The Goddess Made A Mistake Again
Chapter 388 - 388 - Sitting One Out [ Part 2 ]

"M- Me, Sir?"

Suddenly getting pointed at so rudely, the Navigator whose job should have already been finished, stammered.

"Yes you, is there anyone else who doesn't have any reason to follow me and is still following me?" I say and everyone immediately looks at the guy.

The navigator looked at the soldiers with betrayed expression, 'I thought we were friends.'

'That was before you talked against us.'

"Well?" I ask again as the guy was staring daggers at the soldiers for no reason at all.

"Si- Sir… I- I'm here because, I- I didn't get assigned a new job so… in the mean time I thought I would follow you and help you as muc-"

"You're spying on me for Lord commander."

"What?!" The navigator stood up in shock and shook his head multiple times, "That is impossible sir! How can I ever do something so-"

"Stop lying, you're bad at it."

"I'm sorry, sir!" The navigator didn't even try to defend again and bent down to the ground. He begged, "I'm extremely sorry sir, I- I didn't really want to do it. Bu- But I couldn't refuse the commander or he would have sent me to the front-line."

Lucian looked at this and sweated as he didn't know what to do. He should be supporting Henry as a part but this was Seman. He couldn't disobey his orders, even if they were secret.

Also, he really hates Henry.

Before Lucian could open his mouth, Henry gave his verdict.

"It's alright, I won't kill you."

"Really?" The navigator peeked from the ground, "You really won't kill me, sir?"

"Of course… or do you think this face is lying to you?" I show a sarcastic grin.

Seeing it, the navigator felt his back shiver in fear and wanted to oppose. But closed his mouth and only nodded.

"Good"

"Sir…" The guy opened his mouth with great courage, "Can I continue following you?"

Lucian looked at the guy and thought whether he was courageous or foolish, to throw away his only escape route like that. Even soldiers shook their heads and clicked.

"Oh! You want to continue stalking me? Is that it?"

"N- No- No-"

"It's okay, you can continue spying on me for the commander but will say nice things about me."

"Of course, sir! I will praise you like no othe-" The spy who thought he got a golden line got interrupted.

"You know what…" I think for a second before shaking my head with a deprecate laugh, "Don't sing praises about me, tell the truth to him. Tell him everything that actually happens and not something that would make me shine to him."

"Why, sir?" The spy asked, clearly confused of letting such an opportunity go.

"I don't want false advertisements about me, definitely not to someone who's going to be my father-in-law. If I want him to praise me, then it'll be because I made him sing praises of me."

The spy and soldiers suddenly felt a powerful aura emitting from Henry. One that made their blood boil as they see Henry looking ahead as if seeing into the far future.

Even Lucian who hated Henry the most, liked his act here. What Henry did at the moment was what a real man would do.

'A real man…' Lucian looked at the palm of his own hand.

'If I want to have Margaret's heart, then I need to act like a real man too… but what should I do?'

"Lucian!"

Lucian heard Henry's sharp voice calling him and asked, "What is it?"

"What's wrong with you? I've called you a few times but you've been looking at your hands… what is it, are all your chicken pieces gone?" I said and gesture at the soldiers, "If you guys have some left, give it to him. Seems like he went into food depression."

"No… no." Lucian said to both Henry and the soldiers who actually tried to give him some, "I- I was just thinking about something."

"Chicken"

"Something Important!"

"So… leg?" I show him my half eaten chicken leg and smile at his twitching eye, "Forget about it and tell me already."

"What?"

"If Klein's going to win or not?"

Lucian took Henry's question a moment before walking a few steps ahead and gazing into the battlefield.

The field hadn't changed much in the time they've spent talking. The soldiers were slowly approaching the base with shields 50° over their heads, occasionally firing a sigmat spell when finding an opening but not truly doing much damage.

Lucian frowned slightly, "By how it's looking, Klein's army seems like they are at disadvantage and probably they are too. But I also know that out of all the captains under Lord Seman's command, Captain Klein is the most intelligent one I know."

"I have heard him turn disadvantageous moments into his own offense and tricked enemies so cleverly that anybody who knows of him, fears to face him in battle."

"Yet with all of his praises you're spewing," I stop him from continuing more, "You haven't told me your answer yet, is it Yes or No?"

"Yes, I believe he will win thi-" Suddenly seeing explosions happening on the field, Lucian wavered.

On the battlefield

Seeing the soldiers grit to stay alive after countless attacks. The bandits hiding inside the base grew angry of it and started their real attack.

The shield from the base dropped to a transcendent hue as a few large fireballs floated in the sky before flying towards the soldiers.

Once it hit their target, it bloomed into a fiery explosion that occurred on multiple parts of the field.

As more such attacks came, Klein finally nodded towards his second.

Oppet bellowed and immediately shouted, "Retreat!"

An order, which sounded a tremendous blow to any army was heard on by the field soldiers. Though, they sighed in relief and backed away, wanted to escape from the firebombs.

"They're retreating…?" Lucian asked dubiously.

He wasn't the only one, the others felt it too. The loss of a battle, something that would inevitably happen but one wouldn't want on themselves.

"So I guess… Captain Klein's is going to lose the battle then…"

"That would be the visible option," I interrupt, "But I believe he's going to win this one."

"What?" Lucian looked at me with brows raised, "Klein's losses are getting big and he's men are already retreating so how in hell is he going to win?"

I turn to him with a grin, "Losses… what are you talking about, man?"

Seeing that they have changed the total phase of the field, the enemy's courage went sky high. They turned down their shields even further and focused it on firing off more bombs.

"My fellow brothers, the Religias fuckers are retreating, show them true fighting spirit!"

The bandits on the ground abandoned their position and went to attack the retreating soldiers. But they didn't factor one thing, the soldiers were retreating suspiciously slowly.

Seeing the archers on the fields and the shields down, Klein spoke, "It's time for Plan B."

Oppet smiled and turned around, "Team B, show your magic."

The backup soldiers or Team B, was mostly made up of mages. Mages meaning soldiers who focused solely sigmat attacks.

Team B wore less armor heavy clothes and more flexible ones as they raised their hands, "You ready guys?"

"Why wouldn't we be?"

Above them, multiple electric projections appeared of what Henry may call a 'Railgun'.

The Railguns conjured a lot of power and aimed at the enemy base, whom now noticed that they had taken down all their defenses.

But it was too late as with Klein's nod, the Railguns made multiple shots at the now, defenseless base.

"Boom!" "Boom!"
