Chapter 277: 5.02.4 We can’t leave.

And it didn’t take long for me to learn of this old man’s background.

’A stuck-up bastard, is it?’ An old man who was employed under some odd circumstances which the students were not privy to. As for why it was odd, it was because he never taught the students anything.

He was just here as a teacher in name only. He just took the money that came from his position, while doing nothing.

Of course, that was the belief until he started to teach in classes where for one reason or another, a teacher couldn’t teach for a day. Which showed his highly learned side capable of teaching virtually any subject that falls in his lap.

Though, if that was all, he would be much more beloved and appreciated for his talents. But the students held no such appreciation for this old fella, for he, as I said before, was a stuck-up bastard who followed an almost militaristic method of teaching.

None dared to make a sound in his class, none dared to even show any emotion, as no one wanted to fall victim to this old man’s gaze.

One one wanted to come to his attention.

"Second row from the fourth seat, come to the board and write down all the permutations you can find of this question."

’Oh fuck!’ Guess, what they said about the old guy was true. I should have turned my head to look at Henry just now.

******

After failing to find a proper solution, I was given double the homework than usual and then some minus marking over my total grades in the class.

This made me wonder, if he was allowed to do that as exams haven’t even begun yet, how can he already deduct points? But complaining was probably useless. As I can already see, the superintendent that came in the morning to introduce that old man to the class held Professor Kaarath in high esteem.

He won’t do a thing if I were to complain. And not like I cared for the marks anyways. I might not even stay here for long with how things were going to go.

...

But it didn’t mean I won’t do my homework. Better safe than sorry.

"The fish market, is it?" Henry asked me again and I nodded.

Currently there were around four other students beside Henry in our group, making it so that almost every Knight Student from the current semester has joined us in this pursuit, with only exception of some prestigious students and Rashid, who never appeared in the class today.

A bit odd to say the least and it made Henry feel bad, as he blamed himself for Rashid’s absence. Though, it was highly unlikely, considering that Rashid was interested in Remira and the man he sent to stalk me should have also seen Remira and Sheva.

So he was probably out and about, looking for the woman himself.

Although I didn’t know why Rashid would be interested in Remira, or how he would even know who Remira was. I did know where he would be looking for her.

Which was right on point, considering our small group did come across Rashid while he was roaming the Fish market with one of his Men.

Though with my gaze and experience, there were others not too far from Rashid keeping an eye on him.

’Divided, but working together... Worse than the ones in Bothal.’ Their work seemed sloppy in my eyes, almost immature when compared to the informers and spies I had to hide from in Bothal.

They were new to this kind of work. Which might also explain why the woman that follows and keeps an eye on me was able to warn me through the bug in my ear.

She is way better in comparison to these men.

"You... why are you here?" Henry askedin surprise, who was left speechless seeing our group around here. Before his face turned red.

"Just buying some fish, nothing more." An excuse, which would not work, as the other students around him started to make fun of Rashid, before one of them spoke. "I am also looking for some good fish, did you find any till now?"

Rashid knew he was caught, while I acted confused and put on an act of surprise and asked. "Did you also see them here?"

I asked in an innocent way, that made it sound that I was looking for some form of confirmation from Rashid.

But he just shook his head. "I don’t know what you guys think I am doing here, but it’s not about the girls that Henry spoke about. Do you think my butler would allow me to do such things out in the open?"

"Butler?... I almost forgot you belong to the nobility."

"He is much better than those leeches."

"I appreciate you think of me differently than them, but I am really busy at the moment., You guys can go search for the girls. I will be doing my own thing for the moment."

Lies. I knew what was going on here and I didn’t believe in coincidence. But asking questions that would put Rashid in a tough spot would make things harder for me.

So I just let Rashid and Henry talk among themselves about their fight and then when everything seemed fine with both of them, our group started the journey of looking for the beautiful woman and her bodyguard.

Which in truth was more of an excuse to waste time together. As this was a fish market, it wasn’t hard to find some cheap seafood stalls on the roadsides. And although I did attract some weird gazes while drinking some cold beer, I ignored these cunts.

Us Dwarves can handle our alcohol since we are nine years old and it is legal for us to drink it from fourteen years of age.

"Can’t you just give some to us?" One of them asked, but I just shook my head. "You know how long it’s been for me... hah you won’t understand." I refused to give it to someone else, not to mention, this was my first time drinking Alcohol, although it was allowed for dwarfs. As for the reason, it was my strict parents, who wished for me to be a scholar rather than another drunk bastard.

’An update?’ Remira thought, looking at the letter that was slid under her door.

The Radiant Eye’s were active virtually everywhere in the world, even in places where Radiant Church was banned and it was an issue that no one country could solve as most of these eyes were mortals with actual normal life, making it harder for one to know who was and not an active eye.

’The dwarf boy came with his friends, and there were some others who were looking for us?’ There were a lot more details written down below, which explained the kind of men and students that came to look for her, including the identity of one of them being some noble, whose identity was taking some time to learn about.

"What do you think your old friend is planning?" Remira questioned Sheva, who was the only one to interact with the boy to her knowledge.

But Sheva just shook her head. "Our interactions were too little for me to understand what was in his mind. The only thing I can say for sure is that most of his actions are driven by his adventurous spirit. It’s why he used to run away from home, when his father was still alive."

"Adventurous spirit? He dragged a bunch of students into this, obviously intending to use them as some sort of shield."

"I can’t say for certain what he is planning, but it doesn’t seem he was leading the group or anything. And there was already a group looking for you when the students entered the market." Sheva pointed out the logical fallacy of Remira, which truly shut her up.

’Something odd is going on.’ Then she recalled the second person from their meeting, the one she scared off with a look.

’There is someone else looking for us?’

She had originally thought the stalker was more of Jester’s man, who was keeping an eye on the boy.

But now that she has such an odd interaction in the report, it doesn’t seem that way.

"This place is dangerous... we have to leave." Sheva made a suggestion. Half of it driven by her fondness for Crow, and half of it driven by her desire to leave her old city. And this time, she just got the excuse that might just work.

But Remira put her off. "This whole country is dangerous to me, as well as you, considering they saw you with me."

"We stay, for now..."

It was around night when Kaarath came back from his work with a small parcel in his hand.

It was his dinner, along with some books that he borrowed from ’His’ Library.

But before he could open his door, a figure materialized from the darkness behind him. Startling the old man, before he asked with some curiosity.

"Who is this?"

"A mutual friend."
