Chapter 281: 5.03.4 Time to clean up.

Was it that same beauty? I mean that famous Knight Captain Remira?

No, it wasn’t the one I had been expecting all this while, but someone else. Someone that I knew of due to certain someone. And not to be convoluted, but that certain someone is the most confusing one.

Not to mention, I finally understand who Rashid was here for.

’My job is done.’ Although that woman had nothing to do with me, nor did I have any intentions of meeting her. It didn’t mean I was not happy to see her.

No one in their right mind would deny a beautiful woman, not in a million years.

As for our old Professor Kaarath, who acted as her servant, closer to a guide that showed her around the city, he seems oblivious to the woman he led with him. It was that old man’s way of entertaining her, while a giant figure followed them in the open, whose sole job was protecting the lady and keeping the hawkers away from her.

"Professor can smile?" Some of the students were smiling as if they found their teacher in an embarrassing position, but I did not. I can see him sweating, and Rashid, with his skills, should have noticed this detail as well.

’Professor might not know who she is, but he must have some inkling... or it’s just the bodyguard, keeping an eye on him.’ Professor was a mortal, or so he appeared to be considering how he was able to converse with such a colossal figure.

For no simple man can get close to him unless someone orders him, someone he can’t refuse. Then there is the angle of ignorance.

Ignorant of who he was showing around the city, and his fear was only due to the bodyguard.

’What a complicated situation.’

I need to inform my boss of the details here. I need to leave this group fast.

But it would seem, someone else was already in the mood to leave. "Something came up, I will leave for now." The act began with one of Rashid’s servants coming and then whispering something in his ears, which gave him an excuse to leave the scene.

And if I were to follow up on his excuse, and leave as well, Rashid might get suspicious, so I was forced to stay among these hormonal fools who didn’t know common etiquettes when admiring a beauty.

’Hide you fools.’ With those words, I went back to my seat and the beauty also disappeared among the crowd with our professor.

There was envy in the eyes of these fools, followed by jealousy, where they wondered how an old bastard like their professor got the chance to talk to such a beauty.

As for how the beauty looked, as I had seen before, it didn’t take long for them to forget about her as well.

"??" Confusion, followed by horror.

All of them were horrified to learn that the face of the woman had turned into a blur, even the ones who claimed that they would never forget her, tried their hardest, but nothing formed up in their head. No picture or how that person looked.

Not even the color of their clothes.

The only thing that they can remember was that they saw someone immensely beautiful that took their breath away.

’Fascinating, a being of that level entered such a small town? I wonder why.’

I can only wonder for a bit, while Henry and others remain silent through their meal after the realization that the beauty that sparked their hearts was not so simple. It might be a ghost, a wraith, or even worse. One of those filthy beings that their parents had told them about.

"Guess we know why Rashid’s bodyguard took him away." One of the boys said this, before sighing and leaving the scene, followed by others, as their enthusiasm has turned into fear after having this bizarre experience.

All of them formed up pairs while leaving, including Henry, who went with another friend, and I tagged along with another whose home was closest to mine. And to keep up the act, did as others and left with them.

"The Beast of Wonder, loved by all and a pursuer of gods."

"The traveling Beast of Yesteryear, he who appears to lost gods in their time of need."

"The Lost Lamb of night, whose wool was used to create the garb of the Compassionate God."

"Too much... there is just too much." Too much information. So much that it was becoming harder to keep track of.

Although most of this information might be false or exaggerated, there was still a certain level of truth hidden in it.

’A totem-level figure appears in their time of need?’ Totems were daemon-level figures that didn’t belong to the intelligent races. Their path of progress was mystical and not systematic, almost as if they were born to be great.

But this was their limit as well, due to the special circumstances they were born in, it was impossible for them to ever achieve godhood. Making them mere servants of true gods at the end.

And from what Kanha had learned, to a god, A daemon is a slightly stronger insect, when compared to humans. Nothing more.

So how could a daemon help a god?

"Appears in time of need and was the mount of the Root and Fertility."

Never would have Kanha expected that such a small low-level bloodline that was common in a small city like Phuket would have such background when looked deeply enough. ’A purposefully hidden bloodline?’

It was purposefully hidden by the Root and Fertility church, while they still spread its bloodline among the needy masses who wanted it, of course, at a price.

’Why would they do such a thing?’ It would seem he had caught onto something bizarre, something way out of his league, so he sent a report over Baldar’s table, who was currently having a conversation with a young dwarf.

"How do you know her?"

"A fellow friend?"

"Don’t lie to me Crow... this is not something the likes of you should even be aware about. And I know that the Master is not the kind to make such slips in front of you... so answer truthfully, how do you know her identity?"

"There is no lie in my words, if there was, may I be struck down..."

"Enough, I will confirm if you speak of the truth soon enough." Baldar shut him off, before asking him to sit on his table and then asking. " Speak more, why do you think Rashid was looking for her?"

"No, how did he even learn of her?"

"How would I know, I am nothing more than an eye, whose sole job is to look at him. One of the many... I even wonder why you forced me to work such a boring job when I had so much to give to this world." Crow was not alone in doing this boring job, there were more than a few I had been made aware of.

Sometimes intentional on their end, sometimes, out of accidents as we both tried the same trick to keep a look over Rashid.

It was a bit fun, but then again, this showed that there were better operatives active on this case, besides me.

"The only thing you can give this world is more misery and frustration. So just focus on what you are doing and don’t get distracted." Baldar was not in a good mood today, not after how his conversation with Jester went. "For the moment, put a break on your mission, but still live out your school days as usual. We will update you on the situation and send you new objectives, once we analyze all the information we have."

With those words, Crow was sent away. He was not given any reward as Baldar had promised before, nor did crow recieve any words of approval. He was just thrown away to the side, while Baldar turned silent and tried to calm his chaotic mind for a bit.

But there was no peace in the office. "Sir, I have compiled all the details on the origins and nature of the Wandering Lamb’s bloodline..."

Scratching his ear a bit, Baldar opened his eyes and gestured to him to go away with his finger, while saying. "I will see to it, leave for now." Before he went back deep into his thoughts.

’It’s as I had feared, the boy was here for her.’

In his eyes, it would have been better if the boy was here for Remira, although his old friend Sheva stayed beside Remira. From the reports, he can ascertain that Remira is not the kind to harm innocents or use any form of human shield.

So even if Rashid intended any harm towards her, none of it would reach Sheva, making that scenario much better than the current one.

As Baldar can understand, the enemies were somewhat aware of their movements. The movements of greater beings that had taken refuge in their land.

Otherwise, how could a mere high schooler be aware of her and know that she would soon visit this town?

A fact that even he was not aware of a few days ago.

’This place can’t be considered safe anymore, it could be compromised.’ The enemies somewhat had an edge, or at least that’s how it looked in Baldar’s eyes.

’Half the mystery over Rashid’s goal is out, so this mission is partially complete.’

"No, the situation is too severe. I can’t let Rashid act freely anymore."

It was time to take the boy out. Any more and he can turn into liability, or even danger.’
