Chapter 62: Chapter 60 - Caliste Wakes Up
While Alder started to have a slight hope that Caliste might have died in battle, he was currently sleeping peacefully against the thighs of his big sister.
He had been sleeping for a whole day. It seemed that using the Heavenly Demonic Thrust had taken a toll on his body. It was a technique from Caliste’s past life and one that he had perfected at his pinnacle. It was only normal for him to struggle against it at the moment.
So much time had passed since he had fallen asleep that Aleia was starting to worry about him.
After all, his pulse was not getting stronger; it was slowing down over time, which wasn’t a very good sign regarding this whole situation.
’Should I go see Mother?’ she thought with a slight frown. ’She might know how to fix this.’
Aleia was still in shock from watching her little brother pull off such an attack from absolutely nowhere.
Aleia wasn’t stupid. She had always known that her little brother was special. The speed at which he had learned everything in his childhood had been unmatched. If it hadn’t been for his mana circuits... then he would be even stronger.
The way he handled the sword was not something a child should be capable of. Yet, he was at least three times better than Aleia, who had fought with a sword for all of her life.
Her little brother was a genius; she never doubted that fact.
However... what she had just seen made her worried.
Her little brother, the son of the Demon King, had received help from the heavens—a force that had been gone for around twenty years. Actually, now that she started to think about it, the heavens disappeared around the time that Caliste was born.
’Is he related to them in any way? Why would they help a demon?’
Aleia wasn’t sure what to think. However, one thing was certain: she would keep this a secret from everyone she knew until she made sense of this situation. The only person she would tell would be her mother; she was the only one she trusted.
"Argh..."
Suddenly, she felt movements against her thighs; Caliste was finally opening his eyes after that much time.
Caliste squirmed a little between her legs, his hands moving around her thighs as he acted as if they were pillows.
’So squishy...’ he thought in the back of his mind, his eyes still half-closed as he spoke up. ’This is great.’
"Little brother? Are you up?"
Caliste, who heard that voice, woke up at once as memories from his battle immediately flooded his mind. He realized what he had done only then as he observed the look on his sister’s face, who seemed somewhat... troubled by this whole thing.
"Hm... yes. I am."
Aleia caressed his head, her fingers slipping through his hair as she looked at her brother dearly.
"You saved me~!" she said with a little grin.
Aleia didn’t want to ask dozens of questions of Caliste. She knew that it was probably a confusing situation for him too. She didn’t want to rush him too hard. But Caliste didn’t want to beat around the bush; he knew his sister had tons of questions for him—who wouldn’t?
"You can just ask your questions; I don’t mind."
Caliste straightened his back as he was asked this question, resting against the trunk of a very large tree.
However, Aleia shook her head. She knew that it wasn’t the time to question him. He needed to return to the Elven Castle before they started to ask themselves too many questions.
"Wait... for how long was I asleep?"
"Over a day."
Caliste clicked his tongue. If he was here, then it meant he had missed yet another day at the academy; he was bound to get even more haters over there, even if he had not done anything wrong in the grand scheme of things.
"Fuck... what happened while I was asleep?"
Aleia shook her head and shrugged. She had not left his side for a single moment. She had no clue what had happened ever since he had fallen asleep.
"We need to head back to the Castle right away then. They probably think that I’m dead by now..."
Aleia also agreed with that decision. However, she wanted to be sure that her little brother would be alright. And before they left, Aleia wanted to tell Caliste one last thing.
"Your attack at the end... I won’t tell anyone about it."
Caliste smiled and thanked her with a hug.
Even if he had been born into a family of demons, he could count on them like no one before. They were not evil like the rest of the demons; they truly cared for him. There was only one other person in the world who might care as much as Caliste, but she had disappeared for quite some time now.
’I’ll have to try my best to find you...’ Caliste thought in the back of his mind as he began heading toward the Elven Castle.
"Why aren’t you sending guards to look for him?!"
Ever since Caliste had disappeared, Fleur had been losing her mind. She had refused to go back to the Academy, and she was still trying to convince her father to find her boyfriend by all means.
"Please, Father! H-He’s not dead! He can’t be!"
Alder shook his head.
He couldn’t care less if Caliste died in the forest, especially after all the disrespect he had received from that young man.
"Fleur, stop annoying your father."
A voice from behind suddenly echoed.
It was Luther’s, who was supporting Alder. He was currently seated on his throne with a serious gaze on his face as he tried to make sense of everything that had happened.

"The boy has returned!" one of the guards shouted as the door began opening, revealing a weakened Caliste, who was somewhat struggling to walk.
Caliste saw Fleur running toward him; however, his eyes didn’t go to her. Instead, they were fixed on the throne.
’Luther. Finally, we meet again,’ Caliste thought as he was already trying to control all the emotions that were bubbling within him.
