Chapter 96: Chapter 95 - Learning Something Else?

After suffering through another day of drinking this strange silver liquid, Caliste was now almost dead as he walked to the dorm number that had been slipped into his hands a few hours ago when he attended the end of Detention.

He was currently heading for Emma’s dorms. It seemed that she had dorms reserved for herself for some strange reason, even if she wasn’t that impressive of a student in terms of her mana and her stats regarding it.

However, what made her different was her strange powers. Most likely, it was the one she had used to notice that Caliste had two souls within himself and how she figured out that he had died before.

Caliste couldn’t wait to find out how she had managed to learn about this.

"Is this the place?" Caliste asked as he looked at the dorm number on the piece of paper he had received. Once he confirmed it, he began knocking on the door.

However, what he didn’t know was that someone had been following him all this way: Fleur.

She had been spying on him ever since he had returned because she thought his behavior was even stranger than usual. She sensed something was off, and when she saw him knock on the door of someone else, she frowned, wondering who he could be going to see at such a time.

After all, it was past midnight...

Shortly after, the door opened, and a face that Fleur had never anticipated appeared before her.

It was Emma. Caliste had gone to see the weirdo from Detention without even saying anything to her.

’Are they dating?’ she immediately thought with a frown, getting jealous within seconds. However, she quickly shook her head. That made no sense. Caliste had barely even spoken to her. There must be another reason; at least, that’s what she hoped for as she watched Caliste enter her dorm with a smile on his face.

Fleur was already nervous, but now she was getting jealous as the seconds passed, waiting for that door to open once again.

She really hoped that nothing would happen inside.

"You can take a seat," Emma said, somewhat surprised that Caliste had come to visit her at such a time.

"Sorry for arriving late; the training with Albert took a little longer than I expected."

Emma nodded quietly in response. "Sure... it’s not like I sleep much at night anyway. So, you’re probably here because you’re wondering how I said all those things about you, aren’t you?"

Caliste nodded right away. "Yeah... what was that about the three souls, one forgotten, one old, and... I don’t remember the last one."

Emma just started laughing. "For being so concerned, you don’t even remember what I told you. I’d say you’re pretty relaxed about this whole thing."

Caliste couldn’t help but notice how pretty Emma was right now. He had only seen her wearing thick clothes that covered most of her body. But now that she was in her dorm late at night, she wore a nice nightgown that highlighted her body and face perfectly. She was actually very pretty. However, Caliste also knew that it was the last thing he should be thinking about in this situation as he pushed this thought to the back of his mind, focusing back on what mattered to him.

"Whatever, tell me more about it. How did you figure this out?"

Emma found it strange that Caliste was not very anxious about it. It was as if he had an idea of what it could be, which was unusual. People would always panic and listen to her every word. However, this time around, he acted calmly, only wanting answers as if they didn’t really matter in the first place.

Emma frowned slightly but replied. "It’s because of my powers related to Death Mana. I am able to see souls, dead beings, and everything related to it, and sometimes... I can become friends with them."

"Friends? What do you mean?"

She smiled. "It’s complicated; let’s not get into that. Just remember the first part."

Caliste nodded, as it seemed she wouldn’t be saying more about her powers.

"Anyway, because of that, I was able to see that you had died before because of a strange, thick death aura surrounding your body—something that only dead beings have. And for the three souls, well, the three of them are different in their own way, and they are all inside of your body. I can see them as clear as day."

"What about the old, forgotten, and the other one? What does that mean?"

She smiled. "That’s just what those souls feel to me. I couldn’t really tell you more about it. However, within yourself, there is a forgotten soul, an old soul, and a pure soul... a soul with hope. As for why you have three souls, I’d say it’s because there are multiple beings within yourself. Would that ring a bell?"

She noticed the gaze in Caliste’s eyes changing from a frown to one of surprise. However, even then, she kept her mouth shut, waiting to see more.

She noticed just how hard he was thinking, and she knew that she had hit the right spot. It was the first time in her life that she had met someone like Caliste, and she loved it because... in a way, they were weirdly similar.

"So?" she asked again with a smirk.

"I’m not sure..." Caliste replied, denying it. However, Emma wasn’t stupid; she could tell from the look on his face. It was clear as day.

She just laughed. "Hm, then I guess I will tell you a little more about that death aura around you. Because of it, I know that you died and came back to life. I don’t know how or why, but I just know. So, can you tell me about it?"

Caliste stayed quiet. He wasn’t planning on revealing such things.

"Mhm... maybe I can start then."

Caliste’s eyes widened. "Y-You’ve also come back to life?!"

’Fuck...’ Caliste immediately thought as the words slipped out of his mouth by accident.

She smiled as her plan had worked. "Yes, I did. When I was young, I died and came back to life. I still have no idea why or how, though."

Caliste wasn’t sure if she was telling the truth, but he decided to give the same answer as her since he wasn’t planning on trusting a stranger.

Liana, who was inside Caliste’s mind, was frowning from within as she heard this conversation. She could clearly see that this woman was hiding things from Caliste. She had a clear idea of why she had come back to life, but she was simply hiding it.

’Caliste. Ask her again why she came back to life. Who knows? Maybe she’s someone like you who came back from the past,’ she thought with a slight frown.

"Are you sure you have no idea why you came back to life?"

She shook her head.

"Hm, alright. Can I ask you something else then?"

She nodded once again.

"Can you teach me your powers? I also have Death Mana, and seeing souls might help me too."

She laughed even more. "You want to train under me too? Aren’t you a little too ambitious? Training under Albert and me? Wouldn’t that be too hard for your body?"

Caliste shook his head.

He was ready for everything in his way. As long as he could stop Alek from going any further, he was ready to do absolutely anything.

"It’s fine. I can take it. Wouldn’t your training be more mental than anything else?"

After all, Caliste still had to learn the Demonic Technique that the butler had left him to use Excalibur. Learning how to see souls might be useful in some way too.

"Mhm... I don’t know. I’ve never trained anyone before. I kind of received this power... I’m not even sure if I could teach it to somebody else."

But then, just as Caliste was about to reply, it seemed she had gotten a stroke of genius as she smiled and said with a lot of

confidence, "Actually... I think I could teach you."

Caliste was a little surprised and found it strange how easily she had changed her opinion, but he nodded and appreciated it a lot.

"Thank you then... that’d be perfect actually."

Now that Emma had accepted to teach him about her powers, he would be able to find out more about the souls within himself.

He knew that there was his soul and Liana’s soul. He was just wondering about the third one and its origin. At the same time, he was also wondering about Emma’s souls. There was definitely something strange about her and the way she behaved.

The fact that she had "received" wasn’t something that Caliste had missed either.

There was a chance that they were a lot more similar than what would seem.

"Do you want to start the training tonight?" she asked with a smile on her face as she stood up, looking very excited.
