Chapter 265: 4.11.3 Should have taken the Transfer.
Hope was all I could make, as I knew that she would soon be facing the biggest struggle in her life.
As in the worst-case scenario, even if she tells them everything, she would still end up torturing her, just to ensure the validity of her words.
But that in itself was bad, considering where she comes from.
Although she was ignorant of my true identity, the man Baldar worked for. Her identity was still that of a Citizen of the Republic of Yethel and not just any normal citizen.
She is someone who was trained to use sniper, obviously meaning that she was no normal citizen, a soldier perhaps, a good one.
So no matter what happened, the trouble might fall on Yethel and in turn me.
But this was to be expected, I can’t dispose of her, not when Baldar has started to value than I expected. Well, not until he forgets everything about her.
Which doesn’t seem like such a far-off future, considering from his words alone that his demonification eats away at his original happy memories. The very memories which were his happiest as Sheva was in all of them.
So it was a give-and-take situation.
I can’t do much in this case, while hoping that Remira did something for her instead.
As for Sheva shaking hands with Remira and coming after me after all of this is over?
A high chance of that happening, I am not going to lie. Remira already holds a grudge against me, and considering that in Remira’s eyes, Baldar, or Jara specifically died under the effect of the contract, Sheva might take it as I killed him and make up her mind to hunt me.
A fun concept in itself. But I don’t wish to be a victim of their hunts.
And it’s not because she posed any danger to me. A mortal like her was nothing more than an insect in my eyes. If it’s in my cage, I would pet it, feed it, and look after its every need.
But the moment it escapes that cage, it’s nothing more than a bug that needs to be squashed due to how disgusting and boring it is.
The same was the case of Sheva, if she were to come after me.
’Just hope Baldar forgets about her by that time.’
But I know, considering the amount of bad luck I have suffered from, things will go awry no matter what I wish for.
Just like that foolish Owl, eyeing her from a distance, wishing to end her life due to the agony she caused him inadvertently. Should I stop him?
No, if he is so foolish enough to give himself away just to exact a simple revenge, then there is no value in nurturing him. As a leader, you can be influenced by your emotions to a certain extent alone but never be swayed by them.
One shouldn’t forget the main goal of one’s life.
And that is to be entertained.
Killing Sheva at this point would achieve nothing at this point besides making the future boring for oneself.
Not to mention, if he were to go ahead and do something so stupid, I would have to stop him just due to Baldar’s feelings.
But there really was nothing to fear, as after a bit. Owl was able to calm his heart down and saw that Remira carrying Sheva on her back had left the scene with Red in a direction that he was awfully familiar with.
Owl knew that it was time to leave.
Of course, even moving in the opposite direction didn’t make his journey any easy to the true safe house where the rest were staying. The Experts from the Gutters were already running around in search of weird elements to make contributions.
And with the Military appearing, things became much worse.
But if that were to stifle Owl, then he wouldn’t be the leader of Team One for nothing.
He used some eccentric tactics in this situation, which left some traces of his talisman all over the forest, startling those who found them, but he succeeded in his job.
A job that had to be done, no matter what.

"A report, at this hour?" The Radiant Knights Headquarters in Bothal had been busy these days.
For one, ignoring their regular scuffle with the Church of Red Sun, the Void event had put some pressure on them.
There were questions about where the Radiant Knights were, and how unaware of such danger. Did their infamous ability to track curses just a lie conjured up to make them seem special?
Why were they even allowed in the city while they do nothing besides sitting in their asses all day?
Of course, the answer to all of that is that they were suppressed in the dark by the Company. Just like the Guardian of the merchants, Lady of Gold. They were scrutinized and put under loads of bureaucracy, limiting their active areas, and there were loads of other churches that were given their own zones to handle.
The Radiant Knights were unable to do much in areas outside of their jurisdiction.
All of which mattered not, when the ignorant public started to make their own opinion without ever knowing the details.
But it was not like the Radiant Knight was the only one suffering, all organizations had suffered the same and had been overworking the past month to make up for their slight incompetence that led to the misery of millions in the city.
Most of this work focused on a particular area, that was hit the hardest.
And it was none other than the Golden Hen of Bothal, its Business district, which in general not only catered to the daily goods and services. But there were many more things that the public was not aware of.
Including the mercenary den and the sales and transportation of weapons, which were inaccessible to the general public.
All of it is done under the protection of the Lady of Gold, the Ruler of the Business District who ensures that the civility in such an important place has been maintained.
"It’s a village around forty kilometers away from the city toward the West, something odd happened and they said, one of our Knights sent out a warning signal."
"Our Knights? Who is active in that area?"
"None for the moment, most are focused on dealing with issues that popped up in the Business District and have been recalled to the city. So we can’t be certain it’s someone that belongs to our Chapter."
"Or high chance, it won’t be one of our Knights to begin with."
"Don’t speak out of line for now, we can’t be certain who it is unless we can confirm it." The Director of the Radiant Knight’s Bothal Chapter, paused for a bit, before asking. "If it’s not one of ours, then it could be someone from some other Chapter. Phone and send them the details."
With those words, the stout dwarf covered from head to toe in hair stood up and started to wear his clothes. "Sir, are you going there personally?’
"Yes... it’s the time we can’t afford any mistakes. You just do as I told you. I will go and confirm who this person is."
He was already under too much pressure and had suffered too much humiliation by his fellow Dwarfs. But this was to be expected, this is what life in a free city like Bothal is, where there are no government grants to keep their organizations afloat. After the last law was passed which cut short their tax exemption status as a punishment for their incompetence, the little salary they got for their job has turned less than before.
Turning the Director’s mood worse than normal.
It was why, when he learned that someone had created a huge drama in a village not too far off from Bothal, he was frustrated, to say the least.
He needs to go there. He needs to go there and deal with the problem before the fanatical bastards from the Church of Red Sun reach that place, along with their so-called "Guests".
’I should have taken the transfer.’

Remira had to move, she couldn’t stay there for longer while waiting for Sheva to wake up. Not to mention, in order to ensure that this man called "Red" was not lying, she had chosen to follow him on his search.
An act mostly, as she had an inkling that the trace of that dwarf would have long disappeared. And she was right to some extent.
With some traces of battle left from before, there was nothing here.
"So he lied about his injury?" Remira lied a bit here. She knew full well how capable that dwarf was of his escape, but she still said such words, in order to not put herself in a situation where she would be asked. "Why did you let him go?" As the explanation would be too big and she would have to speak of details that were too private for her.
