Soo’s body, they’re using the excuse that it’s to protect their Wudang Sect’s Core Martial Arts."

"But Geon-Soo is an illegitimate child."

"Right, so he wouldn’t have access to their Core Martial Arts. I think they’re just trying to hide how he actually died."

Sol looked at Gion who was deep in thought for a moment before he asked.

"Aren’t you a part of the Wudang Sect?"

Gion froze.

"How do you know that?"

"Just a feeling."

Gion looked at Sol silently before he chuckled and said.

"My grandfather was a high-ranking Elder of the Wudang Sect, but he died trying to make a breakthrough in seclusion. Perhaps if the other Elders hadn’t conspired against him and prevented my grandfather from obtaining help from the Clan during his breakthrough, he would still be alive. Maybe my branch of the family wouldn’t have declined to a servant role in the Clan as well."

Sol saw a hint of anger flash past Gion’s eyes when he said this.

Suddenly, Sol stood up.

"Where are you going?"

"To the Irregular Dharma Pavilion Mountain."

"What?"

Gion frowned.

"I need to see the crime scene if I want to prove I’m innocent. In truth, my mind is currently ten percent here. The other ninety percent is worrying about my friend’s health."

"What’s the use in going to the crime scene? It’s already been cleaned."

"I want to look at the layout. If Geon-Soo was truly murdered, then depending on the layout of his residence and the situation of the Irregular Dharma Pavilion, we can narrow down the possible suspects. For example, who is allowed to enter and leave his courtyard. If it wasn’t someone from the Irregular Dharma Pavilion, wouldn’t that person have to sneak into the courtyard or disguise as someone allowed to enter his residence? It would be even better if the culprit was actually someone from the Irregular Dharma Pavilion, maybe we’ll bump into that person there."

Gion looked at Sol slightly dumbfounded. He actually hadn’t thought about it like that.

Gion had to take a second look at Sol.

After a moment, he stood up and said.

"I’ll come with you."

Sol paused at the door and turned to look at him with a weird expression.

"Aren’t you busy investigating those people on that list of yours?"

Gion blushed once again.

"Fool, if you’re about then disguising to enter the courtyard theory is right, then that person would have likely met Geon-Soo to gain his trust before killing him."

Sol paused.

"You’re right, I’ll help you investigate those disciples after this."

Sol then pulled open the door and walked out.

However, immediately as he stepped out the door, a sword with a red blade came slicing at his neck.

Sol’s eyes flashed and he raised his hand to block the sword with his bracelets.

CLANG!

Sol was sent flying back into the room; crashing through the wall and onto the other side.

"WHO?!!"

Gion was enraged. Who dared attack someone outside of the Martial Hall Pagoda?

Breaking an Academy rule in front of him? This person must be looking to get beaten to a pulp!

"Gion, get the fuck out of my way. This has nothing to do with you."

The voice of a youth could be heard before a beggar stepped into the room.

No wait, why would a beggar be here?

This young man’s hair was extremely disheveled, and his robes looked like they had been hastily worn before he came here.

It took a while to recognize this person who resembled a beggar, but Gion soon realized who it was. He looked at this youth in bewilderment as he asked.

"Woo-Seong? Have you gone mad?"
