The God of Jesters -
Chapter 266 - 4.11.4 Danger danger.
Chapter 266: 4.11.4 Danger danger.
There were things that couldn’t be explained, and among those things included Remira’s own past as well as her recent adventures. But it didn’t mean she wouldn’t help the dwarves. No, the more people that know the danger that Jester possessed, the better it would be for her.
As it would mean a greater number of supporters against an annoying enemy.
And Jester was annoying. Weak as he might be, on his own, he never posed danger, as, at the end of the day, the most he could control were a bunch of critters to interact with the real world. Even his conversations needed the dream as a medium.
Truly a weak creature on his own.
But as always, the problem comes from his little collaborations, where like a devil, procures good seeds for his plans. Pawns that do his bidding willfully or while being ignorant of it.
And the worst part, no one knows that he is working in the shadows until it’s too late.
Just like what happened here.
’They took the two injured ones, instead of the woman.’ Remira was not blind to such facts, she knew that the injured man and the dwarf were probably important to Jester in a way. As for how much, she can’t ascertain this as of yet.
That is until Sheva wakes up and speaks some truth.
"Nothing." Red knew that he was not going to get anything at this point. Albeit Remira still picked some scent with her nose. But for now, she can’t act out wildly as before.
There were too many eyes at the moment. After facing Jester all this while, Remira understood that any scent could be a distraction. Farhad seemed to have done so before, or the people that were with Farhad.
While having such thoughts, multiple flares were shot up into the sky, attracting Remira’s and Red’s attention. "They are here."
The Military was here.
Requesting Remira to follow him, Red led her to the village which was being filled with National Security Forces, whose main purpose was to deal with disputes inside the country’s border.
And their equipment respectively showed this to everyone.

Sheva had woken up not too long ago.
No, she had been awake for a while now but had decided to keep the act of her comatose self for her own self-preservation.
She knows she had fallen into gutters, and not the one from Bothal.
She is now at the mercy of her enemy, and she needs to collect enough information in her hand as well as head, to formulate a plan to escape, or at least ask for leniency.
And how to achieve that?
The answer was already in Sheva’s mind, and due to the help of Jara, the contract she received was not as vicious as others suffered from. She could even speak some truths that might be delectable to others.
Including Jester’s allegiance and where it all started. Which was nothing more than pushing the blame on the Republic, her home country.
But truth be told, she held little to no compassion for her country at all.
To her, that country has just exploited people like her by using the excuse of Cynark for a long time.
She had fought for them, bled for them, and lost so much. But all she got as a result was just a small pension after she had lost virtually everything.
So why not give them some misery, while saving her own skin?
But no, she was not so cruel, being a victim of a war, she knows that the dead don’t know the suffering of the living. She only suffered because she lost her parents to the war, and if her words were to cause another one, she knows that only misery will remain for those who would lose their families in the war. And mostly the ones that are responsible for earning a living.
So no, she won’t blame her country. She won’t do such a thing.
So what is left?
What can she do?
’Is there nothing left besides speaking about him?’ There were two faces in her head, one was that of Max, who is close to his death and the other was that of Jara, who is probably dead in her eyes as well as Remira’s understanding.
’No, would I even have a choice to choose what to speak?’ A thought appeared in Sheva’s mind, she knew. She knows the future that awaits her.
She might not know what the Radiant Knights might do with her, due to her lack of knowledge. But she knows what Red, a CBI officer, might have planned for her. A person that even a Radiant Knight had to relent in front of.
That was the national power against an individual and their organization, and no matter how small that country was in front of that organization. The country had full rights to do whatever it wished, including taking the prisoners of others into their own custody.
And it’s not hard to fathom what a CBI officer might do with her.
’Tongue?’ She wondered biting her tongue, all in an effort to die fast.
Death would be better than anything in this tight scenario. Anything would be better. ’I need to time it properly, can’t let that knight notice it.’
She made up her mind in an instant as well. Her living this far was already a miracle and she hoped that Jara would fulfill her dream of a proper orphanage in her place.
’I hope you at least meet your daughter, Max.’ She prayed for the last time and then bit her tongue. While holding her pain as well as the slight discomfort she felt.
’It’s warm?’ She thought, tasking the iron blood of hers, which slowly entered her stomach. She is not going to let a single drop splash outside.
Death is better than the future that awaits her.
A choice that Baldar was unaware of. Because if he knew, he might have rushed here in anger.
No such luck as even Jester has left the scene, making him completely blind to Sheva’s current state.
However, there was someone who could help Sheva at the moment and someone who knew her state like the back of her hand.
"Blood?" She smelled it, the disgusting smell of fresh blood coming from Sheva’s nose. "This." She stopped and put Sheva on the ground in a hurry, before using her fingers to open her mouth.
A mouth that flowed with blood.
"She tried to kill herself?" Red was not amused at such a scene. He wondered what Remira had been doing, letting this woman die so early will doom them with ignorance. She was the key to understanding what happened a month ago and what she was doing here.
He wanted to know who was behind all these incidents and she was the key to all of that.
"Stop..." Suddenly Sheva struggled, trying to close her mouth, but the struggle of a mortal was nothing to Remira, who just stared at this Sheva and said. "Your lover died while earning you a chance to live longer..., are you going to throw it away so easily?"
At these words, Sheva’s struggle came to a pause. "Wha...?" She tried to speak, but the blood was just too much. And Remira also knew that if nothing was done in time, she might really die.
"Take this. ’’ On the other hand, Red took out a healing potion and tried to hand it over to Remira, who refused as her finger flared up with white flames. "It might hurt." She said, before putting her finger over Sheva’s injured tongue and cauterizing the injury. Burning her mouth in the process.
But this was enough. "She might try the same thing again," Red said, knowing that the situation was still not stabilized. No, from the look in her eyes, this prisoner of theirs seemed hollow at the moment.
It was as if the soul had left her body, causing her to possess a blank stare, where she was still struggling to digest what she just heard.
’She might do it again at this point.’ Red knew, so he took out his handkerchief and poured some potion over it. "Stuff it in her mouth."
He was not foolish enough to ignore such little slights of people weaker than him. He never looked down on them, no matter how weak they appeared on the surface.
And it was for that purpose, he had learned enough to understand what kind of thoughts his enemies might have and the decision they might make under duress.
Among these, one of the most common was a suicide attempt.
It was due to all those experiences, Red calmly knew how to deal with such a situation.
"You are a real fool." Remira didn’t know why this woman would take such a drastic action. But what has happened has happened.
It was also then, that the sound of an army jeep reached their ears.
"They must have found us," Red spoke, before taking out his badge.
