Chapter 278: 5.03.1The Three forms of Knight Progression.
The feeling of cold dirt touching my feet was somewhat enthralling today. Was it because I was going to experience a growth spurt like before when I had originally woken up from the ritual?
I don’t think so, it was not due to such a simple reason.
’Ah, I am tired.’ Such an odd feeling. For this was not physical tiredness which has was used to, but a mental one.
’It was a fun day.’ A unique experience in my eyes as the friends I did have at my old school rarely conversed with me due to the bizarre actions that I did in pursuit of my personal entertainment. "Hah... if only this experience can be repeated again and again."
Today was truly a great day for me. As for one part, I did succeed in doing what I had originally intended to do, while also going together with friends and fucking around.
’Ah, my friends.’ I laughed for a bit.
It’s odd, that I would consider someone a friend so fast that I didn’t even know the names of half of them.
******
With that little play of mine, I went back to my regular schedule, getting closer to Henry and his group, and somewhat close to Rashid, who was back in school and had made up with Henry.
I became part of their friends circle and the rumors also died down as I started to become more open as weeks went by while being part of Henry’s group.
No one in their right mind would believe a bully anyway, and Henry, although a fool, was someone considered to be the life of the class due to his charisma.
And yes, I hated the fact that the fool was good at making friends so much so that there were already some girls eying him, while he still had a girlfriend.
This was life, this was pain.
However, the only fun thing while I was depressed with this realization was my visit to the zoo and watching Chiki get used to his new home.
"You did some good for the last three weeks." I looked at the boss, who seemed colder than before. There were even some new scratches on the table that I hadn’t seen before. But what was going on in my boss’s life had no interest in me. "Considering the Boss called me here, it would mean they are out?"
"Correct, Knight Remira as well as her entourage have finally left the city. As for their destination, we can’t say for certain at the moment."
"Hah, So fast?" The disappointment was hard to hide in front of Boss’s eyes and he seemed to read to me to some extent.
"Your second visit to the fish market was not some random stunt, was it?" He wondered and I just laughed. "I wanted some action, and that’s it." his eyes resembled the darkness of the filth in sewers, while he eyed me in anger. "No harm done though. She didn’t bother me at all and I did get close to the ambassador’s son, as it was requested."
"On that front, you have done a good thing." Calming down, Boss went back to the topic. "You will be rewarded for that effort as well."
"Rewards?" It was just making friends with a dangerous liar, who hid his true strength, nothing more. Why would I be rewarded, as that guy was friendly enough to get along with the majority of the class? The first two weeks he didn’t bother becoming friends with me was probably due to me being new.
Or so I have come to conclude. And considering how Boss’s had eyes virtually everywhere in the city. It would be bizarre if he didn’t know of this fact.
Which meant. "Just say it, boss, what is the reward and what is it that I have to do in return."
"If possible, try to learn why Rashid had been interested in those two women and how come he got to learn of them."
"Just a horny teen, nothing more. As for your other question, he learned of it from Henry, as I have spoken before."
"Crow, we both know that is not the truth." Boss spoke in a cold tone, before saying. "Don’t forget why you were meant to get closer to him. We have to know why he was here."
"And if it turns out he was here for those two, why and how did he predict their arrival here months before anything happened."
"..."
"Coincidence?"
"There are no coincidences in this world, we both know what kind of being is capable of such a feat."
I was left speechless at this point. This man wishes to put me in a tough spot no matter what I do.
How could I get the answer out of Rashid’s head? Even the boss of Boss, that Jester fella was incapable of entering Rashid’s mind, showing that something powerful or important resided there to warrant such protection.
"Its not like you have to do it, this is not such an important mission to begin with, as there are more covert eyes following Rashid’s every move. With you being an asset that could ask him things directly."
"So produce results if you can. Depending on which, we might reward you with stuff like this." With those words, a single vial was placed on the table.
"What is this?" I asked, looking at the dark swirling liquid, which somewhat felt familiar. "Consider it as a poison, if you are a normal human with traces of bloodline in your body, there is a chance it would awaken it."
"And in the case of already awakened individuals, first-time consumption might have a chance for bloodline elevation."
Although the words of the boss sounded flowery to some extent, I couldn’t help but feel that the potion in front of me was somewhat evil and disgusting. Making me really aware that I might be working with the bad guys in those novels.
It’s not like a forceful awakening or bloodline elevation was a new thing, there had been countless techniques throughout centuries including multiple rituals and baptism techniques which had a similar effect.
But all of that required loads of preparation, not a single vial.
"There should be some problem with it, otherwise It won’t make sense for such a good thing to exist."
"Correct, there is a sacrifice." Boss nodded at my words, before shaking his head. "Sadly, my qualifications are not high enough to know what those are."
"What I do know is that we make these 10 per year and that is the limit. Each bottle sold for millions of Dirium in Cynark."
"Hah, seriously?" I smiled and then sag praises of my boss, saying how handsome and sexy he was with his dark eyes. Before I took the potion and left the safe house.
’He really takes me for a fool.’ I had no intention of using this, no matter how good it was.
For one, I had no interest in thickening my bloodline, that was for the untalented people who had no hopes of achieving anything on their own.
Not to mention, the path of bloodline elevation was not that great, to begin with if one wishes to ascend to higher heights.
As for the reasons for it, it was really simple.
For Knights, there are a total of three methods of gaining strength.
First was the simplest, Bloodline elevation, which focused on increasing the quantity and quality of ascended blood in your body, bringing one closer to their origin or blood donor.
Second was not so simple, but was the most common, where one trains through normal methods and elevates their body through training and potions all in an attempt to extract potential that is already inside one’s body. To them, the bloodline is just the key to the world of transcendent, they don’t completely depend on the bloodline for their strength.
The third was the rarest and hardest one to do. Just from the fact that you can’t control or have a say in this one. It was termed the ’Blessed’, these individuals were prizes of their totems or gods, loved by them so much that they were gifted their strength without much effort.
Cowards in my eyes and most hateable. They achieved strength without any effort on their end.

"The dwarf kid stopped with his games, but that boy is still looking for me." Of course, Remira hasn’t left.
For one, this was close to port and hence was the best place to be in case she had to escape from Jester’s clutches.
As for the lie she spread in the city that she ran away?
She just used stand-ins from the Radiant Eyes, who acted as a distraction and left the city in her place creating the illusion that she was not here anymore.
An illusion that would only work for a few weeks at most before she is exposed.
But that was enough time to learn what this boy named Rashid wanted. He kept looking for her signs, even buying some mercenaries and making them look for her.
Which made things harder for her.
She was here for a single purpose, and that can’t be achieved unless this nuisance is removed first.
Or at least, she learns who this boy is and why he is doing this.
