Chapter 261: 4.10.5 Questions and answers.

"What man?" Red wondered. "Where is he?" He asked while looking around.

He knew that a Radiant Knight was active in this place, a strong one at that. Who had used a very rash way of attracting his attention? But it worked and he was curious over whether it was someone he knew.

But enough of that, focusing on the job at hand, he wondered what sort of trouble the Knight might have found here and who this person this knight brought to this obviously drunk man.

"It was an ill human it seemed. Barely able to make sentences. But during all the chaos, I lost track of him in the crowd."

"God, stop with your drunk rant... wasting the time of an officer is a big offense."

"No.. No, I am not lying Chief. She really handed me a man before going toward the place where the forest fire had spread."

Seeing this drunk being so adamant, Red asked others if they could confirm his words, but all he got in return was that they saw nothing.

From the looks of it, this man is infamous for being the village drunk and is someone who is incapable of keeping a sound mind to begin with. Meaning that his words can’t be trusted.

But ignoring the smell of alcohol wafting off his body, his eyes were very much clear. As if a great shock has woken him up. "When others come here, help them with the sketch. It’s better if you can recall his figure properly." With those words, he flew right toward the forest fire.

He has to pursue the knight, or at least find a trace of her. Although they belong to different organizations, due to the closeness between the two, it’s not hard working with someone from Radiant Hall.

As for the chance of them being the cause of this disaster? There was no chance, as throughout the years, although other churches and organizations were never able to control their Knights, the descendants of the First Knight were never the kind to turn their back on the creed.

The sole organization without a single traitor through the history of this world. So the chance of a fallen Knight appearing here was rare and far from possible.

Of course, unless it was some other bloodline who had similar abilities as the Radiant Knights, or an illusion cast by a powerful mage to fool the villagers into calling for help. Help that would fall into their trap.

And there could be many different scenarios bubbling up in this village. And Red might just be going to his doom.

But he didn’t budge, he knew that staying back and waiting it out would be the move of the coward.

If he waited for the rest of the army and transcendents to come here, then who knows what might happen?

Was it even an enemy? Considering a Radiant Knight was here, there was a high chance of a strong curse being born here, or something even worse.

Well, whatever it was, he was going to find it.

That is if he could find it after the fire has burned traces of the Knight he was pursuing. But it didn’t mean he got nothing here, from the smell in the air, he knew that the fire was neither natural nor supernatural. It was born out of some kind of fuel as the smell of chemicals was strong here.

’A knight using chemicals?’ This won’t happen, so it means, she is or was pursuing someone.

As for who, he can’t tell... No, wait a minute.

’A mechanic and his apprentice were not there. A mechanic...’ He found it, the person the Knight was pursuing. ’So was the injured man that the drunk got the apprentice?’ he thought for a bit, before shaking his head. ’Different species and different ages, there are no similarities between the two, unless this mechanic was able to fool the eyes of a master-level Radiant Knight, which is next to impossible.’

His analytical mind started to come up with multiple scenarios as he made a round of the forest fire before finding some vibrations in the air coming from a distance.

There were others, a small fight or a burst of energy that appeared and disappeared in an instant. Something which he would have overlooked in Bothal, as the intensity was not so high. But when it appeared in such a moment, he couldn’t help but fly toward it.

’Who is it?’ He questioned, still not sure if the Knight survived or not.

Well, whatever it was, there was nothing wrong with some preparation, so Red covered his body in a shield, while his various runes appeared in his hand. Ready to face the opponent that might strike anytime.

But the moment he reached the position, he found a rotten body, ignoring which, he flew further before finding a knight with blazing white hair next to a woman. A woman who was too tall to be considered a normal human.

And someone he was awfully familiar with.

"She is here?" The gears in his head started to work and then he made some distance from the Knight. "Red from the Crime Branch. State your name."

He remembers this woman, or at least some details of her.

It’s impossible for him to forget her, not after what she and the actions of her partner led to. All of them were criminals, no matter what their goal was and how just they were in their actions.

Many people have died, and although the world is silent, they know that they are being mocked by other countries for their foolish mistakes.

But he can ignore all of that. Although he didn’t know the reason completely, from what he could find after the case was closed and the Company leaders apprehended. The reason for all this stemmed from them poaching someone precious to these people. A son, a daughter, a wife, or a husband, could have been any of those things.

It’s why Red holds some guilt toward these people.

But the place where he draws the line is the Void Incident which causes huge damage to the city. There are still some officers from the scene who were never able to completely recover.

They were not as lucky as him.

"Knight-Captain Remira Wyrmwood from the Cynark Branch." Remira then showed him his identity, a badge that was enough as proof generally. But Red didn’t believe it so easily. "Confirm it." He asked and Remira heated up the badge till it started to radiate a certain signal that only genuine members of Radiant Knights would be able to create. "Now, your turn." Remira was also not foolish enough to listen to the words of a mage so easily.

She has seen too much and is barely able to hold any trust for others in her heart anymore.

Not to mention in the incident of Durum, most of the traitors appeared out of the Towers that ruled the city. which in turn has born some distrust for all mages in Remira’s heart.

"If the Aura I give off is not enough, then we can only wait here, let others come and corroborate with my identity." Red knew when to give up. And from what he had been able to cook up in his mind, he knew that whatever the danger here was had come to pass.

Which also meant, he came here too late.

But not much could be done at this point. He did what he could and tried to reach here at the fastest, but it was still not enough.

"But at least we can talk, starting with. Why would a Knight of your stature create such a disaster..." he said looking toward the forest fire; "... or drama?" he said looking deeply into Remira’s eyes.

Remira was not sure if this dwarf was who he said he was. The Pulgasiri Chapter of Radiant Knights hasn’t arrived here yet, nor did the others from the military.

When one looks at the time, barely half an hour has gone by since she came here. And so much has happened since that time. "It’s a long story, but just for some context, I was there in Durum when the disaster happened. As for what kind of disaster, you should know if you are who you claim to be."

"The descent of a god?" Red asked.

And Remira, although surprised, nodded as well. "True and false, it was not the descent, but rebirth. A god that escaped death entered the lands again. And the figure behind such a disaster was here, I don’t know if he is here anymore, but he was at one point."

At this point, Red turned silent. Knowing full well that things were way worse than he expected. And then, his eyes turned toward the women. "Can I ask you who she is?" Red asked and Remira obliged.

"She seemed to inadvertently work for that man or demon, whatever he is. So for now, she is under my custody." Remira knew that this question would come at a time anyway and although she was not sure if this woman’s lover was lying or not, she was going to keep her promise.

From what she sees and has seen till now, this woman might seem weird due to her physique, but she is a mortal.

A mortal with a clean soul at that. She found no blotches or any signs of contract in her body. She was completely clean.

’Who am I lying to, she is just too clean.’ And that is the problem. But Remira can’t say it here.

For there was a man who claimed to be from the crime branch. "You say, she worked for someone of that caliber?"

"A mortal only, she was fooled into working with him, as for who was her employer, I think you have already seen him while coming here."
