Chapter 262: 4.10.6 Finally a target.
"I saw a corpse that I don’t understand, from the way he died, it was not by your hands," Red spoke while pointing at the flaming blade of Remira. Obviously pointing out how there were no burn marks on Jara’s remains. An odd thing in itself.
Why did he die? How did he die?
Considering the strength of Remira, it would be easy to suppress someone of that level, so why is he dead and in such a weird fashion?
His body almost had the signs of the curse that flared up in his body.
"I asked questions he couldn’t answer, I used this woman as hostage and he gave up some details, which was soon followed by his death." Remira was not in the mood, not wishing to fight with this mage who came out of nowhere. Hence why she appeared so cordial to him.
Not to mention, all of this was for a reason. "But there is something else I wish to speak about, I can’t move due to this woman, I wish to take her in. But there is another one that has escaped my grasp."
But before Remira can play her cards. "Then give her to me, and you can pursue them," Red spoke, ruining Remira’s intention, while also putting her on a guard.
She hasn’t given away any information that would turn this woman important in the eyes of her opponent. No, she was sure she hadn’t unless this man had already picked up on her intent and was hence attracting his interest toward this woman.
What was it? Remira can’t say. "I have a way to prove my identity and you don’t. Better than being in a stalemate, pursue the people ahead, there is a dwarf there and two men, a dwarf, and a human. That’s all I remember.``
"Two dwarfs and a human?" At this point, Red thought of the injured man that the drunk spoke about, before asking. "Didn’t you hand over a man to a drunk back in the village? Can you confirm his words?"
Remira nodded, as it happened not too long ago. "The dwarf left him as he was too slow. Barely alive or sane, that seemed to be the best option for me while I pursued that dwarf."
"Was this injured man among the two men you mentioned?" Remira turned silent. She understood the gravity of the situation. "He disappeared?" She asked and Red Nodded.
"So I would presume the two are different." He thought before asking something else after giving Sheva one long look. "The injured man that was lost, did he have an injured right arm?"
When asked this question, Remira’s eyes turned certain. There were many things she was aware of. And from what she read in Red’s gestures and body movements. He seemed to know who this woman was.
That made her question.
’He employed her... but employed for what?’
What happened in Pulgasari for a CBI officer to know this woman’s face and even know the identity of the man who disappeared?
"I put my name on the line, none of what I said was a lie. But I have also promised that dead man over there to take care of her, as she is innocent of his words. So I have to uphold that promise as well." There was no need to hide it, not when she was in an information vacuum caused by her obsession over her pursuit of Farhad. "So I urge you to go and look for them, with your flight, it won’t be hard for you to catch up to them."
At that change of tone from Remira, Red knew that he couldn’t delay any further.
His words did shock him. But considering what kind of beings were Radiant Knights, he can somewhat trust them.
"Then stay here, the rest will be here in Five minutes," Red suggested to Remira in a polite tone, but more than a suggestion, it was a direct order from him.
’Protect a criminal?’ He wished to laugh, but he hadn’t laughed since the Company incident. But he knew why Remira might have made such a promise, a Radiant Knight will do anything to achieve their goal as long as innocents are not harmed. And she probably followed up on that old belief, albeit how impossible it is considering the situation surrounding that woman.
’She has too much to answer us.’
Will she survive?
Red didn’t think so. Although The Guardian purged the corruption in the city, it didn’t mean he was kind. A fact that Red had learned in the recent month seeing the new policy changes and certain people that should have died, still holding on to their position.
A sign that the Guardian only cared about one thing and that is stability. And as long as that bottom line is not harmed, he won’t make a move.
And Sheva has done more than just destroy the stability, she and her companion had made a mockery out of Bothal and in turn, the whole country of Pulgasari.
’She won’t live.’ This he was certain of.

"Why don’t you carry the kid and I hold the man?"
"Just shut up with your jokes for now, it’s already taking too much of my focus in keeping us hidden."
"Then why choose this place? So close to them?"
"I wanna see what happens."
There were only Owl and Scart in the small cave, not too far from where Remira and Red stood. And although it was faint Remira’s glow stood out in the dark like a firefly, making it easier for Owl and Scart to see what was going on.
"Still not moving." Owl seemed frustrated.
He has done his best, placing some traces that were so faint that it’s impossible to be tracked by a normal person unless the opponent is Remira. Who would obviously pick the scent up and follow up on it?
"You stupid bastard, you really are useless without Mini." Scart cursed while his back was hunched over while holding both Max and Crow on his back.
But in response, he just got a cold stare from Owl, causing Scart to fall silent for a while.
The relationship between the two cannot be considered bad, and Scart had been used to cursing and making fun of Owl for a long time. But there was still a hierarchy established between the two of them and Scart knew when to turn silent.
Otherwise, he knows what might happen to him.
"Don’t call their names, just focus on the job for now."
"You really intend to do it? Even after knowing what the master said?"
"I did as he asked. Now it’s my turn to do the same."
"Man just give it up already, from what I noticed, Baldar is dead. What would you achieve by killing him?"
"Satisfaction?... That woman is the reason why I had to become everyone’s babysitter." Owl rarely curses, as for showing his true emotions, there was a reason why he was considered a turncoat.
He had a habit of betraying others and he enjoyed doing this a lot when there was no responsibility on his shoulders and hence came to be hated by everyone in the orphanage, as he did some mischievous things for his own entertainment.
As for how he can be so free with all his skills and brain?
Of course the reason for Baldar. The man who was meant to be the captain. The man who was going to lead them and shoulder all the burden and responsibilities.
But due to one woman, due to a single choice of his, he was deemed worthless by their old friend Jester and thrown to team two, while he was promoted into his place, forcing him to abandon some of his old habits.
An event that he hated too much.
As if not for that, he could be as worry-free as Scart, and do what he used to do.
"Babysitter? Brother, you can’t even wash your own clothes. Minat does that for you and me both."
"Just focus on your goal and don’t cut any part of their body."

Vegal was tried.
An odd sensation he hadn’t felt for long before he touched his chest and with a click, opened it. "It’s broken."
His artificial lung had punctured and the little amount of true blood he had was not getting enough oxygen. Hence making him feel lethargic and tired.
"This is dangerous." He knew that he had to find a place and recuperate from his injuries. But where should he go?
There was no place safe for him left. Nor did he know what lay ahead of him.
Who knows, there is an ambush of some kind? Or he doesn’t find a village for months on end before regressing even more to a mechanical state due to this injury of his.
’That boy, I can’t delay.’ He thought of Crow and his plan. But considering what has happened at this point, he knows that Crow is far from his grasp. It would be a miracle if Crow survives this ordeal himself
’Another one, someone else a normal boy will do. All I need is a proper build.’
There was never an issue for him to find a body that he could borrow. But what mattered most to him was talent as well as bloodline. Both of which were present in Crow.
Not to mention, there was no one behind Crow anymore, neither someone who cared for him, as talented students like him are under someone’s tutelage or belong to a powerful family.
’Make to do with what I have’. He thought before coming across a familiar old man with two additional figures on the side.
